Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Is it a little strange he's flown to Melbourne for the hearing when they could've held it in Perth via video conference or with local Tribunal judges? Wonder if he's planning to visit some of the Brayshaw family to apologise in person.

I think it's good that he has flown in, he isn't playing this week, so why not fly in and actually front up to what you did. It's admirable, and honestly I hope he goes in there, apologises, says what he did was inexcusable, cops his whack and moves on.

If West Coast go in there with all guns blazing trying to defend his actions, I'll spew.

Cop it, deal with it, show remorse, move on.

(Might also be down here to spend time with family, as he is clearly going to be out for a long time)

If a CEO is prepared to lie blatantly at a press conference over such a delicate matter (if Pavich is right) then it just shows how Meth Coke operate.

Maybe Nesbitt should be asked to leave as well

Such a lack of respect. Imagine dealing business with him

Wait, so Brayshaw and Gaff never played golf and Nisbett made the whole thing up? Story gets more bizarre all the time.

And that comment from 'Ralphy' is absolute tripe. The media don't "get their shot and move on." Would've been an absolute circus with media speeding down the freeway tailgating Gaff's getaway car, filming him from their windows, filming him checking into his hotel, filming him through his hotel window, filming him leaving his hotel, filming him arriving at the Tribunal, filming him leaving the Tribunal, film him returning to his hotel... and on and on and on and on and on and...

His outrage that police and security are more concerned about protecting the thousands of passengers at the airport to, you know, catch a flight safely, rather than help a bunch of gutter-level vultures swamp a football player in the terminal, sums up the character of Australian "journalism."

Tom Bugg is the anti-Christ compared to Andrew Gaff or so it would seem from the comparative media coverage....

and did you expect anything else.

Young Saad gets done for 18 months for an energy drink on match day that is completely legal the day before and the day after (rules are rules say the media) and yet we have the Bomber victims.

Unfortunately it won't change while the media is itself an extension of the good guy footballer club.

Media Wars

Manure and Ralph are two of the worst, along with Stevens. Not that I follow them these days. I often hear Manure on SEN breaking a news story that had already been broken and they make a big deal of him. Cringeworthy.

The Eagles are obviously happy to open a fat wallet.

The Bill for this charade would not come cheap.

I am more interested in what Pavlich had to say, and so should the media

Gaff deserves some leniency.

It is not at all clear that he intended to strike Brayshaw in the head. And, Brayshaw's head naturally lowered at the time Gaff went to strike - Brayshaw's knees bent and he lowered his head slightly.

I think it is plausible at this stage that Gaff's intention was to whack him in the upper body.

I think his good record is a relevant consideration in understanding the offence.

I feel sympathy for Gaff while at the same time believe a significant penalty is in order if the AFL is serious about head injuries and assault. What I think should happen:

1.  Gaff should be suspended for a minimum 12 games, on the basis that he can demonstrate that he intended to hit AB in the body and not the head. If the Tribunal rules it was intentional then I think 12 month ban is appropriate. Saying this I dont view Gaff as a coward or gutless or any of these things, but rather a good player with a solid reputation who did something really silly that he would massively regret.

2.  AFL must suspend any player who punches another player deliberately whether clenched fist or open palm and to the head, chest, stomach etc for at least 1 game. This action should have no place on the football field, can result in incidents like the Houli, Bugg and Gaff hits, and sets a terrible example to juniors.

Hearing about people whos lives have been affected by being hit in the head has toughened my stance on this and its not to punish Gaff but to use this as an opportunity to change atitudes re head injuries caused by assaults.

Football is dangerous enough without players punching each other off the ball.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
