Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Go and get Gaff!

Gone backwards? He’s having his best year yet. So if a player doesn’t continually back up their B&F year they’ve gone backwards?

With all due respect Saty, I think you are wrong here.

Last year against Port in an elimination final he had 34 touches. Then in the next final he had 25, so hardly went missing when the heat was on.

Grand Final in 2015 he had 34 also. So I think he has proven that he can stand up in big games.

While he is obviously not a brute in the middle like Oliver, he's a different type of player and one we don't really have. I don't believe he is worth any more than $700k a season though, unlike someone like Oliver who in 2-3 years will be easily worth over a mill a season.

The whole team is playing well, at the weekend against Sydney, he went missing again when the heat was on, my knock on him

He is an accumulator, would prefer to keep developing Stretch

What does he actually bring, we are averaging a tick under 100 points a game lately so moving the ball isn't the issue everybody seems to think it is

He's an upgrade on guys like Vince & Lewis. Why shouldn't we be looking to create the most dominant team in the AFL?

Plus with Jones likely to be moved out of the midfield more over the next few years, we need additional talent in there.

So he is going to play halfback?

Lewis and Vince don't rotate through there much any more

I have never been a fan of Gaff, if the footy dept are and get him, fine, I will have no issue

No Jones will likely move back there and replace Vince and Lewis.

All I'm saying is we need to always be looking to improve, not just be content with where we are at.

The point I continually raise on here, mob rules, if you don't agree YOU ARE WRONG

It's unfounded when based on clearly incorrect facts, or a sample using only Friday night's game vs Swans. We might listen f you made a case based upon reason and real facts without the woe is me

Gaff is a power runner. Like ANB but with more experience and class. These kinds of players are increasingly valuable as powerful 2 way running is what allows us to cover structural gaps when there is a turnover. It also allows us to run in waves when we cause a turnover.

I get pretty excited when I think of a team containing Tmac, Hogan, ANB and Gaff. I wouldn't sell the farm to recruit him as I think we're are growing something pretty special and we're need to look at the salary balance but i would have a red hot go

My response was to @picket fence who called him a superstar, when he won in 2015, even West Coast supporters were surprised

Every year on here a player gets turned into the second coming because supposedly he is interested in coming to Melbourne

My opinion is Gaff is an accumulator, and his defence is questionable prefer to develop Stretch

The Sydney game showed the 'real' Gaff, the heat was on and he went missing, happened in the past

Now if it was Shuey, would be over there helping him pack

i've made my point on Gaff before but a slow outside player that is poor defensively isnt what we need. was barely in their best 22 last season if we want to be honest about his form.

tell me how in games against collingwood and hawthorn where we were exposed for leg speed that Gaff is going to help us

Straight to a trade.

yeah, but isn't that just splitting hairs

jeelong wasn't going to pay dangermouse what he was worth on the open market (hence possibly poorer compo pick) and cows were prepared to match the offer (not posed officially under fa) if it came to that, so they went the trade, but it was because they knew the cows would match the offer and they couldn't risk it going to the draft or him staying.

I'm sorry but stretch looks like a deer caught in the headlights when he gets the ball. Time and again he looks good at VFL and then fails miserably at AFL. I can't see the point in sinking more time into him.

Your opinion on Gaff also said he’d never won a BnF or finished high in a Brownlow also, you were clearly wrong which makes your other opinions irrelevant and poorly researched, admit you were wrong....

Oh and Stretch ahead of Gaff is ridiculous, he’s never shown anything apart from being a great trainer, rabbit in the headlights and no speed, spends most of his time running around in circles.

@Satyriconhome I get what you are saying in that we tend to overrate opposition players and possibly we are thinking that Gaff will solve all our issues and be our messiah.

However he is a proven performer, he’s had many great seasons, the best is still ahead of him, he is a Brownlow fancy, and Sydney put a hard tag on him and he still had 24, 6 clearances and 6 inside 50s. I love billy and ANB but they aren’t getting a hard tag.

If he does get tagged out of games at the dees, then think about the space Brayshaw and Salem will get.

He might not be the messiah, we might overrate him, but he will make our side better and that’s enough for me.

A superstar wins B&F consistently and wins the Brownlow, my answer to Picket, his win in 2015 surprised everybody, and that was a couple of years ago, he is an accumulator, and he is not fast, where this impression comes from I have no idea

Doesn't matter about my opinion, it is my opinion, so it is not irrelevant

Stretch is being developed, it may work, it may not

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
