Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

The Weed has to stay in.

If he gets his confidence up and starts to feel more comfortable he will be a massive asset.

The 2 contested marks he took in the last qtr against Essendon is just a glimpse of what he might be capable of.

Are you comfortable with keeping T.Smith out because both can't play in the same team.

I haven’t really seen enough of T Smith this year to compare but I can see where you are coming from.

Weed definitely has to keep improving to stay in but I think he has more upside than T Smith from what I saw from him last year.

Thanks for the info.

He did show a bit before he got injured last year but I did think he didn’t look fit enough.

If he has improved his fitness and is moving into the midfield, I think he could be very valuable also..

In saying that I still think he is behind, Hogan, T Mac, Trac, Hannan and Fritsch

He is behind Hogan etc. but he is very strong and hard bodied.  With a very low centre of gravity.

He would be a nightmare to shift off the ball.

I reckon he might be able to be a utility.   maybe sort of a an Archer, for us?  a little different. but bigger.

I think the Wiedeman will get just as much confidence playing in the ruck for Casey. His form has been good in the ruck but he needs more time and he's our only ruck if Gawn goes down which I hope he never does. Pedo won't get a game for Melbourne again with all the talls in front of him.

Can't play with Hogan, T.Mac, T.Smith and Weide in the same side.

T.Smith is more versatile than Weideman and in better form, so he replaces him.

Garlett replaces Salem but if Petracca is fit he replaces Salem.

Absolutely.

They are playing completely different roles.

Smith is playing as a mid/forward & Weid a forward/ruck.

Of course they can play in the same team & most probably will.

Not with McDonald and Hogan also in the same side 4 tall forwards don't work.

The role Bull is playing seems to be less a KPF and more for tackling pressure and on the ground. I think we could really use that in our forward line. Its just a bonus he has a great mark and kick for goal going for him.

Tim Smith is incredibly vanilla. I don't care if he is playing midfield. Who does he replace in there from last week (remembering Salem played off half back)?

I don't think his confidence will come from rucking.  He is an out and out key forward and needs to play AFL.

Developing as a key forward in the VFL is very difficult due to ground sizes, game style and the level of skill down there.

Especially when they bite you.

To be fair though, I know I like to step into dog fights all the time.

Hardly the dogs' fault... Trac made a mistake and stepped in when he probably would have been better throwing a bucket of water on them... he also should have sought medical attention immediately.  Hopefully he learned a valuable lesson.

Do we weaken ourselves by playing him and getting games into him to help build his confidence?

Could be academic if Hogan ends up being rested, won’t drop Weids and rest Hogan in the same week.

Let's agree to disagree, but my risk management 101 hat says remove root cause = fighting dogs.

I've had to put risky dogs down before so I get it.

But, we're Melbourne, so carry on and that.

Potemkin Football Club (not to belabour the point)

Not sure Goodwin has a right to tell Trac to kill his dogs though.

Vanilla = Pre-breakout game. he hasn't had a breakout game yet and only 2nd season into the system.

Are our mids vanilla?

Quandry&A:  if we do not, will he be ready this September ?

We may want him in finals this year, but he might be too inexperienced, still ?

It would make reasonable sense to allow TSmith into the team for a week, to see what he brings and how it can be applied if needed. Most observers indicate that he is a rather willing footballer, and is courageous. Two fine qualities.

If Hogan doesn't get up, I'd bring Smith straight in.

If Hogan does get up, and the only change is Salem, then I'd imagine Wagner will come in.

Tough on Smith?  Not at all.  He can keep banging the door down and when he does get his opportunity, grab it with both hands.

I don't think "trialling" Smith as a midfielder in the seniors is necessary at this point.  I'd rather see him start forward for a few games, get confidence and continuity in his game, then allow him to start roaming.  Far less risk.

If Hogan is sore, from many issues, i'd rest him for one week,  to get back to normal.

It gives us a chance now TMc is back in,,, to check our other players levels and attribytes.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
