Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I thought that was one Hannan’s best games for the club, if not his best. Didn’t fumble or panic under pressure. Made smart decisions, executed well and hit the scoreboard. He almost always does one or two things in a game that shows his class but this was a good all round performance. He may never become a permanent fixture but he is the quality of player we need on the fringes to be a decent finals side.

Skipper was an angry ant today....terrific effort

I thought that today was his best game. Seemed to be angry and very aggressive (but controlled) and if thats what it takes for him to perform like that then he needs to keep doing it.

Great to get a win, even if the first half is unwatchable. A few positives to come from the game: Brayshaw playing midfield where he should, Hannan Fritsch and Spargo etc... It was a nice win, but nothing to get me too excited.

It still feels like just one game in the middle of a whole heap of bland under-performance. I still can't clearly see our best 22 or best 25 players, with lots of players like Harmes, ANB, Fritsch, Spargo, Garlett, Smith, etc... rolling in and out of the team each week as their form fluctuates.

OMac is my highlight of the year so far. Love watching him now. I feel as confident with him as I do with Nev. Do we remember how many Demonlanders were caning our selectors for leaving him in the team when he was learning his trade? The vitriol was a pandemic. In hindsight, our player development seems to be an actual strength. (I can't believe I am typing that after the previous decade of horrors!)

Now, that Demonlander vitriol reserved purely for developing players, turns to Weideman. How about we give him the same opportunities we have OMac? Weideman is a very, very good footballer who will turn out to be a 200 game player. He also has Hogan and TMac to learn from. He will be fine.

We were good against rubbish opposition, could we do that against the top sides? No chance.

Spargo had a great debut, Fritsch was excellent, Gawn back to his dominating best and we really missed Tom McDonald.

Can you name these "top sides" for me ?

I was thinking more Brad Green as they have similar kicking styles and both lefties.

Me too Jibroni. Bayley moves a lot like Brad and seems to possess the same dead eye dick left foot.

A classy young footballer, totally at ease with the pressure and intensity of AFL level football and blossoming there.

Based on what evidence?  We are six game into the season.

If you wanna go back to last season well flat track bullies don't beat Adelaide in Adelaide.

So, the highest possession-getter for the team, and named in the bests - but you'd drop him.

I thought terrible first half, mediocre second half. Bombers were appalling, we were just better for 1.5 qtrs.

I won't argue with the first half; it was one of the worst I've witnessed in a long time.

But the second half was much, much better.  The Bombers were very poor but we smashed them all over the ground and, when we show some composure and lower our eyes, we use the ball well going forward.  Hopefully that's the footy we see more of in the coming weeks.

I couldn't help but think it was a very Demonland game today -- a real mixed bag just about everything. The first half was a shocker, with clangers all over the joint, saved only by a couple of neat goals to the debutant Spargo. The third quarter was some of our best this year (and Essendon's worst). When Maxie kicked a goal with a banana deep in the pocket, I thought it was going to be our day. When Maxie kicked a second goal with a banana deep in the pocket, I knew it was going to be our day, which was confirmed when the Bombers should have had a kick after the siren at three-quarter time, but somehow managed to play on with only one second on the clock. I thought only the Demons could stuff things up like that! The final quarter had some nice moments, but also had the now-traditional fadeout in the last few minutes. We did enough to win that quarter, but also let the opposition have a few cheapies. Weideman clunking a couple of nice marks was either a sign of things to come, or a reminder that he was still on the field after a quiet game up to that point.

All in all, good to get the points and be back on the winners list, but whatever your disposition, you can find something to suit your view in this game!

Positives today:

TMac is back : gives us competitiveness

Brayshaw: one of the instigators in turning game around

OMac : Getting pretty ********* good

Nev : Geeaaaaaaaaaaat !

Jetta’s great tackle in the second quarter quickly followed up by a couple of pinpoint Melsham passes for goals turned the game for us. That was the kind of spark sorely missing the previous couple of weeks. Got the forward line mojo back.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
