Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

This is getting old now.. they give you nothing. In your head it seems they do, but they don't.

You seem to post nothing except to criticise me, maybe the 'head' issues lie with you

As you are not standing next to me when I talk to them you have no [censored] idea what is said

Saty as a friend, could I suggest you leave the last line out of your posts. It is the line that constantly riles so many on here and starts the petty arguments and the rest of your post is informative and sensible.

I don't like seeing you attacked on here, as you are a nice bloke, a great Dees supporter and you attend training and pass on info which most of us love to read, just go easy on that last line it is irksome to many.

PS. I see I got in one post too late as it has started again.

You do realise you're wasting your time.

It's not irksome to many chap, just a petty few, besides which don't care what they think as they are not important or relevant to me even as so called 'supporters' of this club.

It says more about them as they can't put forward an opinion, but rather just criticise other posters

But hey its a public forum, every anonymous keyboard warrior can post, it's whether they contribute anything to the discussion is another matter

Casey are 2 and 2, the teams from Rd 1 to Rd 4 bear little resemblance to each other

Some of the AFL listed players are out of form, there is no development league now so even if Rawlings wants to replace them, he is going sometimes with players with little experience at VFL level

A loss even at VFL level opens the door for the perpetual whingers, I find it amusing that some on here have never attended the game, either at AFL or VFL level, yet seem to have tremendous insight into every kick and handball

So you mean either players are out of form, or your expectations haven't been met ?

Out of form yes so they are dropped but then also my expectations of how good the players are just shows I am not a great  judge.

Lets hope TMac back today can liven up the forward line and we get a win.

and Spargo debuts with a standout game.

make us all feel much better

Go Dees !!

no actually some clubs get it right, rare but we should be striving to achieve this as so far we only picked 1 decent player in that draft who is Clayton Oliver

Fritsch and Spargo another two last year. Baker and Petty already showing something as well. Doing ok I would suggest.

Interesting the small forwards tackle counts. Garlett and Bugg laying a heap of tackles. Clearly that is the benchmark for getting back in the side.

Also from a purely numbers point of view, those who were there might be able to comment, but seems like Stretch is in the handball chains, where he runs past and then handballs to someone else. We really need him to be running and kicking rather than handballing. I really, really want him to succeed - his workrate is there, but something is not clicking.

wouldn't judge baker and petty just yet, however it's dissapointing to see players drafted such as Johnstone king and hullett who don't get a game at all and at this stage look vfl players at best

Why are you concentrating on players who haven't made it, when we have several who have and still will?

Do you seriously believe that every player drafted should be in the best 22 the next  year? Surely not.

LICKING WOUNDS by KC from Casey

When they took the field for their first home game of the season on Saturday night, the Casey Demons were only a shadow of the team that ran riot in the opening game of the season a month ago.

The club started the day with a successful result for its women’s VFL side and followed it up with the unfurling of the last Development League premiership flag. With that competition now redundant, a number of the club’s back up VFL listed team are playing in suburban competitions and not in the club’s own ranks. The consequence of this is that the cohesiveness of a club team is not always there when the AFL listed numbers are as low as they were this weekend.

The Demons started poorly and failed to handle the ball in the slippery conditions. It took a whole quarter before Cam Pedersen managed to score the team’s first goal on the siren and they were lucky to be trailing by only 14 points at the time.

In the absence of the team’s young ruck duo, Casey relied on a raw first-gamer from the ‘burbs in Kieren Byers who tried hard but was no match for the experiences Zac Smith and his back ups who racked up more than 80 hit outs for the night and gave Geelong’s midfield an armchair ride. By half time, the Cats had opened up a 38 point lead and Casey had only two goals on the board.

After the break, the Demons worked a lot harder and were led by the likes of Tim Smith who was relishing the week off and put great pressure on the Cats resulting in a more competitive effort. The move of Sam Frost into the forward line also provided dividends. The impetus for the revival was also provided by some solid efforts from VFL listers Jay Lockhart, Goy Lok (2 goals), the ever reliable Angus Scott and Corey Wagner.

A few late goals in junk time made the outcome a more respectable defeat than it should have been and the bye could not have come at a better time to enable some wounds to be licked. The loss was Casey’s first defeat at home after 15 wins in a row at Casey Fields.

Only way to fix the mess the afl created is merge Stk/NM plus bris/Gold Coast. Too many teams, not enough talent and GWS have been fed while lowly teams bottomed out.

they say the population is growing but country footy is stuffed in many states, tas is a good example. Maybe more kids are switching to soccer. Many leagues and associations at country level are amalgamating

  Cant see gws fanbase expanding.

So much for our so-called depth. Take our bottom 4 or 5 AFL 22 and Casey might be competitive

Saty it is irkesome for you to so frequently point out that you speak to players and coaches and pass on what you get permission to pass on. And that you don't share everything. We know.

it is irksome not just to those who critice you but i assume others like myself who don't (or rarely do).

What i dislike is that given every one who posts semi regularly knows you speak to players and coaches - and assuming you don't need constant affirmation - i suspect you repeat it over and over to wind people up, to get a reaction, to annoy certain posters. Which is not too far removed from trolling. So please stop.

Would be great if a few of you would get a room, and get back on topic.  Kicking the crap out of each other on this forum may seem like fun (or make you feel good), but enough already!  I like reading posts of most of the people that are on Demonland, but this constant back biting and spitball throwing stuff is tiring.  If it is not this thread, then you guys will go at it in another.  Cant you decide to have one free hit each and then get over it?

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
