Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Premium Members Getting Dudded By The Club

no one has answered the question how they got there and ‘demanded’ those seats in the first place...

I'm a Redlegs member and have to suffer next to pie supporters on QB.  The Dees supporting mate lends him and his kids Redleg passes his friends/families do not use.

Also, our members buy guest passes for opp supporter friends.  Technically guests are not allowed into the Redlegs/Trident (there is a separate area for them and their guests) but security let them in anyway.

Have been a Redlegs member for nearly 20 years primarily so that I don't have to sit near opp supporters.  Needless to say having opp supporters in our reserved areas is very off putting and really reduces enjoyment of the game, especially QB.

As a trident member, I was pizzed off that in the seat I pay squillions for I was surrounded by tigers nuftis.  Superior, idiotic, painful.  They spent their time taunting the Melbourne faithful, commenting loudly on us (rather than the game) and made my experience significantly worse than just watching the loss.

how is it that these [censored] eating sister [censored] [censored] faces get access to our seats?  If I wanted to sit with them, I would go to a Narc anon meeting.

can anyone fill me in on how this works?

I`m a Premium member (have no idea if i`m redleg or trident )and sit on Level 2 in the Olympic Stand. Any Prem member can buy guest passes for $25 and bring whoever they want however they are supposed to sit in a designated bay closer to the goals but that rarely happens and I have done the same with my guests over the years and just use spare seats around my reserved seat. I did see quite a few Tiges fans there last night but all the ones I saw were with Dees fans so it looks like they were guests who are permitted to be there.

By the way, Ive never used the facilities in the Southern Stand (Lindsay Hasset Room)...am I missing out on something?

I

I think MFC Members are gold medalists full stop. I see my friends turn up week after week to support this basket case of a team. Shame we are not appreciated as much as we should be, if you think that's being precious then you just don't get it. I have no problems with people inviting guests, I however wouldn't give my membership pass to an opposition supporter. So maybe we differ.

Although I am an MFC member, I elect to sit in the MCC as I pay for my membership. Whenever I look over to our MFC member section I am staggered that we seem to be surrounded by opposition fans. I also notice a lot of opposition fans sitting in our members area. How does this happen?

I agree, I pay premium dollars to sit with MFC members and always have opposition numpties invited to Chairman’s functions and then get seats in MFC premium area!

Haven't noticed before but it looks like the Tridents areas is surrounded by corporate bays. So I suppose these are for club sponsors who can do whatever they like with their tickets. Problem then is when the MCC people don't check people are sitting in their allocated seats. map-8078-1.png

Only once on Tuesday night did I see any Richmond supporters moved on. And that was well before the pre match ceremony began.

Part of the problem arises from the number of empty seats in the Tridents bays, there were more people sitting around me at the Geelong match than on Tuesday. Do people not turn up? Are they dining or with larger groups in the MCC? Embarrassing to think thisatch was being touted as a sell out.

According to the t&c of premium memberships, we must sit in our allocated seats and cards are not transferable. Time for the club to put some feet on the ground in this area and sort it out.

Nope, Saty.  Muppets because of their superior attitude and direct comment/ attack on the demon supporters around them.  Happy to have barracking for what is happening on the field, but the holier than thou attitude and continuous comment and sniping at Dees supporters for the whole game was too much.

no one has answered the question how they got there and ‘demanded’ those seats in the first place...

They probably opened those seats up to GA because it is better to have people in there than empty seats when they were expecting a large crowd. 77k was bad if it was under 70k because our Melbourne reserved seat areas were half empty the AFL might start questioning whether we are the best partner for Richmond in this game.

I don't get supporters who complain about opposition supporters in members areas. Yeah if they're being a nuisance fair enough but I saw security escort a young family out of a Tridents area once on Queen's Bday just because the kids were waving their Collingwood flags. Like seriously?

I'm an AFL member and constantly surrounded by opposition supporters and have to watch the Melbourne supporters all in the Northern Stand. When you're losing it sucks but when you win a close game (like Queen's Bday last year) it is awesome giving it to the opposition supporters and seeing the looks on their faces.

I absolutely hate when when oppo fans are in the northern stand. If i wanted to sit with opposing fans id just buy a GA membership. Clearly MCG staff can see people with non melbourne colours attempting to get in. Shouldn't be allowed.

We have reserved seats on level 1 of the Southern Stand. There were large numbers of Richmond supporters in that area on Tuesday who had purchased seats on Ticketek. I don't like it, but I don't blame the club for selling seats when Melbourne supporters don't bother coming.

the idea of supporters from both teams seated together is a very special part of the Australian game.

It would be an enormous pity if it were reduced. Don't really agree with the supporter only areas that have crept in over the last decade.

And while I am at it... give the cheer squads back to the kids... time for the baby boomers to move on.

Ive been in the Redlegs for a long time (19 years) and it always annoys me to see opposition supporters in there. There are plenty of seats around the stadium where supporters of different sides can sit together - for home games level 2 half forward flank should be for hardcore MELBOURNE supporters only!

Closing our home facilities for corporate crap is not on either. We only get 9 home games at the G anyway with the 2 sold to NT, so give the premium members something, gee....

I have been a member of the redlegs for 34 years, about 14 years ago it was decided that members who bought opposition supporters in had to take those guests to the level above the seating area's allocated for premium members, this usually works quite well but in some instances members obviously don't adhere to that.

At the end of the geelong game a fight nearly broke out as two geelong supporters started to abuse the melbourne players and surrounding melbourne members including me, this is the reason why the rule was brought in.I remember there use to be a lot of problems with opposition supporters.

I personally prefer to be surrounded by mfc members only as I can be get heated when abuse starts to fly around.

The idea that grown men get into legitimate and heated/physical arguments watching younger men play a game is unfathomable to me. Obviously I know it happens but I cannot comprehend the mentality. If anyone tries to rile me up or gets angry at what I say at the footy I just laugh at them they don't really know how to handle that.

Football is meant to bring us together - its meant to be a positive environment

However, sadly many MFC "supporters" have very negative outlook - its all about their own anger & frustration with their OWN football club. I see the moderators in this community having to handle it 7 its normally the negative attacking the positive.  Interestingly offline its not as bad, but it is creeping into games more and more for all clubs.

Please note I used the term "many" not all - the MFC has a core of awesome supporters.

We get it - the club has been so bad for so long MFC supporters have become the "laughing stock of the league." Not only does our club need to earn respect again, needs to learn to be trusted - but according to the AFL so do our supporters.

However, I will say many of the problems we face so do other clubs.

Reply from the club suggests that the Trident area is only for trident members, and that people with guests have other seats that they can use.  This should work well, as there should be enough space for all comers.  If you have guests, take them to the appropriate area.  The club need to enforce this better.

I had a trident membership and any time we played a big club there supporters just sat in the reserved seat areas.  The only time they were moved on was if the person whose seat they were sitting in turned up.  It was a joke and most of the time it was loud mouth young blokes that where fishing for someone to bite.

The club couldn't do anything about it MCG staff couldn't care who they let in.

Besides the view which to me level two on the half forward flank is the best seats at the MCG, you don't get much else

Would be interested to hear the Clubs response from those that emailed.

Received an email back today from George de Crespigny.

Quote "This was an oversight at the Club and I apologise for the confusion. The solution we have reached (and had support on from Mike Anderson)  is to continue availability of both rooms for premium member use, but that we ask for Premium Members to accept that part of the Ryder Room will be used by Victor Sports for a private function (60 guests) on this occasion."

This is good PR, a prompt reply and an apology. It' won't be ideal on the crowded QB but I appreciated the email, and emailed him back to thank him. He also stated he would look into the amount of RFC members wearing MFC memberships.

As a 20year Redlegs Family Member I was very disappointed that the Club has sold off one of the Rooms that our membership level gets to use during our Home Games. We were informed last night that we will not have access to the Lindsay Hassett Room  for our biggest home Game against Collingwood on Queens Birthday, because PJ and his team have sold it to a sponsor.

The Premium Memberships are up 11% this year and one of the key benefits is the use of this Room which is the main area that we meet up, pay extra and have guests in for the big games like Queens Birthday. We will still have the use of the Jack Ryder Room which can only hold about 400.

We have five of our mates who all live in Regional Vic and Canberra(They are all country/interstate members) who come down for this game Every year and we use it as a great catch up day. Now this year there will be less guest passes and no room for us to meet in.

There is nothing on the web site or any communication from the club re this, yet they are still selling this level of membership and the benefits it can provide.

With our poor start to the year on the ground the club should be looking after all members and not short changing us. My Family membership at this level is substantial, plus the other support we give on game day and through other events that the club holds.

I ask all Premium members to email the club and voice their concern. There was some talk in the room last night of staging a protest outside the room ,which would be very embarrassing for all concerned at the club.

Looks like the club is putting sponsorship before membership. All of these managers are on bonuses bases on turn over. I have no problem with this as long as it is not at the cost of disenfranchising a very loyal and profitable membership level for the club.

Interesting that those with the memberships complaining, have not considered that they have benefitted handsomely from MFC's relative lack of success over a sustained period, and now that we're seen in a more favourable light they are getting value more in line with what they pay.

You've had a good ride, but you've been spoilt. I pay my membership every year and that of family members and expect nothing for it other than an opportunity to watch the boys play.

Support your club & stop being so damn selfish.

Not sure that some are fully grasping the conceept here. I'll do my best.

Redleg/ Trident members pay a premium to have a reserved seat in a deignated MFC area. For the record, this seaon set three of us back just shy of $2000. In the main, most of these members pay this tariff for the following reasons:

1. A reserved seat in a good vantage point.    2. To sit amongst Melbourne supporters.   3. To not have opposition fans in the vicinity.

Whilst I don't necessarily disagree with the ultrauistic notion of opposing fans sitting side by side, paying a premium is the choice these members make and are promised these conditions by the MFC on an annual basis.

I have had numerous correspondence with the club in the last few seasons with plenty of promises and reassurances with no action.I'll do my best to summarise what the club has stated:

1. Premium/Redleg seats are reserved and strictly non transferable. This is not policed. As a matter of interest, similar transfer of membership in the MCC usually leads to automatic expulsion.Nobody other han the named card holder should be sitting in that seat.

2. Redleg/Trident members are entitled to guest passes for family and fiends whom are meant to sit in a separate, non reserved, designated area. Thankfully most adhere to this system.

3. MCC officials on duty are commissioned  to enforce the rules on match day, however, it rarely occurs. Not only are they generally disinterested, attendants change weekly and few, if any, have little knowledge of the system. The simple solution would be to have MFC stafff in attendance to work with MCC however, despite suggestions this will occur, it has yet to happen.

Unfortunately I have been witness to some ugly scenes in the reserved area. Yes, this could happen anywhere. The main difference here is that Redleg/ Trident members have forked out for the aforementioned reasons and feel short changed. Added to this, when opposition supporters infiltrate into reseved areas they are in the minority and it would appear the 'Us Against Them' mentality is heightened. Also,In my experience, being small in number appears to make them even more antagonistic and seem to enjoy baiting MFC supporters.

The MFC profits greatly from the Redleg/Trident members and I think all would agree that they are more than happy to support the club.

This is an issue that coud be easily fixed, however, the club has little or no interest in doing so.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
