Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

No, that was when he'd pulled it. He told the bench he'd pulled it but there was only 10 seconds left and the club, rightly, didn't want to waste a rotation with that long left.

He knew he'd pulled it, his head had dropped and he was consoled by the players at HT.

Fair enough. It looked like he was cramping as he kept stretching.

Didn’t listen to the post match (too much rage), did they say which hammy or how severe?

Wagner?

Really?

He was solid tonight - I’d leave the backline alone other than if someone needed a rest.

Spargo for Garlett

Fritsch for Kent

Stretch for Hannan

Tmac for ANB (not really like for like but we desperately need Tmac presence in the FF line.

I'm a Wagner fan but he didn't win the ball, didn't punch with conviction, doesn't tackle, doesn't intercept and how often does he break the lines and attack? I like Wagner but he seems to have won guys over by just returning to a basic level of competence. Hibberd, Hunt and Brayshaw offer more as flankers and I think we need Jetta, Lever and 2 big guys against Essendon.

I also don't want to see James Stewart kick 5 on Lever and have to start him right back from the start.

Maybe Vince and Brayshaw go in to the midfield and that frees up a defensive spot for the tall. Or maybe they just back Lever in. I'm not sold on it like the forwards changes but we the allowance for a 2nd tall I think we have 7 defenders better. With the short break it might come down to who's up and running, I certainly have concerns with Hibberd and Jetta but I'm hoping they are right to go.

B: LEVER, O.MCDONALD, JETTA

HB: HIBBERD, T.MCDONALD, HUNT

C: PETRACCA, OLIVER, JONES

HF: NEAL-BULLEN, HOGAN, MELKSHAM

F: GARLETT, WEIDEMAN, PEDERSEN

FOLL: GAWN, TYSON, SALEM

IC: BRAYSHAW, LEWIS, VINCE, J.WAGNER

EMERG: HARMES, FRITSCH, SPARGO, HANNAN

Melksham saved his ass tonight, the rest of the all ordinaries didn't impress me at all.

Don't want to see Stretch in the side again he's an absolute spud.

Harmes is useless and Neal-Bullen and the rest of the all ordinaries aren't much better.

T.McDonald MUST play to strengthen our backline and Pedersen MUST play he's our only inform player at VFL level.

Tommy Mc can go to Casey and get some form in limited minutes if he's right to play. Weid's was very good tonight and deserves the chance to show what he can do again.

Get stuffed this is a must win game Tommy has to play in the seniors. I'll be peeved if we lose a must win game and Tommy is at Casey.

Whoever we bring in we are shuffling deck chairs.

Not enough finishers and goal kicking power, outside of Pedders on a good day, in the lot sitting at Casey.  Would have had him in tonight instead of Weids....Weids in for the Saints, Suns and Blues to take a look.  Pedders resting up and ready for a 'managed'' Weids after that unless Weid hit some stellar form.

Goals are at a premium yet we effectively traded Watts for Lever?

We have very few in the mid field who, when under pressure from a good team, hit the scoreboard on a regular basis.  The Tigers had multiple mid fielders kick goals tonight.  We had one part timer in Harmes.

Can't see us scoring enough goals to make the eight.

Our disposals per goal last season under Goody hovered around the 25 to 30 mark.  In the same game against the Tiges last year we averaged 35 per goal.  This match...45.  Last week against the Hawks....off the charts at 59!!

So yes Mr Goodwin, there may have been a step forward v last week (off an extremely low base), but all for nought if you can't put the improvement on the scoreboard.

I saw the fox footy vision of harmes being dragged into the contest in middle so that we had no targets forward, no nous at all. Bring in pederson for harmes. He can proviee a target with Weids.

Wagner, why is he flying for spoils with Lever, hibberd and Omac inbthe vicinity? What is the point of Wagner?

Gameplan needs some serious adjustments as we coped poorly when in possession. Credit to Richmond they are very good. Were porridge ATM.

Have got to the point where I just can’t afford the time to travel & watch suburban grade footballers like, Harmes, ANB, Stretch, Wagner, Kent & Garlett.

By the way, would the fools on this site that continually go into raptures after Garlett plays his one good quarter every 4 weeks please see him for exactly what he is: an absolute cat.

Some of us on this site have been calling for only players with genuine leg speed, good decision making and kicking skills to be recruited for the last 2 Drafts now, but oh no, we continually have to select one paced mids who can’t kick the footy.

And we can finally say the Tyson & Salem for Picks 2 (Kelly or Bontimpelli or Cripps) & 20 ( You don’t want to see the number of very good players taken at Pick 20 or after) is a FAIL.

My last point is that before all the sycophants and eternal optimists start raving on about the Recruiting guy and Josh Mahoney and Todd Viney, just look at the terrible depth and weaknesses in our list DESPITE having so many more early picks over the last 5 years than Richmond, Adelaide, West Coast, North Melb etc, etc who continually finish higher than us every year.

may as well get in early

And that's why we wait until after the game until we pick next weeks side.

FWIW my Demonland votes against Essendon are:

6 Oliver

5 Gawn

4 Garlett

3 Hogan

2 Tyson

1 Toss up between Hunt and Brayshaw but I'll lean towards Brayshaw

Yep sorry Simon coaching aint that simple. Worse than "No Idea" Neeld at selections, matchups and matchdays!

A battalion of coaches in the box surely cut it back to two or three but not a dozen.

Nup seen enough, not up to it!

Roosy must be lamenting structures he put into place only to see it being dismantled within 12-18 months!

Your first sentence unfortunately sums up the state of our playing list.

Each week brings disappointment with both individuals and "the team.""

Goodwin has a few more weeks to turn the season around, otherwise it is going to be a miserable one.

Each week brings hope and optimism but it is hard to sustain.

A couple of good wins will of course change our view but it is difficult to see how that is going to happen.

Cuba is looking good this year.

Season is over.

We are back playing Neeld-era football.

My heart breaks for Nathan Jones.

4 winnable games coming up,  far too soon to call the season CB. If we win 3 of them we are right back in the mix.

There are good signs in amongst the rot we are seeing.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
