Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Gawn Calls for Leaders to Stand Up

Gawn can look at himself. He was on SEN this morning talking about how he grew up a Richmond fan and was out on the [censored] celebrating in Punt Rd after they won the flag last year. Is that a club leader’s behaviour?

Does anyone have any idea who the young leaders at the club are??

Every second draft pick we took for years used to be called 'a future leader of the club' (Trenners, Grimes, Watts, etc.).

Who of the under 23s a future/current leader?

Oliver. And Viney has just turned 24. Lever is also 22.

Rate Oliver to play like a leader, don't yet rate him to carry others along for the ride. Which is not to say he won't get there, but I don't see it at the moment.

Oliver's an interesting one and you're right about Lever (by reputation).

Whilst he's arguably our best player under 22, you don't really see Clarry talking too much to teammates out on the field, pumping them up, putting a hand on their shoulder, etc.  He gives some niggle to the opposition, which is great!  Will be interesting to see who emerges from the pack of very talented young players to be real leaders on the field.

During WW2 The RAF lost all of nearly its squadron leaders as well as its most experienced flight crews within a few months of the start of hostilities. Eventually due to attrition and necessity most aircrew were teenagers and there were officers and squadron leaders not yet in their 20’s running the show. There were elite night fighter pilots who could not drive a car and were legally too young to have a license.. I am sure that if given an opportunity there are real unheralded leaders lurking within the clubs lower and junior hierarchy. And I don’t mean the pinup boy types like during the Neeld era. I guess we will never know whilst the overpaid and over comfortable lot are still in charge.

It's a good analogy, but I think it might have been what Bailey and Neeld had in mind when they cleared out everyone over the age of 28 leaving us with Grimes and Trengove holding the reins...

Good point but different circumstances. Then there was chaos akin to open revolt, now there inertia and confusion.

Well good leadership is standing up in key moments, twice now max has failed to kick the kickable goal. Granted last week in the end didn't help. But Max has been around long enough to kick those.

That's my only blight on max. But yes and we are desperately missing Viney.

An absolutely embarrassing and bewildering press conference from Gawn.

Staggering that he would feel the need to air our dirty laundry so publicly and admit that Hawthorn won the mental battle and have a mental edge over us.  Between the camp and this sort of talk, you would just be licking your lips coming up against Melbourne as an opposition player.

Yep, the moment it starts to not go the way the playing group wants it to, they just roll over.

Ah right, you're that type, yeah?  Take quotes from others and flip them into other threads?  it's rather funny coming from the bloke who spent months potting Jesse Hogan before he re-signed and questioned his worth to the team.  Just goes to show how terrific your knowledge of the game is.

For the record, the last quarter against the Hawks was an aberration.  When was the last time we really played like that?  We might cough up a run of goals far more than we should, but we don't roll over for sides like that.

We rolled over for 9th spot last season. A disaster followed by a disaster in losing 25 percentage  points and four spots on the ladder let alone the humiliation. Just losing the four points seems trifling. How many wake up calls can we take?  For the record, since Hogan got rid of his antics and started acting like a footballer I changed my opinion on him ages ago. Trust you to play the poster and not the argument. I hope the club pays you well for all the spin and tripe you dish out to justify mediocrity.

You were the one who had a dip at my point of view in another thread.  If you don't like someone retaliating then don't act like a child in the first place.

Your changed opinion doesn't now justify that absolute rubbish you posted about Hogan a few seasons back.

Deflect and distract?  That's a good one.  I've discussed my point of view with plenty of people in a variety of threads over the last couple of days.

You, on the other hand, ran off to another thread and had a dip at my point of view rather than challenging it directly at me.  Weak as [censored].

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
