Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Drove past Goshes Paddock between appointments, and it looked like MFC were training (or about to train).  Unfortunately, in the interests of staying employed, I couldn’t stop in.  Anyone else attend, and can offer some insights?  I wonder who looks like coming in?

Read in the AFL injury update that McDonald have overtaken Viney and is now in the 2-3 category with Jack in the 3-4.  Very encouraging for TMac, and fingers crossed for Viney.

Misson mentioned T Mac could be back for the Essendon game and then hopefully the following week.

Apparently Tom told Sam McLure he was almost ready for Richmond game and should be right to go for Essendon.

Thats awesome.   We will need fresh legs vs the Bombers too due to the very small break so its perfect timing.

He wont need any Casey time either, thanks to his natural tank.  He could sit at home eating pizza and drinking beer every day for 8 weeks and still be match fit.

TMac would be such a massive boost if/when we get him back.  He's been back in footy boots for a few weeks now, which is very positive as I believe that's what aggravated his toe last time he upped his loading.  In addition, he's such a naturally gifted endurance athlete that he may be able to get back to match-standard fitness sooner than most.

Fingers and toes crossed.

I dropped past for 15 mins and it looked like they nearly finishing up.

I was down the Northern end and there was lots of one on one contested marking work between backs and forwards resulting in not too many marks but Lever looked good and was disposing of it well.

Maxy was a lonely figure doing set shots for goals and of about the 10 shots I watched ranging from 20m -40m out, all but one went through the middle. His action looks completely different from the 2 misses he's had in round one and last week and seems to have his weight further forward and is only kicking off 3 steps.

The opposite has to be said about Bugg. He was having repeated shots from the boundary and couldn't find the middle. Yuck !

I for one can vouch for this training regime, I'm super fit.

Would be great to have Tom back. It is a short break, but the Bombers have a shorter one.

I'm expecting T Mac will return for round 7 vs St Kilda, no earlier.

As desperate as we are to have him back, surely we're going to err on the side of caution and not rush him back. I hope we've learnt something from the Viney cluster ....you know what...of last year.

While I support the call for a cautious approach, for all we know we may already be doing that by holding him back until the Essendon game.

I don't know why, but I'm amazed at how many people have mentioned about our short break leading in to the Bombers game.  They make it sound like the team we're playing against will be coming off a 10 day break.  Look at the fixture FFS.

Maynard, Frost and Jetta in the rehab group initially. Jetta later joined the craft groups but seemed to be limiting his running.  Didn't look in any discomfort and was working with the backs later in the session.

Weid, King and Flipper doing some drills together early whilst Gawn was in the main group but joined all in full training later.  Interesting that Weid was in this group whilst Pedo was with the main group.  Doesn't seem as though Pedo is seen as a replacement/second ruck.

No sign of Viney or Vanders.  Tommy Mac was running slow laps (in runners) for the first bit of the session and then did some work in football boots but nothing like full pace.  He did a lot of goal kicking practice and was very good.  He was kicking with both left and right and not favouring any foot.  Who knows if they were playing ducks and drakes in the "open" session but if he is as close as suggested I would have expected him to be in the main group or at least doing some high intensity stuff.

Joel Smith didn't do the whole session and finished with the rehab boys at the end but didn't look to be in any discomfort.  I'd think it was a management issue.

Hunt also didn't do the full session and was practicing torps from about 60 out and also long drop punts to the boundary from defence.  Didn't look in any discomfort either and was kicking the ball a mile.

Tyson did the full session.

Was at the northern end as well and Melksham and Bugg seemed to be having a competition at shots at goal.  Melk took the chocolates but you wouldn't feel confident with either having a shot.

There were lots of different groups doing things so it was difficult to see everything.  It wasn't a hard session, just a bit of short sharp intensity work and craft work.

Questions welcome.

Jordan on the track with hand heavily bandage, looked to be acting as assistant coach. Sam Frost in the rehab group. Neville Jetta tested and seemed to have passed fitness. Tom Mcdonald expects to be training with the main group next week.

Plenty of tackling practice, disposal and being very aggressive when under pressure was empathised . Demands by the coaching staff to run hard when ball turns over during 7 on 7 game stimulations. Plenty of running for the group that played against Hawthorn.  Lots of marking drills for our talls. Jesse Hogan, Nathen Jones, Max Gawn all look ready to win against Richmond. Brendan McCartney very optimistic about knocking off Richmond.

A hard at it training session for the players.

IF that's the case we might see the Weide this week against the Tiges, for one game?  Then go back to continue his development with Casey, when TMc comes in?

We have to go in full strength against the Tiges in the blockbuster game.

"fresh legs"... YEP absolutely. there might be many changes for the bummers game.

Then 5 days later the bummers, so I think many runners will come into the side, as we rest plenty.

If this is the case then I say lets throw caution to the wind and play him v Richmond. Whats the worst that could happen.

I saw the first hour of training, TMac was there running laps then was doing goal kicking practice afterwards.

Not to sound pedantic, but was he in runners or footy boots?

(Never mind, have seen the answer in Vogon's training report)

Question: When players are having shots at goal (ie Maxy, Bugg and Melksham) are they supervised? Is there a coach nearby watching them and providing advice or demonstrating technique?

Tyson, and an in-form Hunt will make a positive impact on the team for sure.

I'd bring the Weed in as well for Harmes or Melk or Frost or take your pick!.

thanks for the reports.  im still so flat from Sunday, fair play for getting the motivation up to go to training!

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
