Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Has Weid had many games with Hogan yet?

Probably not.

Even then Hulk wouldn't have been playing high (by design ) as now.

We are well balanced going into this game with an extra tall forward in Weed, and more run with Hunt, Stretch and Tyson.

Providing we can keep our intensity up for four full quarters, and I mean four quarters ,because that’s one of Richmond’s strengths with that constant pressure and effort, then we have a good chance to win this.

Certainly a far stronger and better balanced side this week, but there are still a few passengers on board (Melksham, Harmes, Neal-Bullen & Lever to name four). Hopefully those guys can make a contribution this week.

I'm no Weideman fan, but clearly we needed another tall forward in the side. All I ask is that he consistently presents and crashes packs when he needs to. If he can give us 8 minutes or so of decent ruck work a quarter, that will be a bonus. If Sam doesn't show some appetite for the contest, I hope he is sent straight back to Casey and Pedersen is in for Essendon.

The key to us winning is to play through Rance's opponent and make him accountable. If we just bomb the ball inside 50 and allow Rance to be third man up against Hogan and Weideman, we will be flogged. They are too good at moving the ball for us to stop them once they break from half back.

I like what you said - but it’s very tough to keep the intensity up against the Tigers for 4 quarters. They are one of the fittest teams in the comp ( Port being their only equal) so don’t play to their strengths.

IMHO you do the opposite and play tempo football upping and downing the rhythm of the game to suit us. Restricting their control of the football force them to come to us and weaken their defensive structures.

Just a thought.

Weather turning.  Hope the FD are thinking about  Fritsch for Weids.  Cleaner/quicker hands and a quick pair of heals more valuable now.

Happy that Stretch gets a go this week but yes he needs to show something on the outside.

Nibbler gets a go because we saw the stats, numerous pressure acts, distance covered, contests made, etc the stats that the coaches love.

Frost out because there isn’t a matchup

Weeds in, hasn’t done enough yet, I think

it should have been Pedo tall again forward.

Jeffy in because he does perform if the side/game plan performs. He needs space and time against one opponent and will win every time.

I called it STRETCH HARMES NEAL BULLEN NOT UP TO IT and have said so time and again when will this club ever learn

Pretty sure he was selected Dappa! The timing couldn't be worse IMO.  Couldn't wait 12 days for the Saints, Sons and Blues block?

Yeah. What can I say. Not sure why he was selected at that time...

Maybe Goody knows that he's the future and needs to immerse himself in the high-pressure environment of Anzac Eve?

Maybe he has a "Grand Plan" of having Weed and Hoges as twin towers, with Tmac as the swingman, and Omac and Lever as the stalwarts in defence?

Maybe he knew this game was just "development?"

I dunno. I tend to agree. I never thought we'd win. And there isn't a name in there that I'm not excited about. Hogan, Tmac and Lever are made men. Weed didn't disgrace himself, Omac has been superb this year... Lever, particularly, looked like the real thing tonight on many occasions.

I'm [censored] we lost. I don't think Weed was the right play. But I'll sleep ok tonight. Unlike Goody.

Stretch wasn't up to it unfortunately PF.

While i agree, Harmes & ANB are NQR players there are others i would put before them and you would need to replace with better.  The only option at Casey who i believe could play a similar role to Harmes and has better numbers (ranking him at No.4 overall just behind Jones ...albeit only one match stats to go on which is dicey) is Maynard. I would like to see him in pronto during the Viney absence if he hits a decent patch of form at Casey.

I'm not sure who you would replace ANB with.  Spargo?

Out of players who play a ''close to similar'' role to Harmes i would rate Vince as having a worse year so far.  Has more credits though obviously but is a real concern also.

Melk was one of our best players in the second half. Kicked 21 goals in the last 12 games including at least 1 each game.

Do you actually watch the football?

I think this is somewhat of a myth and continued to grow over the preseason.

He was okay in the 2nd half of the season, certainly not spectacular. He has kicked 0.7 this season and burnt numerous teammates inside 50 (he often did this last season but kicked goals).

On 4/23/2018 at 7:53 PM, Watts the matter said:

Was he? This is news to me and revisionism at its finest.

Which games do you remember him playing and being a significant factor?

He was listed in our best players 3 times for the whole season (this included the final 2 games). He played 19 games (the equal 9th most) and finished 16th in our best and fairest which is skewed towards players who play more games.

21 goals in 12 games does sound good, and when you extend it to a whole season 40 goals would be impressive.

And yes, I watch most games 2-3 times.

Hey @Watts the matter how do you think Melk has gone the last two weeks?

He has played his role nicely, his field kicking was exceptional yesterday, including finally passing to teammates in a better position than him and he is kicking goals again.

Yesterdays performance should be the minimum for a player of his experience.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
