Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Good changes, although I like Fritsch.

Rapt with the Weideman decision.

Pedersen is a dud key forward at AFL level, which has been proven time and time again.

Vs the dud picked this week.

he has played two decent games at Casey in his career. First was half a game last year against Bax Hill and the second against the worst team in the VFL two weeks ago.

he will need to put a 1000 % improvement over his games in 2017 to be effective.

Yes we have to give the chance but I will be amazed if he even earns his spot tomorrow.

Fmd...unlucky...very.. One of the very few to NOT wave the white flag !!

His reward.... dropped.

This club has NO legitimate standards anymore.

I think there is more to it. Obviously we're gonna need fresh legs for Essendon. He'll be a good in on a faster track. Our entire forward line had a poor day.

Not thrilled that Fritsch is out.

I would suggest with Fritsch it's more of a rest and will be the reason why he was not named tomorrow, nor played yesterday. I think the changes work and give us both more polish, run and height. I thought one of Melksham or Harmes would also miss and suggest both are on thin ice if they turn another poor performance. As far as the choice of tall its time to back Weid in ahead of Pedo. Pedo is a stop gap who we know can play a role but really will not kick bags at AFL (nor may Sam yet) and is better as the first follower than the second ruck. After watching the VFL yesterday I struggle to see how well a developing forward can show in that environment once they get used to playing against bigger bodies. He may well drop back when T-Mac returns but lets see where he is at and his form at VFL and on track has been worthwhile by all reports. Its time we invest with measured expectations and acceptance that development will come with inconsistency just like Carlton are doing with Curnow (goals over first 5 rounds 5,2,2,0,0,) and Brisbane with Hipwood (goals over first 5 rounds 1,1,3,0,3).

Id have rested him then...not now.

We need players who put in 100 min

. especially against the likes of Richmond.

This is wrong imho

Posters are stating their preference of Pederson over Weideman based on the formers game on the weekend. I won’t explain to them how silly this is.

Mate I’ve said it before on here and I’ll say it again.

You need to remove that “Pro” part from your name.. Because you have absolutely no idea.

I like the Stretch inclusion. I think he has the potential to be a ready steady consistent player. I want him to become part of the young core of mid/wings (Trac, Brayshaw, Oliver, Salem) that really lift eachother each week and perform to a high standard. Long way to go still obviously.

Do you think Pederson should have been selected for Tuesday’s game based on his game on the weekend or his form so far this year?

I believe that he was very unlucky to be dropped in the first place & had our “small” fwd line against north not worked he would of been straight back in.

I think we are still deep in the poo!

nothing to enthuse about at Casey on Sunday  and now we have the weed in. I might be wrong often am.  But I would have thought to deserve a game as opposed to getting a game for experience

he should have dominated as best on ground a couple of times. Last year he was worse that Watts first couple of games. I want to win games now. Before a bloody well die. Rather than wait while someone maybe gets experience. Or gets so bashed about he loses all confidence.

Though we do have another game quickly so maybe the FD have it all in hand. As confusios said once.

I hope broad does not show him any happy snaps!  Lose all focus.

Fingets crossed toes and eyes crossed

go dees !! Hope we win but not at all confident

Just my thoughts

Maybe they are giving him a rest to bring him back in for the 5 day turn around for the Essendon game.

I'm interested to see how this plays out tomorrow night.

We all know that the Tigers have an excellent defence, and while we've been able to generate a bucket load of inside 50s, we've blazed away more often than not.  With Weideman coming in, does this give us the extra, leading target we've been craving?  At the very least the Weid can provide a contest and bring the ball to ground, even in a two on one situation.  Our mosquito fleet will need to be buzzing for 120 minutes to ensure that they don't get too many easy rebounds off half back.

At the other end we all know how poorly our defence has functioned as a unit in the first month of the season, and I like that we've dropped Frost to accommodate the fact that the Tigers play pretty small up forward.  Will that allow us to play Oscar on Riewoldt which frees up Lever to play the second man up?  Will we be able to release someone like Hibberd into the rebounding role he plays so well?  Can Jetta find some form and play a lock down role on one of their small forwards like Castagna or Butler?

I'm looking forward to how we respond tomorrow night and I think, on paper at least, we match up quite well against the Tigers.  We all know that doesn't get us very far and we'll need every player to give 100% to their role in the side tomorrow night.

Go Dees!

Rubbish. Weeds' first game against Hawthorn was as good as you'd hope from a developing key forward.

Have you watched him play in these games? I didn't see the North game but I don't see how you can say he has been inconsistent in the other games. He has a phenomenal work rate and his ability to compete in outnumbered situations is first class. He does fade in and out within matches. His worst games would be a big improvement on anything Weideman has delivered aside from his first game as he can actually move and is a factor with the ball on the deck.

A promotion on the back of a poor VFL outing seems to be the norm for Weideman, so I'm not surprised.

As always, despite not agreeing with his inclusion, I am hopeful he can prove me wrong.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
