Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yeah let's put on the pressure on a kid who has played less than 10 game. Give me a spell mate.

The Weed will be a star but will still need to find his feet.

He's not hearing what I'm saying precious much, besides it's aimed mainly at the selectors

I think we have at least two changes: Hunt and Tyson in for Lewis and Bugg.

Whether or not Weideman or Stretch get a game, and at whose expense (the extended Casey bench would suggest Vince, Garlett or Fritsch but hard to know how, if at all, that bench has any bearing on a decision that won't be made until tomorrow) remains to be seen.

If Hardwick didn’t have a full overhaul of his coaching methods and philosophy then they never would have gelled like a team and continued to be mediocre.

Fair point, but take Martin & any of Cotchin/Rance/Riewoldt out and they wouldn’t have made finals! Look at their results and see how many games they would have dropped last year without two of their 4 stars!

So explain your point.

The selectors still need to have an eye on the future. Players especially key position players need time to also develop in the seniors.

It is very difficult for key forwards in the vfl, the grounds are smaller, therefore less space to work with and on top of that the delivery is usually not as good.

Look at the small forward role over a season, and the very best in that role have quiet days. Garlett is one of the best, they could only leave him out for fitness reasons.

But they had those players in previous years and were putrid.

Those players aren't the variable here.

Its more than just fitness - its a total player health & welfare plan, almost every aspect of the players life is covered.

They (the Tigers) spent an absolute fortune in this area even down to buying gaming consoles - so in their down time the players can amuse themselves. Seriously everything was covered.

Its all built on the theory of body, mind & soul - based on 100% honest between club, coaches and player - during and extending to after their playing days.

But some people will tell you it was all luck why the won the flag last year - hahaha - or Neil Balme - hahaha

They must have you working hard, hey Who

know the Players and coaches on a first name basis, i am sure. What an absolute hero you are.

PS4’s and a special diet is it, brilliant.

What, and you measure each players poo ? output each day?

you Who, would volunteer for anything little man

get your ass off this discussion board you traitorous piece of rubbish

How dare you make money ? for Richmond and then Pop in here to show us your unwavering support for the MFC.

You will be found out...

There isn't one variable though 'Clint', there never is.

...but those 4 players were a key component of the revamped plan.

Take Rance out and I would suggest the plan falters and they don't win the flag.

Hardwick finally worked to his strengths.

Luck and circumstance along with playing (astute coaching) with the cards that were dealt played a big part.

My point is this, he was gifted games last year with little return, I'm not convinced he's ready yet. Surely we are still playing for the now this year not the future. Would have liked him to have proven himself a bit longer at Casey.

Garlett confuses me.

In the space of 3 weeks, he's gone from bailing us out against Brisbane with a superb 4 goals to getting named in the Casey side (albeit not actually playing).

I'm assuming if he puts up another 5 possession 0 goal game tomorrow night, then he'll be in the twos next weekend.

If Hunt, Stretch, Tyson & Weeds are our IN's - then I think we have nailed it.

You must break down the defensive structures of the Tigers both in the air and on the ground.

You must make them accountable man on man - again if these are our in's I like it. I think we match up well on the Tigers on a man to man basis.

3 sometimes forgotten players from the Tigers are Short, Houli & Valastuin - you must restrict their ball movement out the backline. Then you also must isolate Rance & Astbury and not allow them to play in tandem in the air.  For me Hogan goes to Rance 1 - 1 in the goal square, Weeds takes Astbury .

If weid plays ahead of Pedersen has Goody made a blunder again at selection? Only time will tell I guess.

Weed needs a chance to prove himself...again. If he fails spare parts Pederson returns. Goodwin has to play him. Young players needs to develop and he has been good enough to have another shot. Ross Lyon was criticised for continuing to play his favourite creaky old hacks to the detriment to young talent and that got him into trouble.

Agree with what you are saying but this is now possibly the most important game for the club this year in front of 85,000.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
