Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Anything's possible in this cockamamie world.

Here's something just as conceivable, probable and even likely. They flubbed it, as they have flubbed nearly every challenge in recent times. (Go further back in time if you want.)

This is the team that is "burning" after their finish to 2017. They can't sleep at night!

They'll run through brick walls, these guys! Even go on a boot camp to prove their single minded will to win!

Currently ranked no. 1 at Champion data at "flubbing it" and "putting the cue in the rack" categories and last in "grit & determination".

Bouncing back against RFC is the absolute minimum these guys have to show.

I have serious doubts about the criteria used by Champion Data to measure flubbing it.

I seriously hope so but we’ve really only beaten the Roos and Lions.

With he Bombers getting their act together against Port, we could be looking down the barrel of a very poor start to the year.

Must beat Richmond even though its highly unlikely.

Saturday night’s match wasn’t made for key-forwards, but Tim Smith showed his versatility, gathering 17 disposals, laying nine tackles and spending time in the centre. Senior coach Jade Rawlings threw the 192cm tall on-ball in the third quarter in a move, which helped Casey find its groove. Smith had eight touches and kicked a crucial goal in the term, as the Demons clawed back an 18-point deficit to hit the lead by the final change.

Smokey?

Yep, time to get Smith into the side ... very versatile if fit.

Tigers field Riewoldt and five smalls, you can’t have Oscar & Frost, so Frost goes, and Wagner has to go with Hunt in!

They’re bringing in a backup ruckmen also so keep that in mind as they may rest forward

Will be very interesting in the middle

Yawn first for hitouts to advantage

Richmond last without a real ruck contest but first at clearances

Our onballers must lift their game  to have any chance

Maybe having a great tap Ruckman isn't as much an advantage as it used to be

Well big event re the Tigers game.

A close friend who I have gone to most games with over the last 20 years informed me this morning he has gone to his last game.

He said he has finally come to the conclusion there are better ways to spend 4 hours of your life than being part of the MFC.

I am astounded I thought he would be there at the last ever game.

Sad am I!

Not sure how you work it out RN but I guarantee it is actually closer to 5 than 3..

Games runs 2 hours most weeks plus breaks then add getting there 30 mins before the start already close to 3 hours before you add Travel time.

sadly I am the complete addicted fool. No matter what they serve up and no matter how dejected I get after the majority of games I seem to front up for more punishment.

However I don't go to the number of games I used to the TV gets used a lot more. I am  now a fair weather attendee. A high number crowd, night train trip and or poor weather are turn offs so I won't be there Tuesday night. TV for me.

Dont get me wrong I love going to a game it is just now the Dees have converted me to going when it suits. I am going to see the reserves on Sunday should be fun at the punt road ground I have not been there for a game since 1962.

Are we going to be too tall with Frost in? Do we maybe move Melksham to defence as a mid-sized player and Hunt comes in to replace Lewis, maybe Frost then comes out for Pederson to have a marking forward/relief ruck.

Tyson obviously comes back in, despite ANB's ground covered numbers I haven't really seen him do anything worthwhile for most of the games this year (maybe I'm missing something though).

I honestly don't know what the selectors are going to go for though, it's still baffling to me how bad we were on Sunday.

Was the first quarter or so I was trying to convey in the time difference OD.  Unfortunately my attempt at humour was ''ill timed'.

Sad to hear the news about your mate.  With Bro not able to make it I went alone to the North match the week before and wasn't quite the same even with a solid win.

I also don't attend as many as I once did when I was younger but I make most of the big matches at home and foolishly some away games in the hope of an upset.

The TV is sometimes a good option as i can walk away when getting too antsy and come back to it after calming down a bit!  Often feel I see more of the match vs live.  I still like attending the big matches at home (and occasional away for the upset foolishly) especially vs the big V clubs and also any hoo doo matches to try and support the boys.  Have to say if it wasn't for the Jones boy I probably would have missed many more games during the Neeld era.  Whenever I was wavering he was (and still is) a big motivating factor.

Punt Rd match sounds good.  I have vague memories of passing reserves matches there on the way to the G decades ago and dropping in for the last quarter or so occasionaly. Might even drag the war office down with a lunch bribe beforehand somewhere in Swan St.

Enjoy and lets hope we can do the double!

Don't mind that idea of sending Melksham back, although i'm not sure the FD see Frost as a tall defender only.  With his speed and agility, he can play on smalls too.  I believe he is the fastest on our list in a straight line, faster even than Hunt.

He is incredibly frustrating to watch, he has all of the attributes to make him a gun footballer: size, speed, strength, agility, but he's just not a natural footballer so has to really work hard on knowing what to do.  Then of course there's his disposal.  Really hope he gets it together one day.

Thisis interesting. I felt we played our best footy last year with Watts/Pederson and McDonald as the Ruckmen & was half hoping Gawn wouldn't be brought back in with them performing so well (in the past now). But yes i agree, it doesn't seem such an advantage at all.

I think what would help a lot is Viney, whenever Viney is in the middle we seem to be more proactive and attacking. Without him in i feel we have really dropped in regards to effectiveness.

No not ill timed RN perhaps just my mood however a little humour will not go astray around here this week it has pretty much been " tear each other throats out " stuff.

Until recently I was never a big watcher of games on TV as you miss the build up plays as they are concentrating on the ball area and it is often off the ball that the plays are either created or missed up.

At the game  you often  see a missed option where a player leads to one flank on his own and the player with the ball delivers to the other flank  where we are out number 3 to 1, On TV you only see the ball kicked a contest and believe that was the only option.

On Tv there is little confusion about who has the ball or who created the play.

Stretch and Hunt are in. No doubt about it.

I think they'll be joined by Tyson and Pederson and come in for Bugg, Lewis, Fristch and Harmes.

I think Fritsch should stay in for Melksham but judging by the VFL side named I feel it'll be

IN: Tyson, Stretch, Hunt, Pederson

OUT: Bugg, Fritsch, Harmes, Lewis (inj)

Yes I know Harmes isn't named VFL but surely that's subject to change

Vince will either play this week and rest vs Essendon, or vice versa.

We will definitely see Balic and Stretch sometime in the next two games.

The wait between games is insane,  we really picked a great time to put in a pathetic performance!

Very true OD.  I used to sit in the members on the flank but i now sit behind the goals just aft of the Demon army.  It reveals a bit more of how the plays unfold.  But you usually then miss half of what's happening up the other end and end up having to watch the big TV part of the time anyway.  If only the seats could hover and follow the play around the ground!

For those calling for Harmes, ANB, Frost, Melksham as out, they haven't been named in the Casey squad.  As I understand the rules, if they are not named they cannot play with Casey this weekend...can someone confirm?

If my belief is correct they either are in the senior team/emergencies or they sit out the week.  Sitting the week out for them (or some other players) is conceivable if the mc want fresh legs for the Ess game, altho I doubt it.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
