Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I'd bring pederson in this week and then the weed for Esenscum with pedo being rested for that game.

There's merit in this argument. It seems to me that Pedersen seems to play well first up from a break, with gradually diminishing returns until he is once again dropped for a few weeks. In addition, in this particular scenario, with only a five day break between games, it's possible that a few of our more mature players may need to be rested for one of the two matches, although not necessarily just the second one.

Out for one to two weeks with a broken hand suffered in the 2nd qtr on Sunday.  Probably, explains why he payed poorly after.

I guess it means there will be no need to drop him to Casey...

While tempted to drop half a dozen players, that rarely works. Agree with the thoughts above, Pedo seems to fade a little overtime, but often has a good game first up.

Against Richmond, they have a small forward line and strong key position backs. So for me:

In        Out         Why

Hunt.   Frost.    Tigers only play one tall Riewoldt

Lewis   Tyson.  Injured but should be dropped

Pedo.   Harmes. Forward & ruck balance

Wagner Stretch. Speed

Lucky - Bugg

That was meant to be Stretch in for Wagner!

After a bad loss and feeling gutted l can find atleast 12 changes that they should make. However after a few days down the track the changes are getting less and less.

Hunt, Tyson and Pedo are vital to this weeks side and beyond. I believe that J Lewis and Yes J Lever have to be on notice regardless of their reputation. Enough is enough bring in the inform players.

Be interesting, more interesting than continued losses with our alleged best team, to put many players out on notice of form, replacing these with whoever is strong in the Casey team - just for one week. For the MFC fans, it would bring closer attention to the capabilities of the up-and-comers and may help confirm that a future is viable. It would cause another lapse and loss most probably, but in this current scenario, why not? Those left in the main team would need to play their best and lead the newbies on a mission impossible. Crazy losses, year by year, have left the fans grabbing at the straws of solutions to problems not fully tackled. This would be no different in that regard but it sends a message.

Happened past Gosch's this AM. Caught the last 15 mins of training. Most senior players not there, it looked like a VFL training session.

Players mostly doing interval work, but jogging. Slow run 100m, walk 100m, repeat. All timed.

In two groups. Spargo, Tyson (I think it was Tyson), Stretch, Pedo, JKH, Smith in one group. Everyone else in another group. No "name" players except in first group, and Hunt in second group, and Hannan, who was wandering around by himself taking the occasional casual shot on goal.

Smith has a strapped shoulder and held it every so often. Looked like he was trying to work out how sore it is/was.

Hunt also with strapped shoulder. Is it injured? By jingo ... physique on him is extraordinary. Looks like Viv Richards.

I believe the main group of senior players were doing rehab at the Alfred in the cardio vascular ward. Receiving heart transplants as the previous ones seemed to be shrivelled up and barely functioning. Experts baffled.

Same, same but Hannan for Bugg. Hannan capable of snagging 2 or more.

I think that must have been their warm down.

But I was wondering why two groups? I was looking for hints as to who might be up for selection on AD. Maybe those six players (9, 12, 15, 21, 24, 44)? Does not compute.

In: Pederson, Hunt, Tyson, Hannan, Stretch

Out: Lever, Harmes, Bugg, Lewis, Melksham

Very, very lucky: Frost, Fritsch, Neal-Bullen, Wagner, Vince

Safe (for now): Hogan, Jones, Salem, Petracca, Brayshaw, Gawn, Oliver, Hibberd, Kent (can't believe I'm saying that), McDonald, Garlett, Jetta.

Not playing a CHF / backup ruck is just ridiculously dumb, particularly given the way we bomb the ball forward. We don't need 3 tall defenders against Richmond, and Lever is just slightly more woeful than Frost. Tyson is a given. The others are just shuffling deckchairs on the Titanic, but Bugg has Z-grade skills and I'm sick of Melksham's one handed marking attempts. I would have dropped Lewis before his injury was announced.

I agree with all the ins but highly unlikely to make 5 changes. Lever won't be dropped. So Pedo misses out and Frost pinch hits in the ruck!

Hunt for Lewis maybe? Melksham must be on the chopping block, hasn't had one good game from memory, maybe bring in Hannan for him. Bugg had a great game against North but was back to the Bugg of old on Sunday, tough call as he finds a way to make opportunities, he's just a god awful shot for goal.

Jetta rolled his ankle so do we take a chance on his fitness vs Richmond? We probably need him especially against the smaller forwards of the Tigers.

Lever stays but boy that was a mare of a game on Sunday.

And, it will also be interesting to see what Goody does with Bugg this week.  On one hand, he 19 disposals, laid 6 tackles and had 4 shots on goal.  On the other hand, if you are a forward, your job is to kick goals when you get the opportunity, which he had multiple opportunities and failed.

He had a great game against North and unfortunately along with a few others had an off day on the weekend.

Tough one but I’m thinking he and Melksham will be replaced by Hannan and Weed/Pedo.

The biggest stat that would suggest he didn't have a good day was accuracy.  His other stats, I'd imagine, would be exactly what Goodwin is looking for in him.

As I said, it'll be interesting to see what Goody rates higher, but I'm expecting that Bugg will play this week.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
