Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Yea very disappointing, was noted all week as a statement game (amongst fans) and we chit the bed massively.

Anyone who says theirs reason for that loss are kidding themselves. We’re not good enough, have zero composure, have no ability to stop a run on/turn a game our way and our coaches are questionable.

Very frustrating for the Dees faithful again and again and again.

Things are never as good or as bad as they seem. Today was poor execution and no spread or clean stoppages against a well drilled side. If thats the loss we have to have to drop Lewis, Bugg, Harmes and play another tall forward then so be it. I am disappointed in the game but more interested in the response at both selection and against the best drilled team in the comp on Anzac eve.

I will eat my arm if they drop Lewis.

Worst vice captain in the AFL!

Turn the sprinklers on at training this week, we have no idea how to play with a wet ball

Barass would have them training with the yellow ball in the wet to get them right,, after many many 100 Mtr sprints.

But its much more than just a skill thing.

This has been going on at Melbourne for decades now Under game pressure

We do not handle our own supporters negativity on game day.

The players try harder and harder, until they end up trying so hard, they lose objectivity...  and they become harassed within their own minds.

From that point, the game is as good as gone.

---------------------------------------------------------

we our our own worst enemies on gamedays.

.

lets take it out on the opposition,,,,, instead of our own players.

.

Leave the venom and critique for during the week days Melbourne..

Under Goodwin we haven’t played well when it is wet or windy so today’s result was not unexpected once I saw the weather, I was more surprised that we did so well in the first qtr than anything.

Lever has to go back to the 2’s and find some form, I don’t care how silly it makes the club look in recruiting him on big money it’s the only way he will be any use to us, continuing to play him is doing him no favours

I am sure and many others are gutted by the meek performance. 15 goals 2  to ONE goal 7 after Quarter time.  Haw 54 to Mel 53 inside 50s. smashed in the middle 56 to 39. missed Tyson today  We are missing one tall forward. However some of our players definitely  not skilful.

We need to make some changes maybe quite a few because some are receiving free games. I hope that Tyson and Hunt get back in and whoever else really wants to play for the Dees.

Well... anyone do anything interesting today ??  ?

At the Comm Games in QLD. Watched the Australian netballers (shortest priced favourites ever) get done by a single point with a penalty after the final bell. Probably less painful than being at the 'G.

Son and heir texted the progress from the 'G - good to see his vocabulary expanding nicely...

The only blokes I have faith in at the moment are PJ, Oliver and Max.

I'm with you, red.  It's a very, very disappointing loss that we have to swallow today, but I'm very interested in what Goodwin and the players do from here.  While much lies at the feet of Goodwin, some of the players have to take responsibility for their performances as well.

A big 8 days lie ahead.

Pretty much summed it up perfectly.

Time to accept majority of the list is still mediocre, I don't know where this depth thing came from. At least ten blokes are vfl players in their skill and decisions.

This coaching group have undone much of the game plan improvement Roos brought us.

Lack of leadership remains an issue.

Wow. What in the hell was that? Turned up to play in the first quarter but as soon as the Hawks found their rhythm and the rain came so did our game plan and effort. I'm completely lost for words after that.

All I can think of right now is the phrase that was thrown around after rd23 last year. How it was going to 'burn in the guts'. That's all just words it really is.

It was.  I'm not worried as such, I think frustration was the overriding emotion for most of the day.  But to watch us put the cue in the rack the way we did was the thing that got me worried.

Lever has made us worse because we don't know how to use him properly.  I say we, but it's really on Goodwin.  Teams know how Lever plays and they're doing everything they can to drag him away from the play.  We can fix it, but it's clearly going to take a little time.

What I want to see is a response.  Alright, we've been done by 10 goals today in an embarrassing performance.  What are we going to do about it?  Will we do the same things again next week and let Richmond put us to the sword, or will we make some changes to both personnel and the game plan, and look to fix up some of our issues?

It's going to be a long 8 days ahead...

I don't think bending over and picking up the ball or hitting a target with your foot has much to do with structure. The problem is he isn't even doing the basics to an acceptable level.

It's a whole other debate about what he is already making us have to do structure wise. Losing a runner off half back so he can play third tall. He would want to learn to play key defender real soon or Casey will be his next destination.

We can go back for 15 years pretty see sure this site was live then plus demonology, it is the same every year mentally weak dumb footballers.  Our players are robots programmed to play one way.  The conditions dont suit our players cant change

Clarkson clearly won this one. Fortunately for me I only saw the scores after quarter time. Then last 10 minutes.

My wife thinks I am unhinged watching such tripe. I’ve been watching carp football for most of the last 50 years

couple of good years but not enough

she might be right.

We lost this in the Box...makeno mistake

Bunnies in headlights ... effectively did sfa to remedy the hemorrhage !!

Take a bow Simon/Brendan

No we didn't, we lost this out in the open air of the Arena.

Not the coaching.

The players became shell-shocked. From the hawks sole intent on Pressure in the 1st, and from our own unfriendly-fire.

We undermine our own, and have been doing that to ourselves foe many a year.

This is partly why we becAme a front-running team in our past. because when Our boys are 'on', the supporters are 'on'... everyone is Happy.

But add focused opposition Pressure to shell-shock those D's,  and then watch them Implode..................  from over the fence first.   The whole vocal-theme changes from the positive,,,  into a ferocious attack on our own men.

Particularly the pressure of the Poos and Wees.

Why on earth did Goodwin sacrifice an in form Jones on mitchell?? Blokes an idiot. Should of sent Melksham or Vince..

Why on earth were Hawthorn allowed to play a goal keeping like FB in Stratton all day?

Game plan was clearly not altered to play in the wet. Kept bombing it long to our SMALL FWD LINE!!

We couldn’t lacked heart, endeavour and cool Heads under pressure.

The only few that could hold their heads high weee OMac Hibberd Kent & Gawn.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
