Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

For anyone who's interested I can confirm it is a horrible night in Hobart, had to pedal my bike down the hills to get to work otherwise I would have been blown back up them.  Just sitting here listing to the rain belting down on the roof. Shame because yesterday was perfect weather for footy.  Anyhow, should make for an already terrible game to be even worse.

Just need north to get up to get my multi home.

There certainly are a few hills in Hobart mate.

You post makes one wonder what the economics of a roofed stadium in Hobart would require.

Not sure we'd get the events/attendances to make it work.

Interesting article here on stadium costs ... unfortunately it does not go into the roof costs.

The new WA stadium averaged out at $17K per seat which is very high by world standards.

Location: Borisov (Belarus). Capacity 14,000. Cost per seat: $4000. Location: Port Moresby (Papua New Guinea). Capacity: 15,000. Cost per seat: $3700. Location: San Jose (US). Capacity: 18,000. Cost per seat: $7500. Location: Buriram (Thailand). Capacity: 32,000. Cost per seat: $720. Location: Mainz (Germany). Capacity: 34,000. Cost per seat: $2500. Location: Sao Paolo/Palmeiras (Brazil). Capacity: 43,000. Cost per seat: $6400.

I could go on, but the point is clear. If football venues across five continents, including clubs from the Bundesliga and the MLS, can be built at least 25 per cent cheaper than here, and in many cases more than 50 per cent cheaper, why do our governments continue to pay so much? The new AFL Perth stadium is up around $17,000 per seat. Incredible.

Think you will find Australian wages are very high compared to many countries around the world. Just a thought.

I am glad we don't play in Hobart this year. Having said that they should move North down there permanently and carlscum should play all their home games at Etihad instead of contaminating the MCG.

They decide to build the new stadium in the middle of a boom and massive skills shortage.  hence the contracts to get workers were way above average.  They should have waited a few years when the boom was over to get it down.  Would have been far cheaper.

West Coast & Fremantle are both very well run sports entertainment businesses- think they can afford it to keep their supporters happy.

Think they made a few errors but I’m sure they can fix them up.

How can it ever be a horrible night Hobart ???? You've got Lark, Sullivan's Cove, Nant and probably another half dozen excellent whiskeys down there. Buck up Big F

It's great watching Carlton get absolutely flogged, even if it is by North.

Even after their poor start to the year the media still want to try and talk up Bolton, talk up their 'good' young players... and then they come out yet again and serve up this sort of rubbish.  They are going nowhere, fast, and it's a joy to watch.

Maybe SOS can recruit even more GWS cast offs at the end of the season to get them going.
