Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

BF...no good ever comes from such ventures. They drink their own waste water !! ( Think about it ;) )

They have had a little success in the modern game. Take no notice.

Gus for Dom is logical.  The only question for me is do we retain Fritta's coolness and superior strength overhead, or opt for  Mitch Hannan as an additional mid rotation?

I really rate Tyson and he was excellent in 2016 when we rolled a top of the table Hawthorn.  While I think Brayshaw will be a very good player, he’s not at Tyson’s level yet, so this inclusion is a net loss for me.

Hannan’s inclusion is interesting  and seeing his name along side Fritsch on the extended bench is going to be a common problem for the match committee.

I predict just the one change though.

Age obviously dictates plans, but I recall this line being said a year ago, until the let down of Weeds first month last year had everyone demanding Pederson be brought in.

Nah, mate.

If Gawn was injured Pedersen would be in straight away and do a good job as an undersized follower.  But as a dedicated key forward he's no good and won't be recalled if Tom McDonald or Weideman are available.

The club has handled Weideman perfectly and he'll repay the favour when they deem him ready.

1 goal, 11 p’s and 0 tackles last week.

Which stat makes him a certain starter.

None. I’m just a big fan.

Weid relief for Max also makes sense. Just save the Fritsch.

It was interesting to hear Dermies thoughts on this game (something you can't always say about Derm). He was pretty confident that the hawks can knock us off if their young backline holds up. I wasn't really aware they're that young as they have Frawley and Sicily who is relatively experienced. But if that is the case that they're young/inexperienced let's hope that's an area the coaching staff have reviewed and can try and exploit.

What is our strategy when naming a large extended bench?

it’s obviously not to keep them guessing because everyone knows Garlett plays.

It’s not to give the 50 50 guys a chance because Tyson would be there.

Reward the form at Casey and Balic probably gets on the extended bench.

i can’t work it out.

Will the multitude of Pedersen lovers finally work out he's not in the coach's plans ?

He's no key forward and Weideman is clearly ahead of him.

Fritsch averaged 12 disposals and a bit over 2 goals per game for Casey last year.  He was robbed of 12 disposals and 2 goals last weekend.

Those expecting much different this year don't understand the player or what his contribution will be at AFL in 2018.

If he keeps his pressure up and keeps taking contested marks, hitting the scoreboard, and showing flashes of brilliance he'll get regular games.  He's a special talent that's wasted at VFL level.

Haha get that. Just don’t get who they have named, who they haven’t  named and why.

Hunt is one of my favourite players but he should not be named.

Garlett is in AA form and named on the bench.

Balic is more likely to impact a game than Weid

perhaps I am reading too much into it.

What he has done so far when the ball is in his space has been sublime and probably of similar output across the 3 rounds, My observation is he hasn't got to as many contests and his tackle count has certainly dropped over the first three weeks.   This is the basis why I think he may get dropped this round if we choose to bring in Weid. If not for Weid he should continue his development in the seniors as agree his has some serious attributes.

I would have said Hannan.

Fritsch and Hannan are both goal kickers with freakish talents. It comes down to defensive pressure as to who plays.

I’d have Weed in for Tyson. I reckon we need more height up forward with hogan playing midfield minutes.

ANB, melk, Lewis etc can all take more midfield time to cover Tyson. Play jones inside all game.

Gus in next week if he is in the best for casey

Agreed. I think we need to give Pedo credit where it’s due. He was very good for us last year in very bad injury circumstances where we lost not 1 but 2 rucks. He is much better around the ground than as a stay at home forward where he is not tall enough or agile enough to really hurt you. He is pretty good overhead.

With Gawn absolutely dominating, there is simply no need for Pedo, and while TMac is injured I would like Weids to be given a run of 3-4 games and see where he’s at. It’ll give us another target that will allow Hogan to play more midfield minutes, and it will give him a taste of AFL level again. Plus he can pinch hit in the ruck, a much better option than Harmes!

Disagree. Hannan's pressure and impact is inconsistent.I would prefer they stick with Fritsch if that was the case. I think if the change occurs it will be to bring in the extra tall. Its nice to have options.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
