Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Hawks on Sunday - Predictions

was going to add to the changes thread but doesn't really fit

I'm so intruiged  by the Hawks game coming up on sunday. The pessimist (MFC supporter part) in me says we wont win. the Hawks have certainly improved. Beat Geelong and lost to Tigers by a goal. But then sometimes I think about Trac and Clarry and Jesse and I think we should easily beat them if we have the belief.

One of the MANY defining games of our season and I can't wait.

So what are your thoughts, predictions?

I think we will hammer them by 1 point  ;-)

Hogan will elevate himself to elite status and destroy chip and Lever will finally look like belongs and intercept all day

Got a feeling we will [censored] the pants off them.

Our midfield is way too deep and talented and just starting to come together..  Hogan has added a whole new dimension and Salem is hitting form.

5 points down 30 seconds to go Gawn marks at  the 45, Frawley runs into the protected area, 50 mt penalty. Max runs down the clock. Bam 1 point win, karma.

I think and hope we win fairly easily. Our form is not that bad even though some posters believe we are not playing well. Plenty of inside 50's in all 3 games. Just need to be a bit cleaner going forward and we will absolutely thrash a team. Should have, could have beaten Cats. Brisbane in Brisbane on a hot, humid night was a good win. Look at Lions. They nearly beat Port in Adelaide so there form is not bad then gave North a start and won by 6 goals. We continue winning the ball in contests and lower eyes going forward a win is on cards this Sunday.

I’m predicting a close tight game, Demons 10 goals up by half time, then we are going to slow down hit the wall and have a final margin of 103 points win to us.

Logically, I’m going to complain about the weather, the umpires, our guernrsey, the AFL and the starting time of game - if this 103 point margin is not obtained.

Ahhh Go Dees

I reckon we will win this. Hawthorn's ball use inside 50 for large parts of the Richmond game was far worse than our ball use. They constantly kicked to the advantage of the Richmond talls.

If you cut off Mitchell or at least limit the damage of his disposals, then it means Hawthorn will have to operate on the counter from half back. They certainly have the leg speed (Smith and their pacey smalls), but I'm not as convinced by their foot skills anymore.

If we convert our chances inside 50 (ugh, Bugg and Kent), lay enough tackles across half forward to keep it in there and up the tempo in the midfield, I can't see Hawthorn being able to cope.

But Hawthorn are coached by one of the greats, so even though our best is far too good for them, if Clarkson's men can use the slingshot against us and they take every chance inside 50 (think Daniher against us in 2016), they could beat us.

My feeling though is this one's in our court.

Last week i saw Jones getting the ball in his range and looking for an option to short pass to. This was more ANB type forward work but very happy to see the captain not bomb it and look for another option.

I think the lead will change more than once and the Hawks are just so well coached, disciplined with defensive setups and kick unfalteringly to position that their less talented team will mean it will be heart in mouth for the last 10 minutes.

I'm feeling pretty good about this game. It's amazing what a win can do. I think our confidence is up, the players are very fit and hungry for the contest. We still need to fix up a few issues, and we can't allow the Hawks to kick away early as they'll put us away better than North could, but I think we are more than evenly matched.

Dees by 4 goals.

Staying nearby so went and watched the 1st half of Richmond Hawthorn, think we have Hawks covered, they'll need either Roughead or Rioli to have big games to beat us. Tiges however ???

I think the Hawks will do well with the umpires in front of goal, and that the Dees will have to recover the game from the middle of the second quarter, as what happened against North. In a clever move, Hibberd and Frosty will come out of the backline hard, passing effectively to our mids and fwds who will kick multiple goals within range, and crumbing smalls will buzz the Hawks defenders in their three-setup to kick the rest. Kent will play a pivotal role in this with 3 running goals from 45-50 metres. Fritzy will lead up well, receiving several low passes and will have some time to leap for a few, as well. Of course, he will convert accurately. Lever will trouble the Hawk talls, coming across from the side to intercept and handball/pass forward. Jones and Gawn, BOG with Clarrie taking 35 possessions and kicking 4 goals. ANB back to form and effective. Melksham will get those 4 goals missed across the last two weeks. Bugg will flatten Mitchell. Tracca will tear the Hawks' half-backs to pieces and kick quite a few longish goals. Pedo will come into the side as the ruck backup, kicking 3 from CHF.  Goodwin will turn OMac into a fwd, slotting Frosty at FBack in the 2nd half. Hogan will ruck and rove from midfield and fwd line, and will kick 5.

Dees by 40 points at 3qtr time, 60 pts at stumps.

1 hour ago, Stretch Johnson said:

I predict that Clarko will try to man up and isolate Lewis and play through his opponent.

Easy way to counter that is to move Jordan to the forward line.

I think we win by around 20 points.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
