Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Money ball has been used at Casey for at least a season or two and I assume it is also used at the MFC.

Have no idea f what it means but I suspect it is simply taking the risk if you have the opportunity to solidly improve the overall progress of the ball in our favour. As you say... take the smart option having regard to risk and reward

If we want to 'change the narrative around our club' (Goodwin's words) 'money ball' is a good phrase to not trot out in public!  Too easily attached to our very recent but darkest, darkest days and worst ever coach.  I cringe whenever I hear it.

a reasonable day's effort even if oppo was weak

still think we need an extra tall in forward line despite the smalls having a day out against norf

think weid needs to string together a few more good games in the vfl

If he was not BOG he was very close dc. His marking is amazing when he is on song one grab clunk all over. On top of that he was all over the ground no lack of running etc. now admittedly the opposition was not great but he is too good for VFL.

Pedersen can only play as an onball short ruckman to be effective at AFL level.  He's very ordinary as a stay at home key forward.  He's never kicked more than 3 goals in a game.

Even Bugg's done that on more than one occasion.

I'd like another tall in, but it will be Weideman when they think he's ready.  I hope.

His second quarter which was played right in front of me was superb.

In the last quarter (down my end again) he was very useful. His body shape was so different to the rest of the guys as I mentioned during the match. A solid man among the relative adolescent sticks.

Too good for VFL as you say OD but maybe not there for AFL. A bit like JKH I am afraid.

The other dilemna is that with him in the side Casey have too many talls which could in the longer term stunt the growth of the next generation skill wise. Remember the days of Sauntner and Newton ... not suggesting it would be that bad but you need to think about what you are trying to achieve with the reserves team. It may not just be the thrill of winning.

In respect of the Weid if and when he is selected for AFL the seniors could face the same problem when Tom Mc returns.

As said we need to keep in mind who the reserves were playing yesterday. I was impressed by the Weid for the first time ever but I would want to see that repeated a few more time yet before he is selected for the seniors. As for when T mac returns I would love us to be in the position of having to wonder how we  find a spot for him in the seniors.

Despite the name "Avalon airport Oval" which depicts visions of windswept plains and a near abandoned airfield I see the oval is actually in Werribee backing onto the river. Moreover it is next to Bungie's Hole (not sure what that is).

A night game though so I may give it a miss... but one never knows... some local knowledge on the expected culinary delights might tempt me !

Suspended in your first game for a new club... must be some sort of record

If we have all the highlights clearly we have the whole game. We need to pressure the club to put the whole game up.

I could watch Weideman line up and kick all day. Such a great technique.

Looks like a number of boys worked hard to get on the end of it in an open goal.

Next week should give us a better indication of how some of the boys are tracking.

I looked at the goal highlights and was also most impressed by Weideman’s Kicking technique - always have been since his debut but we had more opportunities to observe it in this clip.

Well done .... I hope he remains at Casey until the powers that be feel he is really ready for AFL ..... but of course I don’t know, could be this week or next month?

To any who were at the game, how much ruck work did he do and how did he go at it?  Does he look strong enough for ruck work at AFL level this year?

Having watched the highlights I'm starting to think they beat no one but witches hats.

The team work looked very good which is a good sign - although with such a strong AFL component that should be expected, there's not 10 AFL guys and 10 VFL guys who have rarely trained together.

But really - any contest in the video is a big on a small or Casey player zooming past a tentative Coburg player.

For instance King - still early in development for a ruck, Flip - a baby, a Weeds - a key forward who isn't really overly tall or high leaping combined for over 50 hit outs. All the mids got a heap of the ball and shared it around and the forwards walked in to goals.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
