Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

OK, so Frost is named at CHF.  They tried that at start of 2016 and it definitely did not work.  Some here assume he will actually play in defense.  So, who gets pushed out of defense and who will be the other tallish forward?  Do we have another tallish player who can mark and kick goals!

If we continue to bomb it i50 and they play an extra down back then heaven help us with a short forward line.  North will have 2 or 3 up against Jesse every time the ball gets bombed in.  Even if it goes to ground our small forwards have not shown the tenacity of Tiger small fwds to keep the ball in our fwd line.

It looks like a makeshift forward line. Will be keen to see who kicks our goals :(

Goody certainly keeps you guessing.

Frosty plays back as a straight swap for Hunt. Might go with Waite, which as people have been baying for might free up Lever to be Captain Zone Man. Might also be a an attacking HB replicating Hunt's role. He won't go anywhere near brown. I hope. Won't play forward. I hope. no he won't.

Kent can only play forward so that's easy. And it suggests to me we will see more of the quick long bombs into our forward line, which sounds counter intuitive given we are down a tall in Pederson (who is stiff really - he has competed hard for the last two games) but i reckon they will be banking on Hogan, Trac and (remarkably, given how few games he has played) Fritsch to mark or bring the ball to ground. And look for gawn to push hard forward, leaving our talls at the other end to take care of things down the other end height wise

I think it is Frost for Hunt - don’t think height, think speed and distribution.  Kent replaces Pedo.  Hard body to play wreckit Ralph in the front half.  He can mark and can kick a goal.

The issue with that is we have just the one tall target up forward, and who gives Max a chop out?   Obviously that will be Frost.   I guess we will find out tomorrow how we structure up.

Maybe Fritsch at full forward,  maybe Petracca but then that robs the midfield.

I am sure there is a plan in place.  Will be interesting to see it unfold.  It will be a fair game of chess.

Kent is classy, quick and is a runner who kicks goals.

Frost plays tall and is also a runner who can be very quick,  insurance for Brown, but also makes us more attacking.

Pederson has been just ok and Hunt seems to be low in confidence.

Good changes.

Time will tell.

Either brilliant, or dreadful.

The two best players from Casey replace the two of the worst for MFC, so it makes sense in that regard. Struggling to make sense of it from a team balance point of view, but I'll reserve judgement until after I've seen how it goes.

Re: Brayshaw, I recall a couple of posters in last weeks Frankston game commenting he ‘wasn’t into it’ and had a poor attitude . Can anyone else help me out here?

Perhaps explains his omission again?

Lucky he won't play there then.

I don't mind the selections, but I'm baffled how you could drop Hannan after round 1, but then keep Bugg after last week.

Forward pressure is the answer. Hannan floats in and out of games and from game to game. He will play one very good 3 goal game, two ordinary one goal some impact games, another one goal little impact game and two poor hardly touching the ball games.

He needs to make it 2 very good games, 2 good, an ordinary and a poor, then he’s worth it!

I hope this is the case Buck.  Kent has shown patches of nice play at times but can also turn into our worst version of the invisible man at times.  Fingers crossed.

Add in Petraccas set shots...

New year new Kent. Give him a chance before writing off his kicking. He's good on the run and mightve worked on set shots over Summer.

I was going to say Pedo is stiff. I think I’ll go with Pedo is unfortunate.

What exaclty was he not doing? I thought chf was there to bring it to ground, aid in a moderate amount of  assists and hold up their end of a zone, all of which he did? Goals and pack marks a big bonus given circumstances of a dewy match? I fear we will be horrendously out marked this week.

Filling the whole down back with Frost / Lever (in tandem) and one less up forward means more space for Hogan, Jeffy and Tracc to work their magic Lucifer!  We don't need Hogan to mark too often, just get it to ground and get our Ferrets (Jeffy/Hunt/Kent) to pounce front and square etc.

Presumably Frost is set to follow Brown around all day, from deep forward to into the ruck - hope he’s worked on his tank all summer, cos Brown is super fit

Vince to follow Higgins presumably and I would guess we are stacking our mids and going small up front, possibly a four man forward set up

Jetta - Frost

Lewis - Lever - O Mac - Hibberd - Wagner

Gawn - Oliver - Tyson - Salem - Vince - Jones - ANB

Melksham - Petracca - Garlett

Hogan

Bench: Harmes - Kent - Fritsch - Bugg

As others have said it will depend on the delivery and pressure on those trying to deliver Doodle.  IMO this is a great challenge to those further up the field to look / glance before they dispose and try to get it to the advantage of designated forwards or put it out in front for them to run onto.

Quick long raking kicks out to favoured side of forwards (where possible) are also better than up and under bombs.  We need to work on that side also this week.  The Hawks do this beautifully week in week out without necessarily hitting up forwards all that often.

Dont like selections at all

Bugg was woeful last week ,

Harmes just as bad ( and drinks his own bathwater)

Would not have dropped Hunt under any circumstances as he has pace that can hurt

Pedo very very stiff

As for Gus what the fuuurg is going on there??

Dont like it ! Norf to continue the "Hoodoo"

and if so we wont have improved 1 Iota on last year

Sorry but reality and pragmatism bite HARD!

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
