Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Exactly!

Room for improvement. But does anyone seriously think we’re going to try using this exact game plan again. Live and learn

We've been using this exact game plan since Goodwin took over.  2 off the back of the square, win the contested ball and get it forward.  Sometimes we look terrific, other times we're okay and then there are times where teams run all over us and we don't know what to do.

My only criticism of Goody at the moment is that he seems a little stubborn and unwilling to implement something else when things aren't going our way.  Teams get a sniff and go bang, piling on goal after goal.  We need to learn to get better at this and be willing to tweak things more often when we sense the momentum shifting.

I won't join the wrist slashing brigade, good teams find a way to win terrible games.

I dont think we are a great team though. Still have issues to sort out.

Hopefully Hogan is ok. Was very good tonight in a game that didn't suit big men.

How crazy are the results at the moment

It’s  like the Geelong game with a different result. We barely lost to a top 5 team, nobody’s happy. We let a bottom side team in, but beat them by 26 points nobody’s happy. Geese not every game is going to be decisive one way or the other

It's the Demonland way. Never happy.

I will take that win anyday. The humidity is a factor and when they levelled we. found a way to win. How many MFC sides would have folded in the last 10 years .. Bugg is not up to it so bring Brayshaw in and frost in the backline probably for wagner.

Played with a piece of butter in the last half, was always going to churn (hehe lolz) into a game style we weren't used to and they were.

Hoges - Brilliant. Nearly midfielder numbers for KPF, glorious.

Garlett - Anyone who says he was borderline for selection can get stuffed, since coming over from Carlscum he's cared and tries. Glad he was so important to us for that win.

Oliver - Sublime.

Lever - When we set up right you see what he was brought to the club to do.

One of the things that will need to change tho, once Viney comes back is I'm not sure there is a place for both Lewis and Vince in the team.

Still not playing with our best after two games and the way we can kick quick goals will hold us in good stead against most teams (and yes the drop offs in a single quarter are still a problem).

Go Dees!

Again, I’m sure he will realise now it’s one game too many. In all seriously, our players were too cocky. One Brisbane got in the game, they panicked. You can’t take away from how Brisbane played in the second half, they were good while we were awful.

Main point is, we did step up in the end and never gave them the lead. We did win the game. Early games can be tricky as we don’t know what sides are capable of. It was an ordinary effort, but there is no way in hell im going to sleep disapointed when we win a game.

Be sleeping in my gurnsey tonight for sure

I stopped watching when it was scores level or an equivalent in the last quarter. Only 5 minutes left on the clock. I bet heavily on Dees at the line of 22.5 points, I am absolutely floored we got it. I wish I kept watching the end... I really missed out.

Could definitely have done without the heart attack.

Goes down as a 26 point victory, that's the main thing. I'm not going to mourn, though I know plenty will.

Jesus, I need a drink.

On my second bottle of home-brew after the match. What a stroke of luck -- even the umpires were wearing Brizzy jumpers. Lewis was expensive time and again. Jetta had another bad game but worked hard tonight. Lever needs a support key tall - like Frosty. Melksham was unlucky with three missed goals. A 26 pts win was good, however, in the last 12 minutes. Carna Dees.

I will absolutely take this win....an up & coming team on their home deck ....horrible conditions...please don’t talk about their outs because our outs more than compensate theirs.  I always worry when we play up &  coming home teams on their own deck early in the season...we are also a fairly young team who will improve as the season goes ...so yes I am ecstatic we won !! It is 4 points !!! The best part Hogan ...Oliver ...etc ...go dees

Garlett, Hogan and Oliver thank you very much.

Poise, class and desperation when required by the above.

OMac.....All-Australian form? Maybe one kicked on him tonight.

Why didn't he realise it last week?  Or in the numerous games last year where it happened?

I'll always be happy with a win, but I have a few doubts about the game plan when the heat is on.  When we have the momentum we look a million bucks, but when the momentum changes we look like a deer in headlights.

IN the 2016 grand final once Dogs got a sniff, Sydney could not stop the momentum. We gave them a sniff, but we did manage to stop them overtaking us and pushed the lead out again. But seriously I think defeatism has sunk in so far for some people they don’t know anything else

The huge positive for me was Hogan's performance.  23 touches, 9 marks, 5 goals and a ripping chase down in the second term.  He looks fit, hungry and ready to tear the competition apart.  When he plays like this we are such a better side for it.  Long may it continue!

Did he come off after his last goal with a groin issue?

I will always take a win no matter how ugly. I thought the Lions showed up our lack off speed and inability to defend, small fast forwards. Charlie Cameron showed us up all night, Christianson around goal and Zorko in the forward 50. We have Garlett up forward but we lack that explosive pace in the midfield.

In the 2nd half the Lions were prepared to go longer in the slippery conditions and play in front, while we were still trying to hit up targets. There were a number of silly frees resulting in goals against Hunt, Jetta and Lewis.  It took a while till we started playing wet weather footbal and stop over possessing. The six day break and high humidity also didn't help us so I am glad to get away with the 4 points

If Goodwin doesn't bring in Frost to man Ben Brown and let Lever play his normal game I give up. Lever is atrocious 1-on-1 but I've been led to believe he's handy if he can be a 3rd defender. So let him do it.

Oscar can take Ben Brown.  He did a pretty good job on his a few weeks ago.

That was certainly a regrettable lapse in concentration from the side tonight, but it was still a win.  You have to be happy that the side got their [censored] together and pulled away again.

I think Lewis has to be on very shaky ground right now.  His poor discipline is costing us and I don't see much in the way of on-field leadership from him.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
