Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

So it's all about winning for you then, last week's game was a really good game of footy, apart from the last kick I enjoyed and appreciated it

I’m a melb supporter Saty and for the last 10 yrs it hasn’t been about winning.

It would be nice if we could win consistently for the next 10 yrs.

Would make it more enjoyable to follow our club for a change.

Lose tonight & it's season over..  Simple. Serious finals sides don't lose games like this.

Yep. These games are bread and butter if the club is serious

we say it every year....

How much do the players want success?

Close enough is a loss

To win is 4 points

Interestingly when Lewis was on afl 360 he said something along the lines of “after a loss and on the team bus some of the players didn’t seem to be hurting as much as they should be”.

Tells me a lot about our mindset which reflects our performances.

Until this changes (between the ears) we will be an up and down team with inconsistent results and bloody frustrating to support.

Hopefully that changes this season.

So am I, but I keep footy in perspective

I follow the Club anyway in more ways than one, promised a big Irishman

A win tonight would be good, I watch the footy to enjoy, don't watch for mistakes etc if we play well we give ourselves a chance to win

Just don't issue emotive ultimatums

One thing is certain tonight - the Lions will kick a few goals.  They might even kick the first.  At some point they may even kick a few in a row on their home deck.

It's important not to soil yourself when this happens.  Remember, one and all, that opposition teams will kick goals against us at some point.  It doesn't mean it's the end of the world, that it's 2013 again or that Oscar McDonald is a spud.  It means none of that.

I fully expect the Lions to have a real crack tonight and they'll probably be a little tough to put away, especially at home.  I also expect us to be able to keep them at arms length and put them away when necessary.

It's quite funny reading the posts in this thread.

There seem to be two views. You get the logical, reasoned poster who notes that we are well in front of Brisbane in development and talent and that, on paper, we are a 5+ goal better side than them. And you get the posters who, for better or worse, and whether or not they accept we are on paper a better side than them, cannot shake that gnawing feeling that this is precisely the sort of game the MFC loses.

We're not two home/away games removed from the most recent instance of us losing a game we should have won, against a side we are unquestionably better than.

I fully understand anyone who can't help but be slightly concerned about tonight. We've achieved nothing as a club to warrant confidence.

Edit: but the conclusion I was going to draw was that we are, actually, much better than them and we are capable of winning this game, even on the road, by a substantial sum. I expect a win.

Arrived at the Gabba. A tad soft underfoot but no rain imminent. High clouds but plenty of blue sky visible. Currently 26 degrees. A breeze, maybe worth a couple of goals favouring the eastern end of the ground.

Very shortly jumping on a train for the pilgrimage up to the Gabba.  First time I've seen the Dees play live for several years.  Looking forward to it, and expecting a BIG win!

(Taking my Lions supporting neighbour, so should be interesting banter -- especially on the trip home...!)

Go Dees!

Likewise.  Nearly into Roma St now and getting nervous.  Can't wait till the first bounce.  If we pull off a good win tonight, I'll be absolutely pumped.

Go DEMONS!!

Thanks for the pitch report PD, hope you didn’t lose your keys

is the eastern end of the ground left or right of screen?

Absolutely.  Time to turn the corner from just being compeditive, to actually being a good/finals side.

Will be more than happy if this is what transpires.  I've actually got my 2013 MFC membership scarf with me tonight.  Not because I still really carry baggage from that time, but more as a demonstration to any want a be that calls me a band wagon jumper that I was there and nailed my support to the wall when we were truly pittiful.

I just don't want to see any implications of complacency, or not respecting the opposition.

For 4 quarters.

At this stage of the journey, that is more important than a win. In saying that, if we do show respect for our opposition for 4 quarters, and apply ourselves accordingly, then we'll beat anyone.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
