Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Brisbane may look like an 'ordinary' side to some but they have some pretty good players and a decent game plan:  exploit our lack of midfield pace https://www.foxsports.com.au/afl/brisbane-coach-chris-fagan-backs-his-midfield-to-go-headtohead-with-melbournes-hard-nuts/news-story/6fe6ae0d4bbca3c78ec6d975436de177  That is how Pies beat us in rnd 23 last year and to some extent Geelong did last week.

Brisbane have a very decent midfield - they will match our fierceness and have better disposal skills. They will find their outside runners.   Martin is no slouch either altho I expect Max to get the better of him.

And, if Fagan was paying attention to Scott's strategy on Lever last week and to Pyke's strategy on Rance the other night, he will isolate Lever and make him accountable one on one.

I hope Goodwin has also been paying attention and has plans to counteract these two very effective strategies.

And, if we underestimate Brisbane, Fagan, Hodge etal we do so at our peril.

No way their mids have better skills than ours. Their skills are terrible and it's the main reason we'll win easily.

My reference was to their disposal skills (ie abililty to find targets/not turn it over) being better than ours.  To my mind their mdifield (Martin, Beams, Zorko, Taylor, Christiansen) match the fierceness of ours (Gawn, Jones, Oliver, Salem, Tyson).

So a genuine question A F: in what way do you think our skills are better than theirs?

So, St kilda beats Lions last week

St kilda plays one of the worst games I have seen in a long while- they are rubbish

Dees play Lions tonight- lions are worse than st kilda

My predictions

Dee’s by 6+ goals

Mathieson to be awarded 6+ free kicks for head high tackles as he continues to drop his knees in a tackle- although umpires seem to be picking up on this unless it involves Selwood ( a serial expert in this dark art )

Oh, and Jack Watts to play another good game for PA

I’m pretty confident we shook the rust off last week and tonight we’ll look a much better football team. I expect us to connect better and drastically improve our F50 conversion rate.

And I hope we kick the bloody footy more than handball it.

Dee’s by 48 points.

It’s a non-argument.

Their mids are better by foot without question.

To a certain extent it will be these matches - the ones that we should win - that will let us see how good a coach Goodwin is.

Maybe it should be “how good our players are” you can make all the changes you like but ultimately it is up to the 22 who take the field & are ultimately a far more talented list than Brisbane have  at present.

Should win tonight. But it will not be easy.

The Bears will sense a kill and give us a hard run

Over to you Goodwin, stop the dead Quarters please.

think it's time we rated the coach and perhaps the positional coaches in our Joeboy three word thread.

Have not been impressed by Goodwin so far but I am open to my appreciation growing.

A win is a win tonight. The last two  formal games we’ve played have left a really bitter taste in our mouths. We need to get the winning feeling back and build some momentum. This will make footy fun again.

We have to feel 'nasty' tonight, against Brizzy. Give 'em hell for four quarters and make the plays. A tidal wave only grows.

Agree with you, Mr Black Jack-Marlboro-Ferrari! Kicking just has to be with purpose across its volume.

I cannot find it my heart to be critical of them Brendan 50 years of losses  takes a while to get over.

This dead quarter rubbish has been around for the 3 seasons Goodwin has been with us.

We now have serious talent on the list, but the attitude and application on Matchday is paper thin when pressured.

That is the job of the Head Coach to fix

I feel exactly the same way TK

It is really draining watching and supporting this team and it would be nice to start winning and having some fun supporting our team.

I can’t remember the last time it was enjoyable to support this team on a consistent basis.

So it's all about winning for you then, last week's game was a really good game of footy, apart from the last kick I enjoyed and appreciated it

What we needed last week was an extra midfielder with class and know how. However it didn't take long for them to wake up the coach.

Tyson is back and that will be the help that was needed. Feel better now.

Not sure about your sins, but mine have not been that bad to deserve no grand final for 54 years. I promise to go to church if we win one this year. Hell, I might even go twice.

We have the most pessimistic supporters in the AFL.

It really pisses me off how so called supporters are so negative towards our team.

Its rd 2 of the footy season for [censored] sake, have some confidence.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
