Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I thought he certainly did enough to hold his place. We were pox on the weekend. He was one of the least pox.

agree.. did not look out of place and did some good things... certainly not disgraced and hopefully the next few weeks rewards both him and us with some good demonstrations of his skills.

Wish I could be so sure of young Stretch who we all hope makes it as well.

He was very far from our worst, when he got the ball he did some good things. ANB and a few others in front to be dropped IMO.

I'm sorry and I hope I am very wrong but my view is other than the 1st qtr he was running on the spot. Has no pace at all and like most of his mates turned the ball over. Happy to give him another chance as it was his 1st game but he really needs to find some pace somewhere to burst out of tight situations. Many times he seemed to be standing still when opposition just ran past and from him.

Brayshaw isn't very quick, but his lack of pace isn't a bad thing. He needs to slow down going into congestion. It decreases his chance of getting concussed. It is the really short and sharp movements in tight that Brayshaw needs to focus on. He doesn't need to be explosive in a 100m sprint, he just needs to be good in a small space. He is also great on either foot, so if he can improve his spread he should be able to utilize those skills. So long as Brayshaw can avoid getting concussed I think he has a future. We are not talking about a Jack Trengove who has nothing else to offer once he loses his speed, Brayshaw has a lot more tools at his disposal. Should he slow down he can still be very effective.

I've been mostly concerned over the past couple years re. his capacity to gain clean possession off the deck. The weekend wasn't a time to judge but was again his biggest problem. Got to the right spots but fumbled or overran.

Maybe i saw something different. I thought his first quarter was good. To me he always looks like he has time with the ball in his hands.

After quarter time he got the fumbles along with the other 21 players.

Good return. Ahead of Harmes, ANB, Melksham, Vince and Lewis.

Definitely retain for next 5-6 weeks to pickup pace of the game again.

Definite keeper

Brayshaw, with good skills at his disposal, was earlier considered to be very cool under pressure and found a way out of tight corners with good effect. Since returning to the field and this level of competition, this coolness has not reappeared. He has been away for a long time, so hopefully it will return as he settles back into the mix. His pace is not great but it is an avenue for him to do those things in traffic that he used to do. Head injuries are still a prime concern and just maybe, he was tentative for this reason. I'd still reckon that he is one of our best players in terms of determination so let's get behind him as a confidence booster.

This always amuses me dm.

I don't believe it matters a tinkers curse what we supporters think or say on here about him. Probably does not even know we exist.

He will make it on ability or he wont our support does not matter.

What i learn OD is how much there is to the character of posters by what they post and how they post it. For example Brayshaw, some folks say things as though a "son", others are a touch harder. I wasn't going to comment initially, but to me this is a story by itself of how supporters want to will The Club onwards and upwards. There is a lot more to this......

I just find it interesting willmoy that people believe if they mentally will someone on it has an effect. In someway I guess it is like religious faith.

I just don't think it has the slightest effect on how a player performs on the field, if we send him hate mail or yell at him as he comes off the field it may have an effect but people taking to each other!

No effect IMO

If we can get a first round pick for Brayshaw I couldn’t sign the paperwork fast enough

Just don’t rate him

I'd be open to that if Angus wanted to go home West.

If he wanted to do that, I would be open to trade.   Also there is no guarantee on his health, in future seasons.

That was the hawks pressure and our clubs collective panic, setting in.  The Melbourne Yips, is what i'm talking about. (that here we go again thing)

We have to work on 'cutting it', from all our minds.  because what it does is magnify the pressure our players feel out there.

They do indeed sense it. the fear/negativity.

All Demons must learn to NOT Fear.

His home is Victoria. He moved to there with his family at a young age.

He can at least kick left and right well which is an upgrade on many of the team

If you think about it, this is Gus' first clear run of football since his first season in 2015.

The poor kid has had some shocking luck over the last two seasons. Hopefully we give him every chance to cement his position in the team.

He certainly wasn't our worst on Sunday.

Yes, I realise that. he lived around Sandringham I think.

the point remains IF he wants to go West, I'd be Open to that happening.  if we were compensated rightly.

First quarter was great but after his legs got heavy and his kicking went off. I don't know what to make of him. He's not overly quick and I know the team was getting steam rolled but in wet weather as the game goes on the pace should go out of the game and he should come in to it more.

He knows where to go to get the ball and he can do things to win the ball and make decent decisions, but apart from that he looks a long way off.

This is pure speculation but maybe the concussions have impacted his ability to maintain focus and energy for 4 quarters.

I'm struggling to see where he fits in the team and really the only spots that look likely to me are the high half back role that Vince is in where he comes up to the back of a stoppage and can play up the ground and zone from a man. Or as a tagger against the right type of opponent.

i think we used this same system during the Neeld years.

How about we let him string half a dozen games in a row ?

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
