Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Which means what? You seem to be trying to insinuate something off one piece of play.

He seemed to be a little disheartened for the whole game although played okay which is just his ability but in your one piece of play it really showed.

Angus Brayshaw will come into the side soon enough and it won't be after a concussion or an another injury , it will be because he is ready to come in  fresh and.... injury free ! Got a gig late in the season after missing many games because of concussion and off the HBF and held his own. He is a young gun no doubt about that.

Looking forward to seeing him back very soon. Maybe as soon as the NM game.

In my opinion, the concussions have set him back a fair way. It seems as if he’s starting to get back to his best form, though. He is a gun, but still has to prove himself, like everybody else, and earn his spot. He probably looks [censored] off, because he’s running around at Casey this week, when he thinks he’s done enough to warrant selection. Hopefully, it’ll just make him hungrier - I think we’ll see him back for the MFC before long.

Really? What a lot of rubbish.

Granted, he's not likely to play ruck or a key position, but with about 10 years potentially left in his career you don't think he could develop into a rebounding hbf or a high half fwd? I certainly think barring injury he could.

But I'm sure we'd all like him to succeed in the midfield.

Perhaps he had to complete a game post his surgery to be eligible for selection?

there is a lot of guesswork about his non-selection.  Maybe someone should ask the question.  I’m sure brayshaw knows why.

He has shown what he is capable of, and will get back there.  He gets paid as an AFL player even if he sits in the stands and watches.  Who the hell would be despondent with that?

He played of the half back last year and did so successfully. I think he’s a far better prospect in that position than Wagner.

He does jr.

But he needs to 'kick the door in'  prior to.  He hasn't played a game for points, just yet.

I would wait until after the 1st game in the VFL, and see how he goes under some heat first.

After multiple concussions and then wisdom teeth out, having one week out and then a run in the twos makes sense.

Would be good to see him get half a dozen games in the ones, as part of centre rotation, and see what he can do.

He deserves an injury free season, so we can see what he can deliver.

If he was good at it he would be still there. He wasn't good enough at it to keep his position. Brayshaw is an out and out midfielder, and is actually a quite capable one. He does need to make some adjustments - in order to limit his potential for head knocks - but if he can do that (and it looks as though he is making inroads there), then there is a position for him in the midfield. He would be better than Salem (who is unwilling to actually go in and get the footy and prefers to sit stationary off of the pack). Brayshaw shouldn't be disappointed that he is at VFL, but should use it as an opportunity to work on his game because that third midfield spot is up for the taking (Tyson isn't good enough - lacks awareness and is a poor kick), and Salem is unwilling to go in and get the football. Until Viney gets back its there for the taking. I hope Brayshaw steps up because he is capable, he is the guy who would do well in that spot and clearly wants it.

It was a tiring game last night and North have had longer to get over their last game. We will bring in fresh legs and probably Brayshaw will get his chance again and be among the ins.

A real positive for us is that we now have depth and can bring in fresh players without destroying the basic makeup of the team.

If he did get a run (not sure he will) I'm wondering whether Goodwin would consider assigning him an out an out run with role?

If you're short of a run and a little down on confidence it's not the worst thing to have to do...imo

I think Gus is a see ball get ball player and not a tagger, not that he couldn't do the job if asked.

You may well be right Redleg. I worry for Gus. I'm not entirely sure why but I connect his concussion situation with Jack Trengove's injury issues. They're not the same, I know, but it niggles away, perhaps irrationally so.

He is out of contract this year so if the club rates him they need to either give him games consistently or sign him up on a new contract.  Otherwise, there will be a few suitors out there talking to his manager.

We have re-contracted all the players who can be considered his peers so he is the only one still on the shelf.

I really rate him, he is much more than depth and would hate for him to look elsewhere.

Didn't take long for other clubs to come sniffing -

"Angus Brayshaw’s non-selection for the first three rounds of the season has also led to seven rival clubs showing various levels of interest in the out-of-contract ball-winner, whose brothers — Hamish and Andrew — live in Perth and play for West Coast and Fremantle respectively....The Dockers are believed to be one of these clubs keeping a close eye on the concussion-plagued Brayshaw.

The writer does add that "... there is no suggestion Brayshaw wants out but...the lure of consistent opportunities could prove to be a decisive factor in weighing up his future".

It was good to see Gus play a really good first up game yesterday.  Let's hope the coaches keep playing him to give him some consistency, which he hasn't had for several years for a variety of reasons.

Note - I have ignored the speculation about Hogan in that article.  It is a repeat of the same stuff year after year and Freo will continue to ask.

I thought he was average at best. He started the game really well then faded out badly and was slow and poor with his disposal as he often is. If he doesn't show some drastic improvement this season, I would be more than happy to hear what other clubs would be willing to part with.

It is quite damning that with Tyson and Viney out that he still couldn't find his way into our midfield rotation. If he is not an inside midfielder, what is he?

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
