Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

I'm telling myself that last week he was lethargic from the teeth being taken out and this week they wanted to give him a game at Casey instead of the travelling emergency. At least that will help me sleep at night.

I would guess they are taking it slowly with him - teeth, concussion last year. It is easy to underestimate how long it can get over having your wisdom teeth out. Think it’s good player management

I like the changes.  I'm on the record as being a fan of Bugg and I think he brings something unique to our side, especially the forward line.  Kicking aside, he's a good mark, knows how to kick a goal and is a good pressure forward.  Hannan really didn't do much at all last week so it's not a surprising change.

Tyson for Maynard is a no brainer.  Maynard will get another shot, he just might have to wait a little bit.

Brayshaw has to injured as Goodwin said he was unlucky to miss last week.

Can you believe what coaches and FD say about why a player gets or does not get a game? Last week Tyson did not get a game because he had an interrupted pre season and had not had enough game time. Then one week later he is in the side without playing one minute in between. How does that work?

They tell us what seems to work at the time. Forget logic that seldom gets a run.

I think it’s a shame Bugg for Hannan as I’m a big fan of Mitch. That said, I think Mitch is too similar to Fritsch and It’s a good idea to try a new dynamic with a pressure forward + one of the two (and I think Fritsch earned his spot). So overall good changes.

Hopefully Tom has worked hard on his goal kicking over the summer, because I don’t want to see him dish one off as he runs inside 50 instead of taking a shot.

Either way he won't kick goals, he is atrocious in front of goal even he knows it that is why he dishes off so many.

I actually think they wanted to try Maynard as a run with player and Tyson, who had a missed a little time, was the one to be left out.  It didn't go as well as they would have liked and now Tyson is back in the side.

Outside of that I have no idea, OD.  I'm not in the inner sanctum.

The stated reason for not playing him was as I said. Either the reason for leaving him was BS or the reason for him being in this week is they can't have it both ways.

But there is bugger all we can do about it I will put it down as a mistake last week that they are trying to rectify this week.

There has to be more to the brayshaw thing. He isn't even an emergencyou.  Looked locked and loaded in the JLT..now in the wilderness

It's just a guess, but perhaps he's playing in the Casey match tomorrow.

If so, you wouldn't name him an emergency.

Agree.  I've had the teeth out and there's an element of shock in the procedure.  He needs a couple of weeks minmum. He'll be there when the whips are cracking for sure. Just not yet.

El oh el at Tyson's selection. Where's @stevethemanjordan? ;)

Bugg's not a sniper. He's a pest. There's a massive difference.

A pest is a muppet in a Melbourne jumper. A sniper is a pest in a non-Melbourne jumper.

Even though I fully expected Brayshaw to get a gig this week, I'm pleased enough with the changes. Tyson a no brainer - should have played last week. Like the inclusion of Bugg. I like Hannan, but just didn't do enough to hold his place in the side for mine.

Seems silly to say but a definite danger game. After coming so close last week and really choking at the end it's important we get the W against our names this week to kick our season off. I want the team coming in ruthless as if we are playing last years premiers.

The Lions will be improved this year for sure and they almost caught us (stupidly) last year. In fact their fight back (and our lapse in concentration) cost us the finals as much as the loss to the Pies.

I would love us to blow them out early with a first quarter blitz and never look back but I'm still a scarred Melbourne fan so it wouldn't surprise me if the opposite happened and we had to play catch up.

Changes make sense. Tyson replacing Maynard is no surprise. One of the non-pressuring forwards had to go and it was Hannan. We don't need him and Fritsch in the same side and Hannan didn't do enough last week to warrant keeping his spot.

What Bugg did last year was a dog act. But he's done his time for it. I actually think this is a good opportunity to get him in. I'm not sure if the wider AFL community cares any more but, in case they do, we'll be totally off Broadway with this game, no one will be watching/listening other than Melbourne and Brisbane fans. Take any pressure off and get him back into the side. Let's hope he's learnt his lesson and he's worked hard. His pressure last year was important and he is a strong two-way runner, which we sorely lacked last week.

Bugg will be itching to play his first game after the Swans debacle.

He is in the top 2 or three for endurance and can tackle.

He is a great in.

Agreed, I think redemption will be a big thing for him this year. I can't remember who it was but they suggested at the time what Bugg did could end his career. I thought it was a completely ridiculous comment (and typical sensationalism).

Bugg has poor disposal and poor kicking for goal (really hope he's worked hard on that over the summer) but he gets involved.

I'm happy with both changes though would like to see Brayshaw out there.

Just not a great kick of the football. Let's hope he kicks it properly on Saturday.

He had a calf strain pre-season, he had to prove his fitness off that.

It was mentioned that he wasn't ready.  one extra week for the calf, to be sure, to be sure..

Calf injury can take time to heal. If he redid it, he could be out for a while. We don't want that with Viney out for another 6+ weeks.

I'm wondering IF with the issues Brayshaw had, they may want to have him in tip-top match form, before he gets another senior game.

Also he has to prove he's ready,,, again.

Teeth or no teeth, he has to keep the head out of the way, and stay on his feet as it were. If not its bit of a worry.

quite happy to have bugg in

one thing i did think was strange on the weekend was the way melksham played far further up the ground than he appeared to in the jlt, and certainly higher than he was in the second half of last year, when he was so effective

he definitely let his opponent get goalside of him way more than he has, and he was really struggling to chase by midway thru the third

given that it's going to be quite warm, i reckon he might need to play closer to goal - hogan has the aerobic capacity to get up and down the ground pretty well, whereas i think melksham is best served stopping their rebounder and making the most of the opportunities that present themselves

if we don't stop their rebound off half back like we didn't against geelong in the first half, brisbane could just as easily cut us to shreds - any team will if we're not on our defensive gameset, as we are SO SLOW to limit the switch

jetta - o mac

lewis - hibberd - lever - wagner - vince

gawn - oliver - petracca - salem - jones - hunt

fritsch - hogan - bugg

melksham - garlett

bench: harmes - tyson - pedersen - anb

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
