Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

yep he shouldnt have said a thing but the bloke tripped over his own feet.

the ump gave to 50m when Lewis just said "he tripped over his own feet"

its s*$t but leaders should just shut their mouths.

Lewis is in the team for leadership. He said more that that to the umpre, I suspect it was more in the line of the ump going and getting photographed. It cost us a goal and we lost by 3 points. Lewis looke right off the play today it was not his best game.

You reckon shills aren’t important?

Wattsy would’ve been handy wouldn’t he?

I just don’t know what Goodys doing with this team.

Leaves out high possession winners in Tyson and Brayshaw and includes plodders in Maynard and Wagner .

Lever looked like a skinny 12 year old.

We would’ve lost that by ten goals had Danger played

Watts wouldn't have missed a set shot for the winner today if he had had the chance.  What price for accuracy in today's game!??

Salem was not good at any point but willing to give him a pass for that hit. Would want to do more and show some desperation next week.

He provided the balance around the stoppages in the first quarter and a bit that others didn't. We needed that sweeper when others would dive after the ball. I'm surprised he stayed on after that hit.

In fact it's laughable that we have a blood rule when the chances of getting a blood borne disease on a footy field is almost zero, yet when a player gets poleaxed if he stays on he gets to take his kick and keep playing.

Salem stayed in the centre square for the next stoppage after that hit and he was miles off the play. A smart team would've dragged him as soon as possible to get his assessed and out of the game until he was cleared.

Can't question the effort. Can question the terrible decision making. Constant bombing forward to outnumbered contests. Defenders all flying for the same ball and none staying down.

We bullied Geelong in every way today and still managed to lose. Embarrassing to lose that one. We are a far better team than them now and we need to start playing like it.

Great point Lord and nothing's changed in that regard.... so much so that there's also nobody front and square for the crumb!  Garlett also flying!!??  ....go figure!  Very basic stuff that other teams seem to do with ease.

Top post.

Agree with all. Those who question the Tyson decision are some of the the same ones who questioned the Melksham trade.

Long bow there 'steve'...

..but I do question the Tyson decision and also the reasoning behind it. Maynard hasn't shown enough at senior level to justify his selection, disposal very iffy and runs to wrong positions.

Sunday I guess will be the judge.

I'm not knocking Maynard but am critical of the selection.

I think he needs more time to round out his game at Casey.

2 The Cancelled camp tells me and plenty  AND those in the footy world that we are SOFT

3 None selections of Frost, Tyson and Gus baffling

4 Goodwin has no idea how to counter run and spread

5 We still make unforced skill errors

6 I don't blame Max at all as wehade numerous chances to win it BUT having said that a senior player from 20 out should have nailed it! Watts Would have!

7 We still have a hell of a lot to learn.

8 TYPICAL BLOODY MELBOURNE FC

Watts wouldn't have taken the mark.

We played Geelong's weakened best 19 fit players and were found short.

Optimists around here need to take note about how we play under pressure.

I will stick with my 13 to 15 win season and we limp in around 6th to 8th to play finals. Making up the numbers.

I will be happy to go to games like today and win a few and lose a few.

Don't expect better sides to let us off so lightly.

Our backline is full of holes that will not be plugged and we have to play some aging players who are simply better than their immediate substitutes.

I coach with 1 year under his belt and a my way or the highway style is not ready to take us any further for a few years yet.

Well those weakened players just didn’t miss targets in the first half. We hit a team on song and almost snatched it.

Yes 1 year in and I think Goodwin is still learning. One straight kick and we would be back slapping late into the night.

Agreed. Sure he’ll get suspended but that’s how you make a stand, not giving away a 50 for mouthing off like an idiot.

Our leadership continues to be a problem. Jones was good, but FMD our senior players have no idea. Jetta was good as always and I don’t know why he isn’t in the leadership team. More of a leader than Lewis!

I thought Jetta was beaten on the day Jaded.  That hand ball in the last quarter just shy of the square also cost us momentum and a goal (i think).

But the Cats were up for it, it was Selwood's 250th and Ablett's return game after all.

Good God, when are we ever going to stop reading this as an excuse after a loss.

IT WAS THE FIRST GAME OF THE SEASON. EVERY TEAM SHOULD BE UP.

Great signs that we came back after being 5 goals down however. That was certainly a positive.

It doesn't even matter whether they're angry or not anyway. Anger isn't the only motivator and in my opinion it's a poor one. It just seems to be the only one some people understand, but I've never seen anyone do their best work while angry.

Posters question Goodwin, who just coached a side with a game-plan that yielded 23 more inside 50s than the opposition, which nearly always results in a win.

Never change, Demonland.

I question some of his judgement calls but that goes with the territory, he's still an immature coach.

The problem with those 23 more inside 50's was the positioning of forwards and the bombing of the ball.

The game plan fell well short when we moved forward, we need to provide and look for targets.

Some times we need to finesse the ball movement a bit more and not just go full tilt.

The Cats where waiting for it and it's what we gave them.

It became easy for them to repel our forward thrusts...

What was that I said - over and over - about getting smarter going forward?

We are clearly off in this area TT and have been for a mighty long time.  We will not make finals unless this is fixed and we start lowering our eyes and hitting more targets both just outside the arc and inside obviously.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
