Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Lol... fair enough. Happy to eat a little crow but not the whole bird. Yet. def saw some really good signs, especially in the first half. To be clear . I’d love him to be the gun so many think he will be...but Sunday’s game didn’t quite have me fully changing camps. Yet.

In fairness, I don’t believe any of Frost’s supporters ever said he’d be a “gun”, we just couldn’t understand why so many continually bagged him and stated he wasn’t even AFL standard.  Unbelievably early call for someone with so many attributes.

Some find the faults ahead of others.   Some always look for the negatives, first.

Most tho' when finding negatives, give up on players.  This is the saddest part of it.  The writing off, hastily.

Does he remind anyone else of Kurt Tippett in the way he moves and and takes the ball at the highest point?

Expecting floods of  'no hes nothing like Tippett'.   ?

Yes agree, i was trying to think who he reminded me of. Going back a fair way, as i do, i just hope he gets the luck to write his own history.

His family would be very proud and happy for him, and so will the MFC.............

The spring in his step and leap plus his aerial marking ability reminds me of Jarrad Waite, fingers crossed he turns into a similar talented player

He is stalling.

Disagree

Oscar has shown MUCH better kicking ability than big brother did in his first several years in defence, to the point where he can be relied on most times to find a target, and gets to plenty of contests. For his age and size, he is progressing very nicely.

Just needs a heap more strength, and we will have a first class tall defender.

My problem is I don't think the faith in Oscar is being repaid. If we are putting together a backline from a healthy list, I don't know if either is in it.

I am not an OMac fan but he was OK on the weekend. His shortcomings are different to Frost and in a way polar opposite. He is slow, particularly reaction time but also turning circle. He has little physical presence - although his Darling tackle was a ripper - and is often fumbly. He was lucky not to have given away a free at a critical time to Venebles I think when he fumbled the mark and then tried to duck the tackle in the 4th. Could have been so much worse. Oscar's disposal is pretty good

Frost on the other hand is very quick, physical, can take a solid mark and makes life difficult for good forwards as he is difficult to play on. Disposal and decision making are his two biggest weaknesses and the club has been trying to limit these telling him in effect to give the ball off straight away by hand where possible.

A combination of the two would be perfect and the question is when Lever returns who gets the gig alongside him. there isn't room for all three IMO. It might be match ups that determine it. Against the Swans Frost did well on Buddy and OMac was pretty reasonable on McCartin.

Kicking is fine.  Has sticky hands too.  His agility and speed are way off.  And his ball to hand and ball to foot speed are terrifyingly slow.

It's the physical deficiencies that limit him severely.  A fast leading player that changes direction will beat him every time.

How good was he today.,..  wowee oh oh boy!   The stats look good but what about the attack on the ball , urgency and aerial work and most surprisingly, the athleticism.

If we trade this kid to the Pies for that spud Darcy Moore as was rumoured a month ago, I will spew.

I reckon today he well & truly earned his place. They both did.

The thing is, Lever can be so damaging with his ability to create instant turnovers.

Was bloody good today

That was a reference to Oscar.

Weideman is tracking normally - his ruckwork is a point of difference that he can build a career out of it if he can stay relevant as a forward like today.

He’s still got a long way to go in his development but he’s playing with great confidence, he’s attacking ball with desperation and that set shot today shows he’s got good kicking in him.

I think a lot of it is between the ears with Sam but the last two weeks have been brilliant.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
