Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Goodwin says Viney & TMac out for 6-8 Weeks

Viney's been out for a mighty long time now.  Looking more and more like another Trengove issue.  Viney's facia was mis-managed IMO coming out and training / playing again way too early from many reports.  Yet another nail in Misson's coffin.  Not sure how he is still there.

Trengove was out for 2 years..... a long way off that at the moment.

I'm Now LIVID that the early return of last year has now jeopardised not only his season but also the club in general.

Whoever endorsed this last year took too much of a risk with now serious consequences.

Not that T Macs news is that much better.

Time for Pedo or Weeds to step up!

I seem to recall reading somewhere that like TMac, Viney's issue is with his toe - that is, unrelated to his original foot issue.  So for those going on about his facia issue being mis-managed, you may be off the mark.  This appears to possibly be an unfortunate coincidence.

Not looking good though Dom.  No pre-season means a very average year at best IF he gets back with enough time to impact. A massive blow on our prospects.  The decision to bring him back now looks like a disaster.  Misson is the last of the Neeld appointments (correct me if wrong).  Time to look elsewhere me thinks.

I suspect the damage was dome whilst playing with the plantar injury, while he was favoring that injury, loaded up other areas of the foot. Until he could no longer go on and had the snip.

Coming back too soon following surgery compounded what was already done to the foot.  Far too brave to point of S^%&%^_

I hope he gets out of this period, without any long-term damage.

Its not Misson's fault, he does what he's told or asked to do.  Its the player who wants to continue. Sometimes trying to stop them is almost impossible.

Young Viney will have learned by now.

The club right now.. the young list are witnessing and learning to be smarter. An important step for the club.

What the hell is it with the Mfc and foot injuries!!!

ffs I’m over it.

See u next season boys.

Wasn't Clarke also impacted from similar at one stage that kept him off the park for a while?  Obviously had many other issues but seem to recall this was also part of the mix.

Viney is not innocent in this. You can call Misson a liar, which I do frequently, but the patient has equal culpability in this. The Docs can only listen to what their patients are telling them. Viney was too eager to get back and told his own lies to convince the medicos that he was right. He is now paying for this. Let's hope he gets back. It's not ideal, but unlike many other seasons, there are players waiting for a spot in the team who are capable.

Colin Garland missed all but one game of 2009 with a foot injury after numerous setbacks, and came back to have one of his best seasons in 2010. We've seen that foot injuries are notoriously hard to manage because of the amount of force the foot is required to bear, everything can seem fine until it comes time to put heavy load on. I don't think the club has been lying, rather that there was no certainty around it.

This is clearly disappointing news, but I'm still prepared to reserve my outrage or panic for the time being.

2 very important players missing. Not a good start. believing what footy clubs tell their supporters is akin to believing politicians.

That may in part be true, but football injuries are a bit of a movable feast, they seem to get better then complications arise, the club may be telling the truth and all of a sudden the situation changes.

We don't know what happened and probably never will but I don't think the club would be stupid enough to let players endanger their future by playing them when they were injured.

Who do we blame for Tom?

Seriously though, without being called on MFCSS or whatever, this club can't take a trick. Every year we have good players go down, often before the season starts and for extended periods.

As someone said on another thread, last year we lost 168 games of player availability due to injury and 70 to our best 6. How the hell do you win games with those injuries and especially to your key players.

No wonder the Tigers with not an injury and a soft draw, did so well in an even competition.

It is also why I regard pre season reports as useless as we are always training the house down and come the first game the injuries are there.

End of rant, Go Dees. Luckily our depth is far deeper.

All player loads and recovery loads are tightly controlled by the fitness / recovery team now DV.  The Players stepping outside and doing their own recovery regime etc is old school thinking.  Buck stops with Misson in terms of when/how much/how little/methods etc.  Coaching staff are very much in the hands of the Elite performance manager's view (and club doctor) on all such matters once a significant injury and/or health issue is diagnosed.

I assume he did that with a full pre-season (or close to it) though Nasher.  Players rarely have a substantial impact if they miss a decent part or all of a pre-season, and certainly less so if they are starting as late as Jack 'might' IF he gets back when we are being told Is likely.

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim
