Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Viney’s foot is worse than we think

Club update on both Viney and T Mac was not encouraging

At least they've provided an update... I'm happier knowing Viney's issue is with his big toe rather than an innocuous bone in the middle of the foot.

Right, so you ‘know’ and don’t choose to share, yet continue to post “he’s on track” 90,000 times, as a means to shut posters up who are continuing to question the nature of the injury.

Makes complete sense.

In all seriousness, I think they have just been overly cautious with it after what happened at the end of last season.  We can manage without him for a few weeks.

Hope you are right.

Bloody bad luck though.

Tom McDonald (toe) definitely won't play against the Cats on Sunday & will spend another 10 days "off legs". Jack Viney (toe) has again been delayed. No VFL this week and unlikely next week. AFL Round 4 now sounds optimistic. Otherwise healthy list, but they're 2 important parts

“Jack had started training with the group. As he was transitioning into boots, his big toe got a little bit sore and we’re very conscious that he’s had some soreness around that foot. Originally, he had the plantar fascia [injury] last year and then he had some bone soreness on his third toe. Now it’s his big toe, which isn’t significant, but again, it warrants us unloading him for a week to 10 days and then reloading him again.

The fact that Jack hasn’t done a lot of training with the group may mean that the reloading period needs to be a little bit longer. But again, we haven’t put a timeframe yet and we want Jack’s foot to feel good. We want him to feel good training in boots, before he plays a game.”

Summary: unload for a week or two, then reload for a week or two (or longer), then feel good training in boots before playing again (probably via VFL).

Sounds like its at least 3-4 weeks before a game (anywhere).  Sadly, can't see him playing vs Richmond ANZAC Eve.

Its good the club has stopped putting a time frame on his return to play - it just dashes expectations when it doesn't happen.

Yep, but more important for the end of season, rather than early doors.

Keep them till they are cherries, ripe for the pickin'.

I want them firing on all 4's, ah, 2's, by the middle of the season when the going starts to get tougher.

We'll be needing all our experienced players firing, from July on-wards.

Now is the time to get responsibilities shared out. Our 23 Yr olds need to stand up & be counted, hands up for the job.

No, you don't.  You think you do, but you don't.

Also, @Grapeviney's post was quite funny.  Why you can't see the humour in it is anybodies guess.

Edit - also, the Tom McDonald injury is further proof that you have no idea what you're talking about.  You've waffled on all summer that if they get any sort of niggle, they go into the rehab group.  T Mac had a problem with his toe prior to the JLT, he didn't go into rehab and made it worse.  Why wasn't he put in rehab like everyone else if he had a niggle?

I would say we won't see him in AFL for a month. after a couple of gamnes in the VFL for recapturing fitness.

He's had an interrupted Pre season, as has TMc.   So they will be both low on fitness.

Again we should not have to rely on these 2, in the very early part of this season; we have a number of quality players to handle the job at hand.

But we will have to rely on them in the back half of the season.  That is when I want those two firing on all cylinders. fresh & hungry.

Time for the young gunners to stand and be counted, to actually do something.

As well as Jones, Lew, Vinnie, the Jet and Hibbo, can help steer the ship.

Whats the point of his training reports if he is posting false information on here?

Claims he knows the extent of the Viney injury but is keeping it a secret...  yet he posts on here multiple times that Vineys right on track.

Credibility shot to pieces.   His reports are worthless.  'Fake news', you could say.

I agree we have a number of quality mids to cover Viney, not as high quality as Viney, but we should be able to cover for him.

Im more worried if TMac is out long term. As far as I can see the only other player who had played the role of 2nd forward/Ruck well at AFL level on our list is Pedo. It’s a lot of pressure on him and we really desperately need no injuries to him and Hoges. I know smaller forwardlines are in vogue post Richmond 2017 but I’d worry about the pressure on Hoges and Max if TMac and Pedo were gone at the same time.

He was "on track" until he started wearing boots and training with the main group. (as per club statement)

Yeah but Saty claims he had some inside info about the seriousness of the injury that he was holding back.

Thanks for laying it out. The club aren't always completely transparent - why should they be if it doesn't help fans and hurts them - but in this case Misson has detailed the plan.

I hope they can do more in terms of designing better boots or orthotics to overcome the problem as well as the rest and rehab plan.

I think the only time line the club ever put on Viney was a round 1 return being possible if things go to plan. Which they then cancelled a couple of weeks ago and didn't put a set time from on after that.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
