Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

It is getting tiresome to read from non medical people, who didn't examine his injury, that he came back too soon, especially when we hear from him and club medical staff that the current problems are not the ones that he allegedly came back too soon from.

Fair enough Redders, however as pointed out by others, the current problem may not be the same injury but it would be hard to argue that its not related to the earlier injury.  As we know, a injury may often arise due to problems with other parts of the anatomy. Hamstring, calf soreness, achilles- pain or injury referred from back etc etc

Fair enough that it MAY be related to the earlier injury, but of course it may not, but it is certainly not hard to argue that it's not related to the earlier injury as we don't know exactly what the earlier injury and the current injuries are.

Correct me if I'm wrong Red but wasn't his injury last year originally reported as 3 or 4 weeks and he only missed 1 or 2?

Maybe he doesn't even know if new problems keep surfacing. Then again if it is bad, he and the club may not want fans to know.

I think so but who is to say the 3 or 4 weeks was correct. Maybe it was best guess and then he improved quickly to be fit enough to play.

The point I am making is that we don't know as we are not Doctors and don't examine the injuries.

Also it is not an exact science. Oh you have a finger injury that will be 17 days out of footy. It is best guess made on experience and examination.

We do.

The first injury was plantar fasciitis and the second injury stemmed from the first.  The second injury was a stress fracture in his third metatarsal.

I agree that we're not privy to any recent sore spots.

No but I think we may have a fair idea.

And by right on track he meant right on track for Round 1.

Conclusion - the players give Saty nothing, as we always knew. Case closed.

Well, it started out as "soreness" then became plantar fasciitis then stressies and at last report was a combination of both plantar fasciitis and stressies - all with wavering levels of seriousness.

That is the sort of hamfisted story line which says his foot is stuffed.

Agree with all points.

In regard to last para, you are probably right as no-one really knows, so opinion only.

Its a reflection of supporters concern.  A view that takes into account the mistake last season when he played prematurely, together with the 6 months recovery over summer, and continuing doubts about the timing of his comeback.  And the importance to the team in ensuring that he is cherry ripe when he returns.

I agree with this, and with my albeit limited exposure to medical personnel in the afl - in addressing things that even THEY don't know a prognosis for, the only thing they choose to do is wait. So in essence, the medical team, advised by JV's pain experience will proactively be waiting... until inflammation subsides...as they too don't know (not through ignorance, nor malpractice, simply because JV is a sample size of one that every treatment and recover is unique to the individual).

I've broken the Cuneiform bone before. Was late 20's and it still gives me slight grief every day, 20+ years later.

Was also diagnosed with Plantar Fasciitis several months back after a strain at work. Painful little bastard. Definitely makes you walk differently, so as not to feel the stinging pain that goes with it.

I can see why those injuries lead to others.

I’m confused as to why this thread was started. Does someone have solid information?

When I was at training on Monday morning, I noticed a medico/doctor inspecting Viney’s foot closely whilst he was sitting on the ground. As soon as that concluded, he took no further part in the rehab group training and headed back to the AAMI park complex. Before the foot inspection, he was doing light work in the rehab group.

That was the only concerning thing I witnessed. I wouldn’t jump the gun just yet in fearing the worst, although I’m aware of how unclear the club when it comes to updating it’s supporter base re: injuries.

Its difficult to have solid information when  clubs keep the information secret & send misinformation around.

so we can only speculate.

The plan was always Rd 1, why wouldn't it be, didn't work out that way

Nice to see the flat track bullies coming out of hiding to join in with your 'humour'

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
