Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Every theme song will be re-done by AFL

I can barely tell the difference, but that's not the point. My issue is why the AFL think they have some sort of ownership over our song. It would be like them tweaking our logo.

Think you might find the AFL was asked by the clubs to tweak the songs - trying to improve the sound quality at SOME of the many grounds we will play AFL footy at in 2018. No big deal clubs can do what they want - stick with the old poor sound quality if they elect to or upgrade the sound quality for the fans.

Only thing I think they should do is reintroduce our second chorus. “Oh the team played fine in the year 39.” Every merchandise I had always had it in printed lyrics, but they never played it. I haven’t heard it for years.

Nice sentiment, but far too long ago to reminisce about the team playing fine.

Absolutely not. If we want to get rid of everything American, then we’d get rid of fixed ladders and do promotion and relegation. Do away with grand finals and have the team that finished on top declared premiers. Not everything American is evil.

Best of seven finals?

Blaring "music" after every goal?

Switch offence and defence line ups (or rosters) after each 10 second play time, for a 2 minute ad break?

No thanks

Again, would you rather European promotion and relegation? Seeing Dees play in a 2nd grade comp? The minor premiers declared the winners? No thanks

I'm just relieved they didn't add our second verse like they did for Geelong and Port... they are pretty terrible...

Disagree AW.  I was thinking as I was working my way through the thread that the only way they could improve the original version would be to add the second verse.  In the late 1950s and 60s, the players, and the supporters who crammed into the rooms after each victory (which was most weeks) would belt out both verses without missing a beat.  Maybe memorising two verses would be too much for today's society.

Cass some people just want to critize, complain, moan irrespective of what system was chosen. Just part of life - your positive attitude is refreshing. All the best for season 2018

Doesn’t sound overly promising.

I wish clubs had been informed that sound quality can be greatly enhanced with a remastering of the original sound source and not a deadly dull re recording which is what we have been given.

The club better get this right

Geez I’m sure I pointed that out a few days ago -  maybe the club does read Demonland

I never get involved with politics just does not worry me. If they like football, like red&blue, like singing our theme tune - Who Im I to judge - they sound alright to me.

The old theme song sounded nice and warm and organic, like listening to a Beatles or Pink Floyd record, or any old record for that matter.

The new one is too digital, clean and lacking character.  Like listening to Katy Perry or any modern radio bubblegum pop.

Would love Gilmour to do a version...

...gotta be better than the Barry Crocker version we've had for the last 40 years.

Yeah I get what you say - I have mixed feelings. The song at the end of the game is important to some fans, sadly some grounds don’t have the best PA systems. So no good spending money to fix the PA if the recording is sub-standard and part of the problem.

I really don’t mind either way - I’m happy to go with the majority, but I’m mindful of our fans all around Australia that go see games in stadiums apart from the biggies.

I can accept the outcome either way.

Nah we have supporters in every state around Australia - I’m mindful that sometimes they have the rights to hear the song.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
