Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Aside from making it faster, higher and generally weaker they've ruined my favourite part of the song.

Excuse my lack of musical knowledge but about a minute in to the song during the instrumental section there's a really nice fluttering trumpets that matches up to 'we sing this song to you flutter flutter flutter'

In the new version is just tapers off. It's we sing this song to you bleh bleh bleh

It's lacking the character and sparkle of the original. Yuck

I've been in touch with Fenriz from Darkthrone, it's in the works.

Only in Nocturno sings like he did on Blaze!

Personally would prefer Pest or Varg to do the singing. If Varg did it we could use a pic of one of the burnings he did as the song played.

See, basically exactly the same as the older version.

Sure, not a major change, but WTF does Gil have to change it at all.

He is a bloody control freak who just makes changes to boost his own ego.

Get stuffed Gil and leave us alone.

Probably thinks he can ‘take credit’ for improving ‘the brand’, and cover his own failings

I will be interested to hear Titus O’Reilly’s take.

Bring in Abbath as the new match day mascot as well. The kids would be all over the crab walk.

Not as big a change as I feared it may be.

The trumpet/bugle is noticeable different.

Doubt this was a hands on decision from Gil.

The problem is the AFL has a huge excess of staff who have to justify their jobs. Someone went to Gil and said they could digitally remaster the songs and make them better, that sounds smart, but it's not what they've done.

Gil's problem is he trusts his massive inflated staff when he needs to confront a bunch of them and remove them and use the extra money and resources elsewhere.

Why must things that are not broken be fixed my the modern day's sense of superiority?

The AFL should leave well enough alone, lest the fans turn on them en masse, and resent their intervention.

It's funny how so many want to keep the old original versions, tradition lol...well I think we were singing the song before the Ron Tudor recorded versions in the 70's.

To my thinking those Fable versions have always been lame and they're hardly part of heritage, particularly ours.

We haven't won a premiership since they've been around.

I don't care about other clubs but it's time for a proper rehash of the Grand Old Flag...one with some balls.

I sit in on a guitar group that play in the local bar in the village I live in. Have done so for years. After a lot of red wine and talking I got them to do a Spanish guitar version of Grand Old Flag. I get it played when we win, usually very late at night when we have all had enough.

Had a few lost Aussies that had wandered into the bar and not believed what they were hearing.

Bloody atrocious! A national anthem is our song - as it is! I want my grandkids to take their children to the  'G, to sit in the Sthn Stand and to listen to the victory song of the Dees being belted out as a representation of the historical recurrence of such an outcome. A new song, yeah, yeah, just won't do that, baby, baby. We should not allow Gill to dictate to us in this matter; should he go ahead, we should then be ready to substitute the historical song for the existing song on every occasion. It is our choice as members, supporters and sectional interests of the general public. The diction is too good to miss, as well. Men of Harlech stand together .... imagine.

You're spot on, the Dill needs to have his eye lids pinned open and be placed in front of a massive screen playing Zulu on loop until he UNDERSTANDS!!!

Amazing what they have been doing to the local umpires, the ones they tell us there wouldn't be a game without and have umpires appreciation days or whatever...

This AFL are a greedy bunch and they're making off with our money.

...but don't get me started.

Wrong.  It is his over inflated ego he trusts

You are right rjay.

I would like our own MFC version rather than an AFL sanctioned one. I don't particularly like the bulldogs version (perhaps too much change) but it is their own.

For those old enough to remember perhaps we need the MFC equivalent of the "National Anthem Debate".

Now for the next line... our anthem is based upon a jingoistic US song... Dare we dream

lol @ the Bulldogs version.  Their fans are going to be furious.

All of them suck though.  No bass, no balls,  unorganic.  Sad times.

Great job Gil and the AFL.  You [censored] morons.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
