Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I've watched all our games and I don't have any criticism for female umps.... but my God... male umps are atrocious!!!! Two goals from dubious free kicks in front of goal seals the deal! Free kick count was 11 to 3 in the first half, after that I knew who would win.  I congratulate the Demon women for being able to score a couple into the wind. If we had received one dubious free in the forward 50 we would have won and we would be playing in the GF. It must be difficult for the players to accept

It’s hurtful. I made the wrong decision to go home alone to watch this. Just want someone to give me a cuddle to feel better. Will take a while to get over this ?

At what point do we as a club actually come out and stand for something because right now we stand for nothing.

From a administrative level, we allow the AFL to [censored] us up the arse in every way imaginable.

From a coaching level we continually make the same stupid mistakes time and time again.

From a player level we continually loose games we should win against lowly opposition.

And it applies equally to the men’s, women’s and VFL aspects of the club. For Christ sake, stop being such limp dicked pushovers arggghhhhhh

EDIT: rant over, off to play Fortnite

Talk about an over reaction

The good news is that it will soon be replaced by something horrific in the men's regular season.

Heartbreaking. I called it a few weeks back but I always hoped we could steal it.

The weaknesses we've had all season were the reason we lost tonight. Can't fault our effort though. No one can say we didn't put up a fight.

One day they'll stop using the AFLW to 'develop' umpires but for now, it's just part of the evolution of the competition. Still hurts though and makes a mockery of the players' efforts.

Thanks everyone, by the way, for the discussion here this season. It's nice to have a place to talk constructively (mostly!) about AFLW with other Demons.

Mick Stinear time to go. Game plan stinks, big time. Nobody ever runs in support past  a pack to receive a releasing handball, it's  just handball round in circles circa Neeld era. Daisy and O'Dea make Brock McLean look like Usain Bolt. What a wasted season.

Never seen you post before, as I rarely post in any of our forums but have to say SPOT ON! And not to further rubbish Stinear, but when at 3/4 time I heard a 'Neeld' spoke line to our players relayed from the channel seven commentators, I knew our fate.

Paxman is great but doesn't ever use her team mates, is used to dominating without them and will quickly find as more athletes come in that she can't. Pearce and O'Dea aren't quick sure, but not exactly slow.

They are a fit side and play to use the fitness and run but they aren't a quick side. Rocky and Newman are the only two who can run with the ball. Cat Phillips got injured and isn't really a footballer anyway, Emma Humphries became scared to crack in, Lampard was always injured - played 5 minutes tonight and could've been the difference if she played all game.

And the forward line is all even contributors and we don't have a clutch goal kicker. Cunningham is a mismatch who can beat the bad teams but is too inexperienced against proper key defenders. Hore and Newman are new to the game.

I think he does well with what he has. Has found more than a few good players and put them in a position to excel. Smart moves like Rocky in the ruck as back up, BJ CHB, young Kat Smith on to the ball in the last few games, Cordner from outside the best 22 to a future star key defender.

His biggest error tonight was to not have one of the star mids starting the game at FF. But I get that he wanted to win in the midfield first and backed Cunningham to do her job and she just got beat by a better player every time tonight.

With the talent Mick Steiner has had the last two years (which will be decimated next year with 2 new teams, especially with Geelong), if he fails to make a final he has well and truly blown it. I've said this before in our game threads, as a fan of womens footy I'm flabbergasted with the way he has abused a dominant midfield with the awful forward line setup he has adopted. #1styearplayerisourgotoption #Notherfault

I don't like the game setup at all.

I prefer Daisy Pearce on the wing or back flank where she can use better vision and space to direct the ship, eg: Hodge.  Pearce dcxaqn come at the footy from outside the square, receiving and using the footy to good effect.  Wasted as a first touch in-under type player.

I like Paxman R/R in the midfield setup. We lack physicality in the crunches, physical power to stand up under tackling pressure or bumps with ball in hand, & we lack poise with the ball, inside the contest.

The girls around the boundary appear to need to ask for permission, before they try to do something, after marking the bloody ball???  PLAY on!!!

Create some bloody movement into our play.   stuff this static type footy from Melbourne !!!

Break up the play with carrying the 'effing' footy.  The players forward our our ball carrier can move according to the direction of carrier.

If you have space to move with the footy, USE IT !!!

The girls are already playing the same useless Melbourne style of ball use, as we've done for decades.

No wonder these girls are hesitant to make a decision with the ball. And lose their confidence with the team.

It appears we try to play a clean cut skilled style, which comes unstuck under pressure.  Just give the first option, and move the 'effing' ball; and keep it moving. Keeping the opposition playing mental catch-up.

I reckon we will have some players wanting to move on with the introverted style of offence we tend to lapse into.

What is it with this club, that we all seem to go into a conservative mindset with the bloody footy in hand.

The first one to Brennan which resulted in a goal from straight in front was as bad as you will see.

Here's the deal from my view guys. We've missed a GOLDEN opportunity to be something in a league that WILL grow in the coming years and will only become bigger than we could imagine. Next year it'll grow to 8 the year after 10, and it'll jut keep growing. We've had the best squad the last two years and have missed narrowly each time, due not to lack of talent but our coaches instruction RE conversion and forward 50 entries. I really hope Stinear gets the boot and we can get a coach next year minus unfortunately Mithen, Cranston, Hoare and others who will take us to the flag! Those lost playes WILL be Stinear's legacy.

The game plan for all teams in the AFLW should be pretty simple, just get the ball forward, create pressure and opportunities.

No point trying to be fancy with your skills because at this stage very few players are up to it.

Also, Melbourne are terrible at getting the ball when it's on the ground, always half a second too late to react.

A little early to start slowing down the play.

This is it exactly.

If garland gave the message to the girls to start slowing back on offence; I want him sacked immediately.   This is typical Melbourne of taking no chances.  And drop off the offensive pressure.

We cannot affords this attitude to reemerge within our club after all the rebuilding.

Any wonder whenever we get a lead, we never bury sides.

We play the conservative insurance,  'do no damage' game.  Its 'bullsh'.

A sure way to backfire and lose,  which is what I thought as soon as that girl started waving her arms to slow it up.

We lost this game after we were holding the momentum against the bloody wind, & then we 'surrendered the momentum', back to the Doggies.

We simply did not deserve to win this game with the lack of fortitude we used, to play winning footy.

The doggies played the better style of footy around the contests and packs getting clean ball to teammates who tried to move the footy forward in a positive manner.

I feel like we were out-coached by the Dogs who used a simpler method of footy.

Except it seems that many others are reacting the same or similar way. So perhaps it’s just a normal reaction to watching a club we are passionate about be the whipping boy for so long?

Each to their own I guess, but you got some good likes. Well done ?

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
