Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

One horrible throw in and usual home crowd dubious frees cost them the match.   The ump threw it straight in right at the end there instead of towards the centre and gave them about a 20 meter advantage with the wind instead of 5 or so ??

That disgraceful free kick at the start of the quarter cost us the grand final. That umpire should never see his way onto a footy field again.

Dubious my arse.

We let ourselves down bad kicking and overhandballing when you just need to get it forward and lock it in. We played dumb footy and basically got what we deserved for an entire season of bad kicking inside forward 50

They played better because they wanted it more than us.

Ah I forgot we missed an open goal from 10 meters out in the 3rd.... That also came back to haunt them

At what point do we as a club actually come out and stand for something because right now we stand for nothing.

From a administrative level, we allow the AFL to [censored] us up the arse in every way imaginable.

From a coaching level we continually make the same stupid mistakes time and time again.

From a player level we continually loose games we should win against lowly opposition.

And it applies equally to the men’s, women’s and VFL aspects of the club. For Christ sake, stop being such limp dicked pushovers arggghhhhhh

EDIT: rant over, off to play Fortnite

Once they kicked the goal, I already undressed and got into bed. Not getting hung over tomorrow for that. Didn’t even watch the end. Drunk as a skunk, but still trying to forget it. Now to just sober up and try to forget it and why I wasted my time watching it. 40 mins I’ll never get back.

You can rationalise why certain frees are paid in AFL - “head is sacrosanct” or “ must keep the ball moving”, however in AFLW I have no idea how the clowns pick the frees. The female umpires seem to have a feel for the game, but fair dinkum, where on earth do they get those male umpires from. No idea, inconsistent with absolutely no feel for the game.

At one stage in the first qtr we had 10 inside50 to zip but couldn't put a decent score on the board.  Story of our season.  We have kicked 37 goals and 50 points this season.  Lost easy games to Freo and Pies because of terrible kicking...season down the drain right there.

So, my head says we only have ourselves to blame.  But my heart goes out to the team, especially Daisy as she gets worked over week after week and gets no protection from the umpires.

You probably caused a few heart attacks with the first line. Sounds like you have drunk a shitload.

[censored] all to do with bad umpiring. It’s the [censored] kicking for goal and dropped marks. Been happening all year.

It wasn't this game, it was those preceding, Mick Stinear (spelt it right finally) failed to take advantage of the best midfield he'll ever get. Extremely disappointed that the dees have missed their best chance in a long time to make a GF. Next year Mithen, Cranston, Hoare plus others will be gone to expansion. A missed opportunity that lays with Stinear.

Mick Stinear time to go. Game plan stinks, big time. Nobody ever runs in support past  a pack to receive a releasing handball, it's  just handball round in circles circa Neeld era. Dogs deserved to win every day of the week despite those two dodgy frees straight in front. Newman kicks the goal and we win that. We have a new Jordie McKenzie. Daisy and O'Dea make Brock McLean look like Usain Bolt. What a wasted season.

Very disappointing and in some ways not our night. Not our night with the umps, not our night with the bounce of the ball at times. Second half was excellent. First quarter had to be 2 or 3 up, burnt chances.

But the problem with this side is the footy smarts are just below where they need to be due to so many athlete turn footballers. 2 soccer players, a life saver, a couple of netballers and a bunch of basketballers and they play an aggressive brand of footy but the Dogs had more players who do the things that make it easier for their team mates.

So often the Melbourne girls go to certain spots on the ground and don't instinctively make space for each other which would then make it far easier to chip the ball down the field and use the space.

Anyway, in some respects the difference was Newman - who gives her all - is a soccer player turned footballer and botched what was a simple run in goal because she got nervous. If she runs to the line it's a goal. If she slows up and balances up it's a goal. She did half of each. Then Conti - a basketballer turned footballer who had a bunch of junior development - goals from 5m out and sneaks it in by half a mm. The extra junior training makes that little difference.

And even though regular posters know my contempt for Jordan Lewis and how I think leadership is overrated we saw tonight the Dees also lost because they didn't get their stoppage set up right. They had 2 loose in the back 50 which is fair with 90 seconds to go but left a loose Dog over the back of the throw in. Of course the wind blows it over the back (again, footy smarts lacking from several of the players not to read that), in to the loose dog who handballs to the goal kicker who fortunately for her is on her preferred left side and goals. Pick up the spare at the stoppage and we likely win the game.

Here's a tweet that shows the stoppage set up and the loose dog. 2 loose dees inside 50 is fine but you have to keep bringing forwards in to the contest until you block it up. That's the ball game.

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
