Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

That is a very pertinent thought.

At least, whoever he ( Viney) plays against, will not have to worry about getting a broken jaw, in questionable circumstances, when he was just starting off a career.......

From what I can see he has followed the timeline he told Saty in about November. I'm not aware of any major setbacks since then. The training reports since Jan have had him running flat out for 2 1/2 months now and he's back in the full training about when he said he would.  His plantafacia injury healed normally the consequent stress fracture was the set back. It's not one of those injuries like a navicular that can be career ending. Trenners injury has spooked us all but that's not what he's got.

It's true you can't trust anything players or the Club say about injuries but hearing that he's done full training in the main group for about a month now and continues to says all I need to hear.

I guess one big question is consequent, or just subsequent.

Viney, out, abblett in, we go into the game as underdog's.

We play our best footy when we are underdog's.

I want viney back when he is 100% and not a day before!

For those wondering with Viney, listen to Dom Tyson's interview last night, it is all about k's in the legs, he hasn't done enough and won't have by Rd 1

Bring him back early just asking for a soft tissue injury

Edit   I am sure Viney will be asking how he can get the extra k's in before Rd 1, think this is a very public NO from the club

But he was training at high intensity two weeks ago albeit on his own and with 3 assistant coaches for large parts of training and then joining in for group exercises at times, as I witnessed. But has been absent lately at training? Has there been a set back in the last 2 weeks?

Maybe he is doing intense training away from the club, & prying eyes?

Agree. Never going to play.  Needs more time and fitness. Maynard now in.

You have to be kidding. I sure hope the likes of ANB and Harmes are ready. They are much better at this stage.

For periods of last season when Maxy, Chunk and Viney went down, I was impressed by our ability to just find a way.

We need to do that again.

Yep it's what good sides do.

"Whilst he has not had any setbacks in his rehab program, Jack has not completed enough football sessions."

You can do all the gym work and running etc. you want, but sooner or later, if you're a footballer, you have to train playing football.

Hindsight is always 20/20 but with finals on the line, can you blame the club for trying to rush him back as earlty as possible?

My word I blame the Club.  Nothing hindsight about it. Thought it was dumb then & still think it was dumb. Why on earth risk a champion player.  We know how difficult foot injuries can be.

Medical  degrees must be going cheap now, with so many medical specialists on DL,who know far more about injuries and rehab than our club medical and fitness staff.

You don’t need a medical degree to see the risks involved in bringing a player back too early from a foot injury. Do you?

The medical staff are paid for those kinds of decisions. Paid well. The lack of foresight was quite astonishing if you ask me.

I also find it weird that Goodwin and Mahoney initially said Viney would be ready to play round 1 and maybe even a JLT game a few weeks ago. Yet now the msg is that he hasn’t had enough conditioning or kms to be considered ready.

If he hasn’t had any hiccups, then wouldn’t they have known that he wouldn’t be in contention for round 1 given the lack of conditioning he’s had thus far in pre-season?

I know plenty of supporters don’t care about this stuff. But the lack of clarity and mixed msges surrounding injury at the MFC has always been an annoyance imo.

Or constantly reading between tje lines, and looking for any excuse to carp

Viney looks ready to go at training, he has told me he is right on track, the Club are being extra cautious.....great I say

Again, thanks for sharing nothing we don’t already know.

“He’s a chance to play (in the pre-season competition) but definitely round 1.”

That’s a direct quote from Goodwin from Feb 21.

What is the purpose in saying such things if it’s at odds with the reality of his situation?

I don’t understand it. The club need to be better at communicating. It’s not that hard to say; “Jack will be assessed closer to the eve of the season due to the lack of conditioning he’s had over the pre-season.”

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
