Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

it's only a toe, dv8

Only a toe, kept Frost out for around 6 months. It troubled him for more than 12 months.

Conservative with injuries especially early season is crucial.  We can take risks if need be later in the season IF we are desperate.

I would rather have Tmc cheery ripe, before he comes into the side.  I don't want him tormented by this injury, all through the season.

Viney came back too soon last year, didn't end well.

Gawn came back too soon last year, didn't end well.

Watts came back under rehabbed last year, stuffed our season.  Didn't end well.

Its no surprise that our momentum went into a downward spiral, when these players started to return to the team, all too soon.

2017 didn't end well for the Mfc.

Not sure whether a sore toe would be more painful in the foot kicking the ball or planted on the ground thereby taking the full weight. Presumably others on Demonland have experience and can advise.

Also troublesome in packs, around wandering boots.

But is it the toe, or an ankle?

These days with so much mis-information, its really hard to know what the truth is.

But the reality is, its really tough to ruck with buggered feet.  And to play CHF.

Imperative we don't take risks before the season even starts.

You can play with a cracked rib. You can play with a crack in the jaw.

But try to run and jump in a game, with only one good foot, let alone having to kick on the run.

My questions for Mr Misson are:

If Tom McDonald is feeling so much better now after 10 days off legs then why wasn't he given 10 days off legs when he first felt sore 8 weeks ago?

AND

Why did he play in the AFLX shambles at on the Etihad car park if there was knowledge that he had any sort of niggle that could be exacerbated by a firm surface?

Careful Spence, too much logic in your questioning.

My thoughts exactly!

Why, oh why do we take chances with foot issues.  Thought we had learnt with Trengove and Viney to not let them play with delicate injuries that can only improve with rest!  Risks are too high!

Very short-sighted - may win a game or two but risk have our best players out for an extended period of time.

MFCSS alive and well for 2018.

I hate seeing injuries to key players as much as anyone else but our challenge now is to get on with the task of putting 22 players on the field and getting the job done.

If stupidity was an Olympic sport, there are a number of employees of the MFC that would be strong favourites to bring home the gold medal in their respective weight divisions.

Not only do we allow Jack Viney to destroy his foot by playing him early against all prevailing medical wisdom, we allow Tom McDonald to do the same thing six months later. At least Viney's problems stem from regular season matches - the club was stupid enough to let McDonald play a shitty exhibition game two months out from the season.

Given the countless half truths and outright lies spoken by everyone from the coach down since Viney's initial injury, I can only assume that we will spend the next 23 weeks enduring the same regarding McDonald's problem. Time for the club to man up and admit to their errors of judgement and give honest timelines for the returns of both Jack and Tom.

PS. Vandenberg - indefinite, McKenna - indefinite. So glad my membership dollars are paying for these two to not play football for the club.

The level of honesty we get from the club re injuries is really poor. So if they are saying up to 8 weeks then its much longer than that. Don't believe the spin. Was going to be round 1, then round 2/3, then whenever. Serious longer term concerns with Viney now which bring into question the quality of our sports science  and medical teams. When are we going to hold them to account? Disgraceful

Just heard this on SEN, damn this sucks.

The 6 doesn't surprise me. 10 days off legs, then 10-14 days reloading, then training and vel games adds up.

Plus, probably a shorter time frame than the dreaded 426. ?

The club isn't going to know how Viney or anyone for that matter responds when they ramp up their training... I'm sure 2 weeks ago the aim was round 1 for Viney. He joins in full training & pulls up sore, how can the club know how he'll pull up & respond. Same with TMac, he missed the last JLT with the hope he'll respond with 2 weeks rest & clearly he hasn't & now the best course of action is to be cautious & rest it... They could miss 12+ weeks until they join in training & pull up fine no'one will know

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
