Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Never like things being "pencilled in". I much prefer something like ink that can't be erased and changed.

Viney and Hibberd both listed as 2-3 weeks.

Hunt down to 1 week.

Harmes remains a chance to get up for Saturday night's clash against Adelaide despite having surgery to fix a broken hand on Monday. The midfielder will be tested at training on Wednesday. The Demons expect Vineyand Hibberd to return in round 21. Casey has a bye this weekend, so Hunt should be available to play the week after.

Just reported on the AFL site that Oliver left the track early with a quad complaint.

Our good run with injuries has not only come to a screeching halt, it’s now in reverse.

Hopefully he pulls up okay but geez it’d be a risk to play him now.

No mention of Jesse and Clarry on the official list -

Melbourne injury list: round 19

Jayden Hunt (ankle) – available
Mitch King (concussion) – available
Harry Petty (rested) – available
Mitch Hannan (knee) – test
James Harmes (hand) – test
Dion Johnstone (quadriceps) – 1 week
Michael Hibberd (quadriceps) – 3 weeks
Jack Viney (toe) – 3-4 weeks
Jake Lever (knee) – season
Corey Maynard (hip) – season
Billy Stretch (toe) – season

Harmes more likely NOT to play according to Misson.

Hibberd still 3 weeks away. Viney 3-4 weeks. That's both of them done for the year unless we march into September, and even then they'll be underdone fitness-wise. Disappointing to cop those injuries at the wrong end of the year!

Assuming the above is correct and in view of the fact that no new injuries were reported from the weekend, this is what we can expect from the next injury list:-

Melbourne injury list: round 20

Jayden Hunt (ankle) – available
Mitch King (concussion) – available
Harry Petty (rested) – available
Mitch Hannan (knee) – available
James Harmes (hand) – available
Dion Johnstone (quadriceps ) – available
Michael Hibberd (quadriceps) – 2 weeks
Jack Viney (toe) – 2-3 weeks
Jake Lever (knee) – season
Corey Maynard (hip) – season
Billy Stretch (toe) – season

Meaning only five players on the injury list with two significant players due to return soon.

Jesse looked to be nursing a few ailments during the game. Possibly knee/groin/ankle.

I also thought Petracca had some shoulder soreness during the game.

Both played out the game and were instrumental in the sealer.

jesse has been carrying a bung shoulder since the first win against the dogs, i think?

part of the reason he's only going up one-handed at most contests

he also copped a hip flexor injury against the cats and wrenched his knee against the crows - which is why he can't jump at the ball and presumably is why he's playing from behind all the time

he doesn't need a rest; he just needs management

you do not 'rest' your best players when there's four weeks to go in the season and you're fighting for a spot in the 8

Hunt will play at Casey this weekend.

That's great news. Hopefully he can find some form. I like what Hunt brings and he could be a weapon in 3 or 4  weeks time....(avoided saying the 'f' word...)

god we really need Hibbo and Viney back for Sydney

I think we can account for Sydney even without them.

It's all about the West Coast game for me. With what this club has been through last year, that game looms as the biggest for this club in forever (yes, even bigger than the R23 Collingwood game last year).

Won there last year. Didn't make finals. To go back again and secure a spot in this year's finals after they knocked us out, with them firmly in the top four, would be our official return from the Wilderness.

And it goes without saying that Viney and Hibberd are crucial to that.

Don't forget the WCE game is at a new ground (same size as MCG) that we haven't played on yet. Last year was at Subiaco.

I'm just happy to take it one week at a time for now, we cant afford to take GC lightly, they beat Sydney at home only a couple of weeks back.

Unfortunately, round 22 at the earliest for Hibberd and Viney.  With a bit of luck it will be before the end of H&A games.

Better to play it safe with them, we rushed Viney last year in a desperate attempt to make the finals and it backfired terribly. Let’s make sure they are good to go regardless of our position.

Good to see that Hogan and Petracca have been given the all clear from their niggles over the weekend. Though I think Jesse will be on light duties until the weekend.

Collingwood's is also looking bad.

Tyson Goldsack (knee) - test
Jeremy Howe (concussion) - test
Max Lynch (soreness) – test
Brody Mihocek (ankle) - test
Brayden Sier (leg) – test
Jordan De Goey (leg) - 1 week
Flynn Appleby (hamstring) - 1-2 weeks
Rupert Wills (hamstring) - 1-2 weeks
Adam Treloar (hamstrings) - 5-6 weeks
Jamie Elliott (hamstring) - TBC
Kayle Kirby (medical condition) - indefinite
Matthew Scharenberg (knee) - season

Long-term injuries
Tim Broomhead (broken leg) – season
Lynden Dunn (knee) – season
Daniel Wells (foot) – season

14 players with about half a dozen best 22 sidelined.  Could cost them a top 4 spot :)

Too bad they are on 12 wins already, they should make the finals now.

If they were on 11 they would not make it with that injury list.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
