Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Ablett may be sidelined for Round 1

New year, new comp.  Most teams (except Norf) will go into the season believing they are some chance to improve on last year.  Some will, some won't.  We have more talent, greater depth, seeming cohesion and cultural improvement and not so many injuries.  If we can build our experience playing and winning under pressure, I think we will be a good chance against all comers.  Geelong have Ducker, Danger and Gablett.  Not sure what else.

I always think by round 6 you have a pretty good idea on the year ahead.  Last year the Swans were the exception to this rule.  SO 6-0 for us and I will be a very happy camper!

Life is much easier when we stuff up like we usually do.

The tension that goes with success is something we rarely have to deal with as MFC supporters.

Yes going into games last year actually expecting to win just upped my blood pressure. Also explains why I have only just got over Rnd 23.

given ablett's age and recent injury history i'd say he is 75% chance of missing round 1

viney maybe 50/50 but the next 3 weeks should give us a better idea

Especially if he doesn’t take his medicine.

Naughty boy!

Our inaccurate kicking didn't help us either. We could have put the game beyond doubt at 3/4 time even with Maxy's injury.

The Geelong supporters that I sat around at that game (I sat in their members!) all knew we snatched defeat from the jaws of victory.  They were quite pleasant at the start of the game, but by half way through the 3rd quarter, they were turning on each other, and most wanted to kill me (I was actually very well behaved).  They knew that they were going to lose, and hated every minute of it.

All of a sudden, we kept kicking points, and they kicked some ridiculous goals (Menzel's banana from the boundary about 40m out), they got momentum, and the rest is history.

To top it off, their [censored] supporters came crawling back to me half way through the last when it was clear they were going to run over the top of us.

@Fat Tony on Friday.

"The Age reporting Ablett has hamstring tightness upon hearing the news Jack will be right for Round 1."

It wasn't really a joke, was it?:)

I would not think it was a joke, FT. It is more like an epistle on the absolutely bad luck a team may be forced to endure prior to and during a game against Melbourne. Saddens the heart, doesn't it? Poor things; there goes anotheree for poor old Geelong. On the upside, one less tag for us and thus, one more Demons' speedster freed to run amok to assist in the eventual win. Hey, suddenly I am not so sad.

You know what, I'd rather he play - will get another 15,000 bums on seats and I'd rather beat their full strength side.  Better test for us and who doesn't want to see Viney, Oliver, Petracca v Danger, Selwood, Ablett?!

I agree and it sounds good. However Ablett out and beat them, even better. Make them suffer.

In all seriousness ...the older players are far more susceptible to soft tissues and general soreness...exh a ..one J Lewis.

Ablett wont play a full season from here on.  If hes a bit proppy now...wait til it ramps up ;)

I don't care if he plays or not. Worry about two things

1 Who you have got and npt who you haven't

2 Go in with a plan to beat the 22 in front of you.

This is what makes good sides. When we get beyond choosing when to show up, we've arrived.

They are sweating on junior playing, Geelong have put everything in junior being the difference in them winning a flag, his hammy will trouble him all year, that's why he was resting at Gold coast ever few weeks,  many thought  he was putting it on because he wanted out, he did want out but his hammys  were giving him trouble, this confirms it.  I think his hammy are sore after every game, Geelong will be pushing him to play every week, hopefully this stresses his hammys and he pulls it good.

    ICEBREAKER by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

    MAULED by Whispering Jack

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
