Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Who plays in JLT v North Melbourne 24/2?

The first round of VFL stretches over almost two week between April 8 and April 17.

Casey's match is scheduled last on April 17. The same day as the seniors play round 3.

IIRC much the same happened last year re the fringe players missing several weeks because of the comparatively short VFL season. Combine this with the byes that do not seem to be co-ordinated and the VFL has a few shortcomings.

Makes the JLT important for those pressing for round 1 as "Casey form" will not be  a factor for several weeks.

They usually play a big schedule of practice games starting at least in the week before AFL round 1 and continuing most weeks until the VFL season starts.

Hopefully @KC from Casey or someone can confirm.

Some of these guys seem to be as fragile as china dolls. Too many injuries are creeping back or staying around (yet again). Van den Berg looks like he’s finished. Viney’s foot could easily be more of a worry than they're letting on. Jones is getting old. Tyson is injury prone. Weidemann is fragile.

Vandenburg won't be on list at end of yeat if he can't get onto the park soon.

Dom Ty Son looks like he will struggle as well.

It’s great that Tyson has had a full pre-season up until now.

Its great that we have very few serious injuries and most of our young core have had full pre-seasons.

Alls it means is that Tyson will have to play at his absolute best as an extractor to get a place in our team due to his lack of positional versatility, poor two-way running and obvious disposal weakness.

Don't think so. Dom is best 22 and coming off his best pre season at the dees. Assuming the calf is as small as being suggested and barring any other injuries will play most games.

As much as we'd like to see Spargo and Baker get a run this JLT, there's no need to rush them.

Out of the recent draftees Fritch looks most likely to get a game.

I'd like to see Keilty and King get a game before Spargo and Baker at this stage.

If Tyson doesn't make the best 22 then it's a sign that we have a number of midfielders who have gone past him. Which can only be a good sign for our list and our prospects.

No passengers and no free games.

This is where we need Salem and Brayshaw to cement their places in the midfield (both need  to get the ball more) and for the likes of Maynard, ANB and even Stretch to push for more midfield time.

I'm a Dom Tyson fan, but these stats are a little misleading - yes, he is terrific at getting his hands on the footy.  It's what he sometimes does with it that hurts.

Ranked 10th in clangers per game and 7th in turnovers per game (in the AFL), although Dustin Martin is number 1 in both so doesn't mean a lot.

However, heart goes in the mouth every time he has the ball and he is very slow.

6 to 20mm of rain is the forecast for Saturday. There will be a stampede for the tiny grandstand when the gates open.

One of my mates' sons is playing in the AusKick at half time.

I was having a discussion re Tyson's pace this week.  The consensus was his pace is ok, but more importantly, for someone not blessed with speed it rarely hurts him.   He's rarely run down or rushed.  He's one of those few players with time.

If he can eliminate the 2 or 3 brain fades per game he can become a very good player.

This has been his best preseason and at 24 he's only now entering his best years as a footballer.

If a fit Tyson isn't making the team we'll be ridiculously good.

Good points ProDee.   Hope that doesn't make him borderline laconic though.....

And risk the old guys getting injured in waste of time games? Why?

AFL, VFL, Local footy, they all need a couple of games under their belt.

In 2014 I would have agreed with this assesment as he looked like the second coming of Pendlebury, but I just don’t see it anymore.

I fear he has lost any explosiveness he once had and in my experience players seem to rarely recover it.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
