When we lost to the Bombers top up team in Round 2, 2016, I wrote an essay on instagram to express my frustration and may have used some choice words to describe some of the players. I also tagged every player that played that day in the post

I think 3 or 4 players have now blocked me on instragram because of that

Wore my Melbourne jumper around England in 1965 (see me pictures at a Butlins Holiday Camp in red and blue.). Recorded kicks, marks and goals from radio commentaries as a kid. Lou Richards was the best commentator. In the old days we used to run round the ground each quarter so we could be at the end Melbourne were kicking to.

Probably the onyl really strange thing to my name is from the late 2005 must-win game against the Bulldogs. I needed a bit of help from a friend to get out of the ground. Totally sober, I'd just injured my gut yelling so much, so was a bit doubled over. Pretty sure security had come over to our section to 'check on' me during that last quarter, since I was tanding on a chair for a fair bit of it. But they wandered off happily enough because they could see I wasn't being obnoxious or drunk.

At the end of the 2005 season, on the monday after the disasterous Geelong game, I just wandered down to the junction oval for no particular reason, and just sat around. Funnily enough, and not really unexpected I guess, many players were coming in and out in groups for recovery and end of season debriefs and that sort of thing. IT was a strange, low-key atmosphere. Not miserable at all, there was an air of disappointment mixed with optimism for 2006.

Lol I was a LOT younger (and foolish) back then. Lost a bet along with a mate and we had to agree to run down the street naked. Waited until about 2am. Both of of us stripped to our birthday suits. Not my famous moment, but am a woman of my word. Good lesson not to make foolish bets when drunk.

Nowdays the worst I’ve had to do is wear the oppositions jumper for a day (probably even more humiliating).

It was awful. They assured me no one else could do it. Of course the other managers friend who was a demon supporter didn’t have to.

Almost as bad, after the 2000 grand final loss, I had to go right to work. It was the last thing I wanted to do. Worked late. Then I watched the 1964 highlights from “Fabulous grand finals of the 60’s” and thought to myself, “this is still the closest we have to a premiership video” ?

Attended and sat at the 2000 grand final with my best mates from school who are Essendon supporters , we were in year 12 back then and I was the only one who was 18 , and for some reason I got my ticket with them lining up around colonial stadium . Anyways it was all surprisingly civilised , I piped down after quarter time and stayed to the end, shook hands at the siren and trudged off down the old Olympic stand walked off through Fitzroy gardens where dad picked me up . Still best friends , but interestingly they both dropped off footy considerably post uni days , with one completely going off footy full stop, this coming from being hard core going along every week types.

Having to sit next to the Whorethorn Cheer Squad van for over an hour whilst they celebrated in the VFL Park Carpark, waiting to get out after losing the ‘87 Prelim Final. I couldn’t speak, but i could have killed someone that day. 

It still has a numb feeling after 30 years, and people wonder why the merger scenario caused so much angst.

My dad was there. Told me all about it years later. He physically cried at the game and he’s not a man who cries easily. Couldn’t even go to a pub to commiserate afterwards. Came home and didn’t speak to us until the next day. It was awful. We all felt it.

Yeah i couldn’t speak for a few hours, it was similiar to a death in the family and i say that in total respect. I was actually too sad to cry. It was like going into shock without the physical pain. 

Only other MFC Supporters who were actually there, or listening to the radio ? will understand the numb darkness

Don't worry, they deserved it.   That game was a disgrace and it was that classic MFC fragility that crept in to Round 23 last season vs the Pies and cost us a finals berth.

I travel a lot for my job, but in my current job I get to mostly dictate when I travel so have planned many an overseas trip to fit within a week that means I do not miss football games in Victoria. 

I also sat through a meeting in China once while secretly watching the football on my phone (we won).

Have been to football on crutches with a broken knee and broken toes. Have also left hospital early after an operation so I can go to the football (that was by far the stupid thing I've done).

Sadly this year I am going away on a personal holiday and will be missing 3 matches, including Queens Birthday... but it was a better option than taking leave in September like I did last year, and spent the entire season dreading missing finals. 

I also permanently scarred my boyfriend last year, when I accidentally elbowed him in the arm during a game due to over excitement (or rage?). He had just got a tattoo, and I elbowed him straight on the same spot. There's a tiny little bit of skin/tattoo missing now, which he enjoys showing me every time I ask him why he doesn't enjoy the footy with me.... Lucky he loves me!

A few years back, I was so excited to meet Robert Flower because I hadn’t before. There were a few guys crowding around him and I was the only female. I patiently waited my turn. When it was my turn, it was time for him to leave. I was upset, but then he suddenly just turned to me and said, “hello.” On impulse, I kissed him on the cheek. He left and that was the last time I ever saw him.

I used to go to every game we played for the first time at an oval for premiership points 

- never forget the first game we ever played at Subiaco, they hated us for just being Victorian

- never forget the first game we played at Footy Park in SA, 11 hour drive, Round 2 1991 OMG I genuinely feared for my life and Crows won the game.
