Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

I thought “Diamond” Joe Gutnick was the messiah

Sorry, not. It was foretold.

23 Then if any man shall say unto you, Lo, here is the messiah, or there; believe it not.

24 For there shall arise false messiahs, and false prophets, and shall shew great signs and wonders; insomuch that, if it were possible, they shall deceive the very members.

25 Behold, I have told you before.

26 Wherefore if they shall say unto you, Behold, he is in the Long Room; go not forth: behold, he is sitting in the cheer squad; believe it not.

27 For as the lightning cometh out of the east, and shineth even unto the west; so shall also the coming of the blow-in presidents of the MFC be.

If Lever is getting $750k it’s probably $200k over the odds.

But that’s what you have to do unless you have a huge geographic advantage like Geelong with a Dangerfield going back to Moggs Creek or Ablett heading home, Gibbs going back to Adelaide.

The Melbourne based teams are always facing multiple teams to pick up a player, even with a come home factor, interstate clubs likely only one, Geelong have a few points of difference that really give them a significant benefit for recruitment.

Lever makes our team better, it’s a worthwhile deal. TMac into forward line will be exciting to watch. Adelaide we’re very dirty to lose him. Anyway time will tell on Lever.

So the Adelaide B&F is the criterion for recruiting and paying a player?

Gawn, Hogan and Brayshaw finished 22nd, 23rd and 26th respectiverly in ours. Yes, they were injured a lot, but if the B&F finish was the yardstick, we'd be getting in the pick 80s for the three of them.

Maybe that's what the missing 18 and a half minutes on the tapes concerned?

There was a reason why Hunter S. Thompson was as scathing as he was in that obituary he wrote, you know.

Given the way he played, would it be too much to ask whether Scott Thompson's nickname was "Hunter"?

Lever will probably make the decisive difference between winning and losing a couple of games this season. He'll be a strong contributor in many more.

That's how valuable he can be, as the best young player in the game at a role that is perhaps the most critical single position in our game plan.

He's an absolutely core part of putting us in genuine premiership contention.

I have my concerns that we paid too much at the trade table...............

Because we have such a long history of attracting AA quality players to the Dees........

You do know that the market is the market. And if you don't meet the market you don't get your player?

Please list the large number of quality players wanting to come to the Dees and how much we would have to pay for them. And when they will be available. Just for comparison purposes you know...

6. Taylor Walker 211
7. Tom Lynch 203
8. Brad Crouch 194
9. Brodie Smith 194
10. Eddie Betts 187

10 handy players who beat him.

I have my concerns that we paid too much at the trade table and that we'll also have to temper expectations because he played in a very good team with a lot of support - a excellent CHB in Talia, a decent other tall in Hartigan and 2 excellent flankers to move the ball in Laird and Smith helped him play his role.

He also plays a fairly risky game backing himself to zone off and be the interceptor.

All of that said when he's having a good game he's an exceptional interceptor and can control a game. Plus is young enough to keep improving and the right kind of leader.

Reading that young Jake ( to whom we are paying a fortune) managed to finish 11th in the Adelaide   B and F,  prompted dark thoughts.

is it possible that both Jake and big Johnny Tilbrook have the same player agents? I recall that we bet the Members' Stand on  Tilbrook, to very little effect.

Missed 5.5 games with a hammies last year. It was for this reason he was not top 10 or even top 5 (look how close the points spread is from 3+)

He better, cos we've leaked Howe and Frawley in recent times.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
