Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

very surprised Mifsud has not been selected. I though she was our best key forward last year. Anyone got any goss? Selected as an emergency so presumably not injured.

Really? Bugger, she was my favorite.

I love footy season.

Go girls. Lets bring home a flag, and give the guys something to chase.

Mifsud was one of mine too - possibly hasn’t trained enough houses down. And Cordner is a big name out as well.

Interesting that new girl Tegan Cunningham is named, straight out of basketball, as the tall forward at a similar height as Mifsud (185 / 184cm)

We appeared shorter than our opposition last season. I hope that Edin Zanker can play at some stage, as she is a giraffe who looks great in her highlights, and appears to have some nice physicality about her.

Daisy at F.F?  Nah.

Looking forward to this game.

i find it really hard to get interested in womens footy to be honest. if they did afl fantasy for womens footy then id follow it :)

Must admit, I absolutely hated the first game I watched. The skill level reminded me of primary school football. I was embarrassed to watch it.

But as more games were played, I could see not just the rapidly improving skills, but the physicality and commitment of the players. In fact, the Women were playing the type of physical football that I wished our men had played during the 40+ years I have been watching.

If you can see past the gender thing with its obvious differences, and view it through the Red & Blue of the Guernsey,  you might just get some enjoyment out of it. Ask the players how they feel about it. I'm confident they would say they are not simply Women Footballers, but they play for the Melbourne Demons. Pride in the jumper, total effort, and respect for the clubs history is all I ask from them. The fact we have a side that is fun to watch is a nice bonus.

I'm a fan.

Going by the CFC game tonight (I watched a Q or so) the standard hasn't lifted and the last touch rule has done nothing to open the game up and improve scoring.

My only interest is in seeing us win, I'm afraid a look at the scores will do me for now.

Thats the main issue with the womens game. Terribly low scoring.

Can see the AFL changing every rule to allow more goals.

I enjoyed some of  the AFLW last year but tonight's game was an absolute shocker. I thought the 16 a side was meant to open the game up.

I didn't see tonight's game, but I believe Carlton are going to be a very defensive team for the season, hopefully the other games will be higher scoring.

The problem last year was that the girls dropped easy marks, or missed a kick pass, causing congestion and low scores. Hopefully we see improvements in those areas, possibly opening up the game and scoring a little more. ??

I can live with low scores as long as the Dees win though. ?

Watched parts of it and clearly the players are developing for sure.

Fitness is way up on last year. The physicality and endeavour is incredible. Skills are not quite there but have improved.

I don’t know what you’d expect from players who are year 2 into a semi-professional competition.

The game this arvo is just down the road from me so I will go and have a look. I hope we play better than last nights game which was poor. To see the game at the ground will also be interesting.

I think the AFL are making a mistake bringing new teams in over the next couple of years.

The talent pool is obviously not there yet.

It's paddock footy with a huge marketing budget.

Maybe Carlton and Collingwood are just kr@p teams and the rest of the competition are ok (just like last year), The standard improved as the season evolved  last year, but there were really only four competitive teams at the end.(Dees Crows, Lions and Bullies sort of). I'm all for it, after 4 months of no footy, I'll happily take this

We are the better side, and our midfielders are miles better than theirs, but you wont win by kicking soccer scores.

Simply must find a way to the goals.

The overhead marking has been impressive, but a negative is Cranston. A wasted spot in the team. Just does not provide a contest for a girl of her size.

Daisy has been poor also.

Some horrible kicking giving the Giants an advantage for rebounds.  Don't get me started on the 2nd qtr set shots for goals.

Wasted the wind completely.

Very disappointing.

Hi “rjay”. You sure got that one correct.

After looking forward to it, that half was frustrating to watch.

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh

They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P
