Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Love Nev.

Another key quote from the article:

"He is ranked No.1 in the AFL from 2011-2017 for the kick-rating stat, where Champion Data measures how well a player kicks the ball compared to the AFL average taking into account pressure, field position and intent."

Wasn't that long ago that people lamented our lack of foot skills, but clearly we are aquiring and importantly developing elite talents in this important area of the game in many parts of the ground.  I say developing, because I don't think Jetta would have been viewed this way early in his career.  I think it also has something to do with overall team improvement as players now have that bit more time, space and confidence to dispose of the ball better than in the shambles our team was when we were getting smashed.  Full credit to Nev though too, because clearly he has really knuckled down and developed his game since being delisted.  Also an illistration of great determination and resilience to survive both being delisted and our era of depression.

Nice article which reinforces Nev's standing as one of my favourite players.  Not born with abundant talent, he has reached his present high standing in the competition through high principles, hard work and an unyielding never-say-die, team first attitude.  It's great to see him starting to get some of the recognition he deserves in the wider AFL community.

That stat spans 6 years, Nev has always been a good kick, hasn't happened overnight

Love Nev as well, and while he's a good kick, he's also very risk-adverse in his kicking choices which helps his stat in this area. Long penertating kicks to the advantage of player on the run are not Nevs standard kick from defence... like the opposite of Travis Johnston, which in a backman is not a bad thing.

I have such admiration for this player.  To have come out of the last ten years at this club the player he is is an incredible feat.  At the time of his delisting he could have been forgiven for running for the hills to get as far away from this shambolic club as possible.  But he didn’t.  He knuckled down and won the respect of his coaches, teammates, the opposition and now the whole footballing community.  He’s a great role model for every player in the league.

A team full of footy players with this bloke's attitude is what we need.

a great quote. I love watching him beat blokes that he shouldn't.

Agree, I always thoughts Jetta had something but we continually played him out of position.  He was never a small forward, lacked the tank for a midfield roll but down in the back pocket he has become the best back pocket player in the AFL

I wrote him off early when they were trying to turn him into a small forward. Not fast enough over the turf, and wasn't a reliable kick for goal so I reasoned. The move into the backline was a Hail Mary move to see if he had something..... ANYTHING that could salvage his career.

Not only did he prove me wrong, but he became one of the best defenders in the game.

Love his guts.

You will find two shoulder and an ankle reconstruction didn't help Nev early on either

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
