Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

On a more serious note, it's hard to take much from a Mickey Mouse game of 'footy', but a few things stood out.

a) Petracca made me nervous every time he changed direction or went air born, but his ability to keep his feet is outrageous.

b) Melksham and TMac have a vortex like ability to split the middle of the big sticks.

c) Bugg has a distinct lack of ability by foot and will struggle for games as such.

d) Seeing a blonde #4 with tattoos and some mongrel was a refreshing change.

@faultydet I asked Craig Jennings the club's approach to AFLX

'to win it',

I like a man of his word

He certainly looked very serious when they showed his mug on T.V

That's the mindset that will take us deep into finals. Lets hope the entire club is thinking the same way.

A couple of observations. Oscar McD needs (1) a big dose of awareness and (2) a bit quicker decision re what sort of disposal he is about to give off.  Brayshaw needs a bit of work on pace to the contest, he just seemed to look a bit slow tonight. That said, our endeavour was good but shots at (not on) goal were a slight worry. Tackling was excellent. Not much to beat but a win is all we could ask for.  Gotta remember it is only a series of short practice games.  By the way Ch 7 , get rid of those pathetic callers. They were abysmal.

Funny use of the word observations.

But agree on TMac's younger brother. he was unsighted all night.

Rapt we won.  A good hit out for a few of the boys.  Nice to see a mix of established talent with some raw newbies.  Plenty to like.  No injuries reported (phew!)

The only thing that matters.

player ratings time?

6 - melksham: will his nickname change from milkshake to zooper
5 - t mac: being ragdolled by preuss was hilarious, but he looks like he'll be good forward this year
4 - harmes: excellent in the air and with defensive intent
3 - jetta: only gets the three votes cos he only played in two games
2 - petracca: everything he does just oozes class
1 - bugg: he gets to the right spots and he works hard but he can't kick

Yeah it's still not footy, but it was a world of improvement on last night.Partly the balls changing to yellow... but mostly because the demons actually went and had a crack on some level while everyone else did training drills.

Not much to see here. Bugg has started aggressively, but is still blue collar. He'll play plenty of footy this year. Tracca was the most class we saw all night. Just needs more of the pill. He is unbelievable in the contest. Jetta didn't put a foot wrong. When does he.

Fritsch was ok, popped up and showed the type of player he is. Will be very much in the running for the Hannan/Harmes roles and is right now a ways off. Very Cale Morton type physically. That will need to be fixed before we see 22 games. I'd have liked to have seen more from Stretch, TBH. Wagner is Wagner.

What I like is that the early-mid age guys (21-23) are owning their space now. Regardless of the effort by the opposition, guys like Harmes and ANB create opportunities from nothing when the ball's in their area. Aggressive choices that ask questions of their opponents. That's what you want to see from players who are coming up to 50 games. And I don't reckon the type of game or the lack of fight by opposition dictates their results here. They're just good habits.

Skills started poor but really surprised me by the end. Easily the most skilled side of all 6 teams. Easily deserved to win it.

It would be interesting to hear thoughts from anyone else that attended the games.

Took the kids for a night out and it was an enjoyable evening for most part. The sideshow grew tiresome though.

There were a lot things going on during the games but it was good to see some of our boys around and add some cardboardware to the cabinet.

The clash strip was pleasing to the eye, looks like a winner.

We are running out of words to describe Jetta. The games tonight were really quick and his ability to read the play before an opponent even disposed of the ball was just incredible. Absolute marvel.

I popped over last night with the boy and we sat near the players

Suffice to say, there was a real feeling of camaraderie between them and in my opinion, I feel that most of the players have had a reshaping

Jesse is huge, as is CP5 - no way he'll play in the midfield...wrong shape

Oliver looked fit and lithe, as did Dom Tyson

Maxxy Gawn has also shed some weight, whereas Jets has really put on some muscle

I know I'm stating the obvious, but it seems that every player has been sculpted to do a role

It was a pretty good night and the chips were okay

Our intensity around the contest dropped off significantly once he left the squad last year. Not saying he's the difference but he brings it and can be our Didak equivalent. Maybe not an outstanding player but if he finds form he can be a game breaker. imo he's going to surprise a lot here this year just as Nibbler did last year.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
