Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Everyone's negative about this game, I wonder if it will be all negative when we play? I wonder if we win the title some will say its mean much or not, at least Geelong did not win the GF, I hope someone buries Gary into the turf in first bounce breaking his shoulder.

Grand final is about to start.

I heard The Rolling Stones and Beyoncé are the half time entertainment.

Nope.

Its a paper mache Moomba float towed behind a barely disguised Massey Ferguson, with The Seekers playing their old hits, and Zig & Zag mingling with the crowd, and juggling/miming, while providing their usual jocularity.

Ah, AFL, you have no rival when it comes to entertaining the plebs.

For a game built around fast ball movement and high scoring, this is amazingly...well...boring.

Part of what makes AFL (the original format) great to watch is the build-up and tension created before and after each goal. The excitement of kicking a goal is non existent in this format as play resumes immediately after each score. There's no opportunity to breathe and reflect on what's happened.

Also, I can't say that the BT and JB commentary combo is doing much to boost my enthusiasm.

Someone suggested earlier that it might make a good social game and I tend to agree.

As a professional spectacle, when compared to AFL football, it’s pretty terrible.  All the manufactured glitz and glamour (silver balls, LEF goal posts and zooper goals) is cringeworthy and grossly over-compensates for a competitive sport that is lacking any sense of competition.

As a game played at the local soccer pitch, with low stakes, limited contact and a bit of fun... it has some potential.

Absolutely meaningless, boring, pointless football.

I can't wait to see us lose a game tomorrow night so everyone can claim that our season is over before it begins and that Goodwin can't coach.

Calling it football gives it some undeserving credibility 'Wise'...

I was going to say it was a form of kick to kick but that's not right either. Lunchtime kick to kick was much more competitive when I was at school and there was always a good hanger or two.

...no, it's kind of like a straight line circle work hybrid of keepings off.

Goodwin isn't coaching, Craig Jennings is. Sack Jennings!

I know it's trendy to hate on it but I thought it was alright. I'll take anything on February 15th. Even these glorified training simulations.

Looking forward to seeing what Spargo, Fritsch and Baker are like.

Petracca better get gastro on Saturday morning.

Didn’t get much better than a Sunnyboy. I didn’t mind the odd Milky Freeze either.

I liked the oldskool Zooper Doopers from the 80’s, which were half the size and went under the name of Kool Pops.

I was the Kool Pop king.

This ad explains everything.

It reminds of everything of why i can't watch basketball games. end to end scoring with little competition.

To play it socially would be okay, thats where the market is overseas.  To watch good awful boring.

Nothing more than the training drills we do at amateur footy.

Lastly how do they make money with advertising to support it, there are no ads during the game time. T20 cricket still get an ad in-between each over to make them tv commercially viable.

As entertainment goes - maybe a pass - like basketball, all scoring no defence

As football goes - below a pass

The commentary by Taylor et al - a MASSIVE failure - what a turn off

The AFL's reaction - absolute success (but behind closed doors will be mortified at what was produced)

The presses reaction - absolute success (but behind the AFL's back - most journo will say a failure)

The players/coaches - like obedient children will say absolute success (with their fingers crossed)

Did anyone else go out and buy a pack of Zooper Doopers?

Already in the Fridge , number one daughter insists. Any alternative?

As for the game I watched about 5 minutes and turned off, the only training drills I am interested are the Dees. Perfect game for those who are not interested in a contest.

And yeah, Toumps just looked a touch slow to the punch the whole time.

I cannot fathom how Port re-signed him for yet another season, after only playing 2 games last year.

He'd have to be one of the slowest players in the league, panics under the slightest bit of pressure and is only proficient at 25 metre passes. He does not have one point of difference that makes him a decent AFL player.

How we, or any other club though he was a worthy top 5 selection is staggering.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

    GAMEDAY: Rd 07 vs Richmond

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
