Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

But at the end of the day we are only discussing a clash jumper, we are merely doing what is requested by AFL H/O.

IMHO the best thing about the current Admin is they consistently understand not to bite the AFL's hand that feeds us.

Supporters on the other hand are much more tribal and want to vent their feelings - you will never please all of the supporters all of the time. However, its critical to please the AFL all of the time.

well you are just plain wrong, doc

the afl wanted predominately white and we (current admin and supporters) fought them and won

so stick that in your pipe and smoke it

We wore those colours in the mid 80's .

Zantuck, Giles,Healys,Battiston, Wacko etc when we stunk it up big.

Barass throwing tantrums.

Those were the days.

Lets be honest Biff - Those were the days you didn't get arrested for being drunk and disorderly in the Southern "Comfort" Stand. You (I) would spend most of the game pulling the splinters out our arrsse .. those were the days.

The kids of today just dont understand the small luxuries of life - shivers today, the Southern Stand has corporate boxes with TV's and Fridges - with seats that are a pleasure to sit in.

Just out of interest did we have a "clash" jumper in the 80's?

 But which white?

Cream, eggshell,  ivory, navajo white, ghostwhite,  vanilla, whitesmoke, baby powder white or snow?

OMG... and 'Betts Baggies', 'Capper Crappers' or AFLW split sides?

Too many choices

Southern " Comfort ' Stand eh You really must have been up with the Gods sipping the good nectar in your dreams.

Most of us real Dees trajects were barracking from standing room bay 12 and 14 only venturing into bay 13 after a win before strolling across the ground to enjoy the presentation of maybe a squash racquet to the MFC best player on the ground. It was before the days of " required memberships "

" out ( of ) our arrsse " is probably pretty appropriate which is why you're being regularly called out now.

After 66 years I can't recall ever getting the tweezers out !

White Shorts - very commercial entity.

I like the commercial value of rotating your clash jumper - sometimes you will get it right, sometimes you will get it wrong, you will never please all of the supporters all of the time.

Personally, dont care one way or the other, for those that do care, hope they get the colour combination that they want.

Yeah the early 80's was one bad dream - you obviously never sat on those hideously un-comfortable wooden benches.

Maybe I never got arrested because the police officers spent most of their time dealing with the "trajects" that elected to stand in a stadium that was more than half empty on a weekly basis. Sounds like you "trajects" where one smart bunch - or so you thought. Sounds also like we have many "trajects" that share their knowledge on Demondland today.

I'm happy with the advances in the game and the quality of the facilities we now have courtesy of the AFL.

I was in the 2.7% minority that voted for the white jumper. I quite liked wearing a white jumper as a change up, and I happen to think the royal blue is a shocking colour.

I don't recall too many supporters were complaining about the white jumper when we smashed the lead leaders at Adelaide Oval, or when Tommy Mac broke a 15 year Subiaco drought with a goal with 5 seconds left , or Jake Melksham kicking a scintillating goal in the dying minutes to pull a game out of the fire against Carlton. The whinging on Demonland was also  kept to a minimum when we kicked 13 goals to 6 in the second half against Essendon to score a solid win...in you guessed it....the white jumper.

Whilst last year's white clash jumper was not one of our better ones, what was wrong with this one in 2016?

Like you said you were in the 2.7%.  As an analogy I think there may well be 2.7% of people that would be ok with it if the International Olympic  Committee forced Australia to compete in pale yellow and cyan or maybe green red and white so as not to clash with Brazil.  Wouldn't make it OK.  Conversely I don't think many Aussies really care whether we play in predominantly yellow or predominantly green, so long as the other colour is yellow or green.  Adding a predominace of white completely changes the whole symbolisim of the teams colours if they didn't originally contain that colour.

Whilst obviously I like all MFC supporters still celibrated the on field victories we have had in those hideous white and silver monstrosities, it adds a bitter aftertaste watching replays and highlights of the game with a jumper that isn't easily associated with the MFC.  When we smash our opponents into oblivion in future seasons, they and their supporters will know they've been beaten by the team we love, the team of the RED and the BLUE.

    DISCO INFERNO by Whispering Jack

Two weeks ago, when the curtain came down on Melbourne’s game against the Brisbane Lions, the team trudged off the MCG looking tired and despondent at the end of a tough run of games played in quick succession. In the days that followed, the fans wanted answers about their team’s lamentable performance that night and foremost among their concerns was whether the loss was a one off result of fatigue or was it due to other factor(s) of far greater consequence.  As it turns out, the answer to

TIGERS PUNT CASEY by KC from Casey

The afternoon atmosphere at the Swinburne Centre was somewhat surreal as the game between Richmond VFL and the Casey Demons unfolded on what was really a normal work day for most Melburnians. The Yarra Park precinct marched to the rhythm of city life, the trains rolled by, pedestrians walked by with their dogs and the traffic on Punt Road and Brunton Avenue swirled past while inside the arena, a football battle ensued. And what a battle it was? The Tigers came in with a record of two wins f

It's Game Day and the Demons once again open the round of football with their annual clash against Richmond on ANZAC Eve. The Tigers, coached by former Dees champion and Premiership assistant coach Adem Yze have a plethora of stars missing due to injury but beware the wounded Tiger. The Dees will have to be switched on tonight. A win will keep them in the hunt for the Top 4 whilst a loss could see them fall out of the 8 for the first time since 2020.

    OOZEE by The Oracle

There’s a touch of irony in the fact that Adem Yze played his first game for Melbourne in Round 13, 1995 against the club he now coaches. For that game, he wore the number 44 guernsey and got six touches in a game the team won by 11 points.  The man whose first name was often misspelled, soon changed to the number 13 and it turned out lucky for him. He became a highly revered Demon with a record of 271 games during which his presence was acknowledged by the fans with the chant of “Oozee” wh
