Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Jesus pedo looks in unbelievable Nick!

Have a good feeling Harmed could break out next season.. Font know why? but he looks got and ready to go.

While Richmond's flag will see team's look to go smaller in the forward line, a forward line including Hogan, TMac and Pederson could be very dangerous if they are all fit and in form.

Petty has that look about him, and a very good vertical leap. Note the hand proximity at a full stretch. If he had a back and shoulders to ride - could be awesome. Nice photo.

Great news thanks  Saty!

Yep, Saty has that characteristic: clears up matters of concern with one fell swoop - thank heavens. Jonesy is still an essential driver for the whole team and so must be ready now to assist us to take one more step leading into the season proper.

They mix it up all the time so assume we will see the rolling defence we saw last year, Goodwin wants the defenders to be able to play on anybody

But surely they still practice one-on-one scenarios? In that sense, I'm curious as to how certain forwards match up on certain defenders, and if there are any consistent themes or if any of our players tend to outmatch others, which might perhaps provide some additional insight into their strengths and weaknesses against opposition types. Such as Nev vs. Jeffy? Or for example if Frost has any special negating tactics against say Hogan?

On Wednesday they had Hogan and Hibberd working together separate to the main group before they left the session early (see my photos posted yesterday in this thread), but for the most part they seemed to be pitting backs against each other and forwards against each other... for example Wagner on Lewis, Frost on OMac, Kielty on Lever; perhaps in an effort to learn from each other.

Anyone go? Got this off Ben Guthrie..

A few standouts in 9 v 9 match sim at @melbournefc training: -

Christian Salem is in top nick and is covering the ground well

Tom McDonald had a real presence up forward

Corey Maynard has excellent game sense. Look for him to play senior footy early this year.

Agree with what he said, he mustn't have noticed Lever or Bugg who were both excellent as well

Saw most of the session this morning.  And while everyone looks good in pre-season, because there is no pressure and it's all about getting to maximum fitness levels for the season ahead, I made the following observations:

* Jones not at the session, although was sighted running strongly before the main group came out.

* Viney running laps very strongly, before he went inside.

* Brayshaw carrying heavy strapping on hamstring, and was hindered when running, although he competed in all the session and the running drills.

* Petty and Balic running laps.

* Smith, Spargo, Petty, Kent, Weideman, all in the rehab group with Cross running the drills.  None of them can be too far away from joining the main group.  Vandenberg not sighted by me, but didn't see this group working for long.

* ANB, Bugg and Tom Mc by far the leaders in the running drills, with all 3 trying to get over the line first.  Tom Mc eventually grinding them down after half a dozen 400m runs, but ANB held on through the lot.  Buggy hitting the wall in the last one, but led the early sorties.

* King and Filopovic will be more than adequate back-up for Max. Both can kick the ball ( unlike Spencer) and were in the middle of the pack in the running drills, so are building their endurance to the necessary level.  Interestingly, Max is certainly in the top 1/3rd in the running drills.  The sprinters like Garlett and Frost struggle with the longer distances, not surprisingly, but would beat most over 100m easily.  The surprise is Hunt who is out in the leading pack for distance, and we all know he can turn on the jets as well.

Saty, 666, Hardtack and little tacker should have some ripper photos, which we should see later.  They would have more if they hadn't gas-bagged on about the merits of various photographic equipment, but hey, who am I to criticise?

It's time once again to thank all our dedicated track watchers for their insightful comments and outstanding photos.

Perhaps someone could let us know if Brayshaw seems to be working with the midfield group or the defenders? I ask because in his "comeback" games at the end of last year he played off the HBF and I thought acquitted himself very well there, yet we all believe he was recruited to form part of our midfield group.

Thanks GOTO. Do you know what is wrong with Weed? He really needs a good pre season to be well placed entering what will be a very important season for hime. Possibly a career defining one.

He missed most of his final junior year with an ankle injury. I assume it's the same problem. Not good that it's come back, (assuming it has) and is taking this long to recover. Or alternatively, great they've identified the problem and its about to be fixed in time for him to become a star this season.

I have a great pic of Weed airborne today at training,  assume the ankle is not an issue on takeoff or landing, will post it later

And here are the last photos you will get from Liam via myself until we come back for round three (if we can make it for training that week). We hit the road towards Sydney and home, tomorrow.

As usual the full set of photos can be found at the following link, and for those unable to access Facebook, a subset follows.

It appears I’m limited to just 1.63mb of file upload on Demonland ?. Is there a maximum amount of data per person over a certain period, or is there some way I can circumvent this limitation? (when I uploaded images for Monday’s training it indicated I could upload up to 18+mb of files, now I’m limited to 1.6mb)

Firstly, a big thank you to all that attend training and send through reports and pics. I really appreciate your efforts given that I am half the world away.

Secondly, I have always wondered about the relationships within the playing group and maybe the track watchers could give me a few hints at who is close with who.

I know that Jones has a good relationship with both Angus and Harmes is there any one else that he has taken under his wing?

Gawn seems to be mentoring the fellow rucks and has a close relationship with Flip.

Garlett had Johnstone down the coast over the break boxing.

What other groupings are there? I am interested in the dynamics of a group of 50 odd players spending a lot of time together and taining towards a common goal.

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
