Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Much ado about nothing.

I wish that we could say thats the case, but its not the first time its happened at this club.

We had a similar thing happen when Dean Bailey was fired.   It was another group of players thinking they were bigger then the club.

Must be a culture thing.  Been happening since at least the early 1990's.maybe even earlier.

Doesn’t the difference of opinion on this very but board demonstrate how it will fracture people inside the club?

The posters calling out the players (it whatever terms) are supporting the club as this was a club sanctioned activity.

The posters supporting the players are believing the club overstepped the mark.

The club will attempt to sweep this under the carpet (as it should and already has) as it doesn’t want its dirty laundry aired in public. The problem is there will be two very different views on how this problem was addressed.

Coaches lossing players or clubs picking Star players of coaches or verse versa hasn’t been litter throughout history. It remains to be seen if this is easily fixed or will fester below the surface. Those thinking this is a non story are kidding themselves.

There was a time in the mid-1990s when a section of the Melbourne Football Club changerooms at Junction Oval was known as Hollywood Boulevard. For this is where the team’s self-appointed stars — captain Garry Lyon, Jim Stynes, Todd Viney, Glenn Lovett and one or two others – had their lockers, changed their jockstraps and exchanged their blokey jokes.

In that era, when Neil Balme was coach and Cameron Schwab the football manager (and later CEO), the team was divided along neat lines: the Hollywood set and the rest.

Culture.

This is the sort of story that the club and players has to turn into a positive

The club has to respond by being the toughest, hardest, meanest, nastiest team of ex-con tough nuts the league has ever seen.

That is the only way forward. And when we are that team, this little nonsense will be put in perspective. The only way out of this is to now train longer harder and smarter than they ever have.

Im not too fussed. It’s what we do now that matters

Could say the same about Neeld and Roos. At least Roos gave himself a UBD and jumped. But going from the disrespect shown to him by the players in his final two games he would have been shafted also. Now it looks like Goodwin’s Next.

Yes, I noticed the guards had bolted and some players started to talk while others tried to sleep.

No wonder we couldn't win.

Interesting all the quoting of Moons and Spud & using it to back up the failure to make finals in 2017.

...but no one wants to quote the Champion data man who's take was we were just too young in 2017 so it was no surprise that we lost games we supposedly should have won. He also mentioned the "I" word, injury...but of course, no it was all down to mental fragility.

The only mental fragility I can see is on this site.

Start using some mental acuity crew and think through things a bit more clearly.

Good luck with that

I didn't think this would need to be  pointed out, but the people at the club now are not those who were at the club then.

It’s still along way off till round one. Fans are looking for some signs of atonement for the debacle of end of season. What we have seen so far in the off season does not inspire much confidence.

Other than this, what are you referring to?

Don't get me wrong I understand those who feel a bit uneasy about this situation and may raise an eyebrow. I along with them will judge the players on outcomes not perceptions. It's those making judgements on the clubs 2018 prospects before Xmas 2017 that I think are acting hysterically.

I believe a lot of fans were unnerved at Goodwin’s and most of the clubs hierarchy’s silence at end of season. The emptiness is still there.

We should all start guessing who the 14 players are. That’d be fun...

Probably the crew that is obsessed with the NBA -  they want so much to be like those wankers over in the U.S that they think they can run the club.

Imagine though, if the concerns were all genuine, and despite the FD/Coaches being disappointed, they accepted the concerns and moved on.

Perhaps we should too...?

I made an error in the timeline as the players approached the ALFPA directly and the club responded with briefings

From Drunken two days ago

“Now, last Monday Goody told the playing group that the camp would be happening again this year from 18th-20th before breaking for Christmas. Immediately quite a number of players where very much against this for a variety of reasons (including players from the Leadership group), so a group approached the AFLPA to ask how to handle the situation. The MFC staff caught wind of this, so Goodwin gave a presentation last Thursday explaining what they wanted to get from the camp, and explaining that this time they will be bringing a larger amount of medical staff and ensure players were well fed (apparently the food/nutrition last year wasn't the best) Even after this talk, still quite a high number of players were very unhappy about having to do the course again.

So over the weekend the Leadership group and AFLPA met with MFC Coaches/high level staff to discuss the situation, reportedly getting quite feisty at times. The club did have the official final say on the matter, and chose to call the camp off. Monday morning Goodwin gathered all the players and told them the camp was being called off due to the high number of players who raised concerns with it, and he said he wasn't angry but very disappointed because he felt they had given enough information to the players that their health and safety concerns were going to be handled appropriately. However throughout the day the players could tell Goodwin and some other coaches were indeed pretty unhappy with the playing group (when you work with people for long enough you can tell pretty clearly when they are not in the best mood) “

So the club addresses the health and safety issues and increased the medical staff etc but the players weren’t happy

What a balls up situation. Amateur hour at the MFC

    DEPTH CHARGE by Whispering Jack

The jubilation on the coach’s face as he danced a celebratory jig by the playing bench after the final siren sounded to record his team’s four-point victory over the Demons when the teams last met, said it all.    On that rainy Friday night at the Adelaide Oval, Ken Hinkley’s young midfield secured much more than four points on offer. The victory over one of the big dogs of the competition after a succession of wins over some of its lesser lights gave his team respect and validation fo

    HIBERNATING by KC from Casey

When they locked up the rooms for summer at the end of last year’s football season, the rooms gathered cobwebs, the atmosphere became dense and the place developed a sleepy feel. They opened up the rooms to let Casey out to play on Sunday but the team was still hibernating and they missed the bulk of the opening quarter. By the time they worked out it was game on, their opponents from Box Hill had accumulated five goals and, if the game wasn’t over, it might as well have been. For a se

A FORK IN THE HAWK by George on the Outer

For too long in the past, Demon fans became habitually sick and tired of watching the Hawks hand out thrashings to their side. But Melbourne’s empahtic 55-point win at the MCG on Saturday has truly put a fork in the Hawk and turned that history well and truly on its head. The Demons have now won nine of their last ten encounters with the other result, a draw.     And like a fork, it was the multi-pronged options that Melbourne had all across the ground.  It certainly helped that Hawthorn
