Discussion on recent allegations about the use of illicit drugs in football is forbidden
  • IMPORTANT: PLEASE READ BEFORE POSTING

Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Sponsorship Problem?

Here's an Age article from 2015 talking of different AFL sponsorship deals.

While figures may have changed there is no reason to think the relativities have changed.

"Hawthorn last season booked $15 million of marketing income, which includes sponsorship deals. With the addition of Audi and the hopeful retention of BUPA, a 20-year sponsor of the club, that figure could top $16 million next year. Collingwood generates more than $19 million a year in marketing revenue. At Essendon the figure $17.7 million.

In contrast, the Bulldogs booked just $7.5 million of "business development" income, which includes sponsorship. The Saints did even worse, earning just $5.5 million from sponsorship and events."

Good on Infiniti for coming onboard, but this is exactly why i have said our 2018 fixture is a piece of [censored].

Look at the disparity in those above Sponsorship deals, up to $10 million difference and that was 3 years ago.

The club has done all it can. It’s the Football Dept. The Coaches and Players who must lift the old girl up the ladder now. I have been saying it for 10 years, i know

the above figures give you the answer. We either get Prime Sponsorship or we have to sell home games to the middle of Australia, that get shown on Fox.

it's even worse...

13.5 million dollars difference between Collingwood and St Kilda

This is why i got so angry at Round 23 last year.

Finals exposure can set up the next 2-3 years. TV Stations generate the profits in September.

The exposure rates go up...

But if the Boys aern’t going to lay a tackle in the first 11 mins of the game, when September is on the line, i can understand Sponsors and Broadcasters not wanting to touch us.

Sponsorship is not cheap, they expect value for it.

Sponsorship is a very tough environment. I happy to get anybody onboard in today’s market.

Here is a question.

With the new female regeneration about to hit screens, where does that leave the Demonland version?

Currently in Davos. Expensive skiing, and still snowing

moving on to Frankfurt, do we have buttons as sponsor?

PJ and the whole of the MFC would like to thank-you for your vote of confidence. Maybe you should come to the next sponsors lunch and tell them what you think of sponsoring the MFC - I can do it on your behalf if you’d like.

C'mon this place is just a bit of fun - relax - stay positive - good things are happening and there is more on the way.

IF you say it own it - no big deal just a bit of fun. You have 12,000 posts - chill

Sorry pedant, the original discussed success and tv exposure equals bettet sponsorship

Collingwood get the exposure and better sponsorship without recent success due to Eddie, point I was making

Here are some stats from North from last year....

"Sales and sponsorship revenue rose 9.1% to a record $9.34 million last year, despite the club finishing a disappointing 15th on the ladder.

Commercial business, events and fundraising accounted for a further $2.9m as the club posted an operating profit of $633k from revenue of $39m despite on-field troubles leading to downturns in membership and ticketing."

Thanks for that Cards...

could not help noticing another article on that feed about Collingwood:

"Collingwood has overtaken the Sydney Swans as the biggest sponsorship earner among the top sports clubs, with revenue of $18.9 million in 2017, a year in which all but four AFL clubs increased sponsorship revenue."

AFL clubs add $16 million in new sponsorship revenue for 2017

OMG the game must be in terrible shape from a corporate point of view - 90K + crowd for the 1st game and maybe a Round 1 record attendance not off the cards - geez.

The Australian Financial Review has today published a story showing that the AFL is - by far - the wealthiest sporting code in the country. For those who don't have online access, John Stenshot's story claims the AFL had revenue in 2017 of $650 million and a profit of $44.8 million. These figures compare with:

NRL - revenue of $354m and a loss of $3.7m

Cricket Australia - revenue of $313m and profit of $50m

Rugby Australia (2016 figures) - revenue of $129m and profit of $3.7m

FFA - revenue of $105m and a loss of $0.3m

    TRAINING: Friday 19th April 2024

They are out for a run just as it starts raining. It didn't last long, ended up a reasonable session weather wise.  Light duties, BBB, rehab Farris-White, Melky, Salem and Spargo, all with private trainers. They are all playing soccer, huge amount of noise. 36-40 (difficult to get a count) in the main squad, biggest I've seen it in ages. Choco is barking out the orders. Goody has intense body language as he observes. Bowey in a lime green cap (no contact), and in the sim

The Casey Demons have broken the ice for season 2024 with a pulsating come-from-behind victory over Port Melbourne in which it took the lead for the first time at the halfway mark of the final quarter. The game played in mild Autumn conditions in neutral territory at Kinetic Park, Frankston, never reached great heights in standard but it proved gripping in character at the end at the Casey Demons overcame the Borough to win by 15 points after trailing badly early in the second half.  P

The writing was on the wall from the very first bounce of the football. The big men went up, Max Gawn more often than not, decisively won the ruck hit out and invariably a Brisbane Lions onballer either won the battle on the ground or halved the contest and they went at it repeatedly until they finally won out. Melbourne managed the first goal from Alex Neal-Bullen but after that the visitors shut out every area of Demon presence around the ground except in the ruck duels. It was a mauling.
